December 3, 20241 yr I know it's still (very) early days of MSFS2024, but has anybody figured a way to get rid of those mushroom trees in photogrammetry cities? I was drawing exclude polygons in MSFS2020 but that's a tedious job to say the least. I hope there's a better way? Thanks! 🙂
December 3, 20241 yr It drives me CRAZY that asobo has no option to disable PG trees and only keep buildings. There's no way ML can't figure out what is a tree vs. building. This would make cities sooooooooo much more realistic looking! Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!
December 3, 20241 yr Hi, I think that if you deactivate PG you will not see PG buildings and trees. I've deactivated PG in MS2024 because those horrible trees populate all over! And, besides, the PG cities are looking very bad compared with MSFS 2020. Greetings Â

If they could detect photogrammetry trees, they would have removed them in the first place. The reason why there are photogrammetry trees is because the photogrammetry technology they are using is mistakenly picking up trees as objects. It will take time for them to advance the technology to better detect trees and exclude the trees from photogrammetry. Hopefully in MSFS 2028, they can better do this. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32Â GB RAM

This would not be hard for a machine learning model. I definitely prefer '24 with PG turned off if flying around cities- they look like the rain forest otherwise. Tired of Streetlights everywhere? This would make cities sooooooooo much more realistic looking! I don’t normally defend Asobo, but PG can’t differentiate between trees buildings or cars. PG just has 3D scan data…  Maybe in the future Ai will be able to pick apart PG but I doubt it will be soon because even the PG is very varied and fluid (hence the sometimes melted look)  now if you are talking about the autogen that’s something different entirely.Â

At least for my home town.

December 3, 20241 yr I don't mind the low res scans of the real trees. I can live with them. What I absolutely can't live with is the enormous autogen trees that grow out of many TIN Modeled cities. For example in Monte Carlo there is a humongous palm tree growing out of the side of one of the Skyscrapers. This has been going on since MS2020 was released and they still haven't taught their AI to not place trees like this, same as they still haven't taught it were the tree line is and that trees don't grow in subpolar regions. Â I thought this is using machine learning? Why is their machine not learning anything in 4 years? Edited December 3, 20241 yr by Farlis
December 3, 20241 yr How the heck is it not kindergarten logic to differentiate between biological analog infinitely variable plant life and hard edged man made rectangularoid structures? Straight lines/perfect curve =building Random edges =natural world. I'm really struggling to believe the leeway people give these devs. Russell Gough SE London

December 3, 20241 yr Since 2024 came out, I've had much worse PG in my 2020. The trees are almost everywhere just cuboids. The buildings are also not built as well. I didn't have that before 2024 came out. I haven't installed 2024 either. I'll wait another 6 months. December 3, 20241 yr My two cents worth is the PG trees are correct because that is what the camera (scan) sees. It's the autogen trees, cars, whatever, that we are seeing, and are screwing things up. They need to exclude autogen objects from PG areas. December 3, 20241 yr I'm not 100% sure this will work (I returned 2024), but I saw some tests a developer did with different settings and it seemed that changing the Trees setting (which in 2020 seemed to affect the quality of the trees), seemed to also reduce the amount of trees. Therefore, try setting Trees to Low and see how that looks.
December 3, 20241 yr Its one week microsoft has given my refund. Im so happy. msfs2024, problems everywhere.  they need to finish the product before selling it.Â
