New GPU or new System?

Featured Replies

I have a 737 cockpit with a samsung 4k 78” screen at the front and running MSFS2020

I want to add another two 70” tv’s at 4k would my GPU RTX3080ti handle these extra resolutions?

I tested yesterday with my 65” TV and was pretty smooth. Would my CPU and MB handle a 40 series card if i want to upgrade my GPU?

Thanks, Vernon

Also keep power supply requirements in mind. For example, I think the recommended minimum PSU for the RTX 4090 is 850 watts.

CPU is still good. PSU 1000W+GPU would be the best.

New simulator. More honesty in advertising that sells a beta.

Totally irrelevant to the topic.

Thanks for the response guys. I’m pretty sure i have an EVGA 1000w PSU but let me double check later.

So my CPU + MB will be fine running a 40 series correct?

Sure, but do you need it?

Bert

If your CPU and MB is running the 30 series card and PS is running ok, a 40 series card will work. But do you really need a 40 series card? I might upgrade my card next year it's about 4 years old but it's still running great with 2024 with ultra settings.

I mean running triple screens at 4k would be a heavy load for even my 4080.  In VR my rig bogs down with dual 4k per eye.  Hey may be okay though.  I think his CPU may be the limiting factor.

Think CPU Upgrade is better than GPU Upgrade at this point!

I'm running an older system with a 2080 Super and am still Main Thread bound and not GPU Bound on all High Settings.

Even if I upgraded to a 4090ti I'd still be CPU Main Thread Bound!

Are you running three 4k screens?

Go amd for cpu and upgrade

Gpu and PSU.to 1000w

I have a 7950x3d from a 9900k

Amazing performance.

With a 3080ti at 4k

If anything in the future i can always drop a 9950x3d in same board

Which is great.

Mike

I have a 11900k/RTX4090 and triple 4k tvs. I am sometimes CPU bound and sometimes GPU bound depending on where I am flying/airports/weather etc.

With 3x4k tvs you will need the Vram of a 4090. Run tvs with"soap opera" enabled at 25fps and you'll be happy at most airports.

Your CPU is good enough. You will, of course, benefit from a 14900k or a 9800x3d, but I'd prioritize a 4090 GPU.

With 3x4K screens you will be heavily GPU bottlenecked, surely a 4090 will be mandatory at that point. With DLSS and frame gen as well.

You may wait a couple of months for the release of the 5090, either to get that or to get the 4090 at lower price.
