New Version of Lossless Scaling

Yes, I also found that out. I use a single monitor and constantly switch to for instance BATC or Firefox during my flights. That would become a bit of a problem with Lossless Scaling, it seems.

Still, I don't really get it... I viewed a few more video's on YT and read some more about it. You'd think an app like this would be great for those who don't have top of the bill hardware and can then use this app to make performance better. But almost all I see (also in this topic) are people with 4080's or 4090's, so who shouldn't have a real performance problem to begin with, and they (indeed) all already have a performance that's good enough for flight simming (fps over 40 or 60). This app mainly seems to make an already good performance better. The rich even get richer, so to speak LOL

Anyway, it was an interesting read but I'll pass. Maybe I'll get this app once I have a 5080 or 5090 LOL Oh no, skip that, single screen user here, it simply won't work for me.

In practise the minimum base of 30 fps seems to be a bit of a myth for me at least. I can run the sim at 20 fps and either double or treble that rate with lossless scaling and it still works absolutel

  • I switched it on today in the PMDG 777, at KATL, my FPS was around 24 at the airport, and with it on I got around 45 fps, and smooth.

Hello all, I made a lossless settings guide over at the XP12 forums if anyone wants to look at it, I know its aimed at XP12 but  the settings within lossless scaling should apply to MSFS as well, just

Have you considered a second PC to run EFB etc.? It could be a small laptop plugged into your second monitor so you end up with two systems. FSUIPC7 also includes WideServer available as a separate purchase. https://www.fsuipc.com

EFB can run on a network and perhaps BATC can too. You’d need WideServer of course but the advantages may well outweigh the disadvantages. Just a thought.

BATC can't, unfortunately.

Has the author been asked if it can run on a network PC. WideFS makes it possible for very old programs like Radar Contact to run on a separate PC.

It's been discussed on the BATC Discord but no one seems to have it working and the devs don't seem to have it anywhere on their priority list.

I suppose if enough users request it then the author may look at making it possible. Devs? Isn't it written and supported by a single person?

No, there is indeed one guy (Captain) who started it all on its own but another one has joined the team (whakamolenz who also worked on FSLTL) so there are at least two now. And I do think there are 1 or 2 more guys doing a lot of work on BATC but I'm not sure if they are really devs. In addition there are a bunch of guys doing support on Discord so the actual devs can do what they are supposed to do!

My hardware is not bad at all, but with high-ultra settings, lots of AI traffic, PMDG or other highend a/c, I get about 25-30 fps in very dense areas for MSFS 2020 and about 5 fps less in MSFS2024. With Lossless Scaling, I can now reach about 55-60 fps in MSFS2020 and about 50 fps with MSFS2024. The graphical anomalies are negligible in cockpit view and barely noticeable in outside view. That for 7 € !

The OP/Video stated that you will need stable 30 better 40 fps for LSFG to work perfect. I cannot confirm that this requirement is mandatory. At least with my setup, stable 23-25 fps seem to be good enough.

Anyone using 2.13.1 with multiple views in “fullscreen “ mode ?

Up to 2.11 I could move my mouse pointer from left to right and back on both monitors.

Now after activering Scale the mouse pointer only moves on the Scaled monitor.

Workaround : press the Windows key . Then the mouse pointer will move on both screens.

Nemo I've found the same and in fact I run locked at 19 fps on a full Gsync monitor and use 4X FG in Lossless and it gives great results...at least with Lossless ver. 2.3.

I updated to the new ver. 3.0 and tested it. Performance is better and there are fewer artifacts but I get a slight strobing effect no matter what setting I used on 3.0. I dropped back to 2.3 and strobing is gone. I suspect it has something to do with a combo of 3.0 and Gsync, but I would quit using Lossless before I give up Gsync. I'm going to keep testing 3.0 and try to find a setting that doesn't exhibit strobing, but it's not that big a deal, because I can happily continue using 2.3.

FSHUD also has a web client.  That is what I am using on a laptop to your point Ray.

It's strange not to have a remote client for ATC imho.  PF3 did it similar to RC 15 years ago LOL

With that said ActiveSky could always be run remotely until MSFS as well 😞

I found a solution for using Batc with lossless on. I just slid the BATC screen over to the main monitor with MSFS on it, and use the hotkey to minimize and full screen BATC. Works fine. Don't know why I didn't think of this before.

Given it only updates weather every 10-15 mins I never found AS a problem regarding resources. In fact no addons such as moving maps have any impact. It's more to do with how screens behave with LS such as Bob is experiencing.

Interesting. But doesn't the lossless app stop working on MSFS and start working on the BATC window then...? Or perhaps not so much that you would notice it? After reading a few of the recent posts, about this app also working with an fps of 19, I might give it a try anyway. Mainly to get a bit better performance on large airports with lots of BATC-traffic. It's cool that you can turn the app off and on so easily: makes comparing performance a breeze, I think. The app is really cheap so... trying it won't hurt.

Bob, there is a little download on the BATC page that adds a icon for BATC to the classic toolbar (its called BATC VR Toolbar) allowing to control BATC via ingame window instead of the classic GUI window. This should also alleviate your LS issue, no?
