Still having to run TAA to get smooth EFIS gauge number scrolling, even with the latest DLSS?

Cheers

In practise the minimum base of 30 fps seems to be a bit of a myth for me at least. I can run the sim at 20 fps and either double or treble that rate with lossless scaling and it still works absolutel

  • I switched it on today in the PMDG 777, at KATL, my FPS was around 24 at the airport, and with it on I got around 45 fps, and smooth.

Hello all, I made a lossless settings guide over at the XP12 forums if anyone wants to look at it, I know its aimed at XP12 but  the settings within lossless scaling should apply to MSFS as well, just

Why would you not run TAA using lossless?

Way better than dlss

how to i switch off lossless for continuing to be present in auto fps?

i uncale and still renders 60fps in auto fps

thanks

mike

Its been a while since i've used lossless scaling but when I last did (12 months ago I guess) it didn't provide a frame generation effect on multi render windows/monitors. I.e, if you run multi monitors for the sim it only frame gens on once of those windows. Has this changed at all?

I note with the inbuilt FSR 3.1 in 2024 frame gen works across all render windows which is great.   Makes me wonder if Optiscaller does too actually... I think thats the FSR version of Lossless scaling.

I believe it does support multi monitors.

I think i did a setting for it.

I may be wrong.

Hey mate, its always had a "multi monitors" slider but I think that just helps the app identify that it may not be applied to any particular monitor - It never seemed to actually enact frame generation on multi monitors. I'd love to be proven wrong but that was my expirence about 12 months ago.

Has anybody got the FG dropped unexpectedly? I'm finding this happens in MSFS2024, Store edition, sometimes several times per flight. Using the hotkey to reenable FG does not work; I have to either switch to the UI and enable FG from there, or shut down and restart Lossless Scaling.

It never happened in FSX-SE, P3Dv5 or MSFS2020 (Steam edition).

I'm getting a lock up when I try FSR and I think it's 3.0 in 2024.  Any clues why that might be?  SU2.  One of the reasons I don't use NV DLSS FG is because of this issue w/ multiple screens.

Hi Noel,

I had some hit and mis experiences getting FSR 3.1 to work across my three 4K monitors. Whilst it would always "work" I was getting CTD and weird lock ups at random, sometimes even during the loading movie or main menu.

I used DLSS Swapper to update 2024 to the latest version of FSR (which I think is 3.14 or similar) and cleaned out all my shader cache (both the NVIDIA/AMD and MSFS2024 ones). Since then its been pretty stable. I've had a couple of crashes but I'm not sure I can put that on FSR as opposed to just ... well, 2024 being 2024. I'm using TAA as well, I've found that more stable than using DLSS for AA coupled with FSR for FG.

Does anyone know why LS will not work on 3840x2160? At least on my machine. It works fine if I knock it down on the rez?

Chris Chiozza

Just curious, what is everyone's preferred LS settings?

Is there anything in particular to change or leave as default?

I have never had that happen, MS Store version here also.

The major differences I see between our systems...you run a 3060ti, I run a 4090, you run SMT off, I run SMT on, you have an M.2 + SSD and I run 1 M.2.

You know it seems like I saw someone post the same problem a few months ago.  How recent is your vid card driver?

Thanks, Mace. I run at 1080p. I guess you run at 4K. I updated my drivers a couple of nights ago, to version 576.80, but I'm still seeing the problem. The previous drivers I had were version 572.70.
