COWS DA40-XLS Incoming

Featured Replies

Wow! I was kind of debating getting this based on their excellent DA42 but certainly not for over US$40.00. The original price made it tempting but I am happy enough with the 42 so this is a pass now.

It's 40 AUD though....like 25 USD.  Pretty cheap for an addon.

From £15.20 to £24.58 🤔

A bit disappointing but lets see what it is when it's finally released.

Say what you want about pricing by DA42 is my favorite GA in 2024 at the moment. It pretty much has everything 2020 version does and it works flawlessly. Even my beloved A2A Comanche have some small issues that COWs doesn't!

I bought this for 2020 but rarely used it and kind of regretted getting it. I think I was spending a lot of time with the 850 and the Dukes and so the 42 sat in the hanger. But with few aircraft in 2024 I started flying the 42 and now it too is by far my favorite GA aircraft and what I am flying the most! It works very well, has a good failure model, and flies excellently, but it is their texturing that really captures me, both outside and inside it just looks like a real aircraft.

I really wish they would do a 62 because that would both be an instant purchase and an aircraft I would spend a lot of time in.

Yeah, love it, my favourite in 2020 as well. Only problem in 2024 is no pilots in external camera.

You don't have this option IRL as well 🙂

Just "melted" some leading edge rime. Very satisfying!

Anyone who's flown their DA42 will find DA40 pointless to be honest. They are identical in terms of cockpit layout with one or two differences and biggest one is single engine config. DA40 is also bit slower then 42 meaning any longer cross country flights will take forever. I think the best usage for DA40 will be for purposes of learning/general handling as well as practising instrument approaches or just doing some low level VFR stuff.

I think they should have instead gone with DA62/50 but nevertheless I will still buy it on release.

I'm happy not to be anyone as I will fly both, happily. I just wish they would release it already. It's been on ORBX for over a week now.

Also, a very good DA-50RG is already available.

It doesn't look like COWs quality though

No it's not really. No doubt it will be hangared once this one is released.
