PMS 750 or TDS

Featured Replies

My PMS yearly subscription is nearing an end so I am evaluating whether to upgrade my licence to lifetime for 30 Euros or should I get TDS version. The reason why got PMS originally at the time was because of lack of updatable navigational database for TDI. But since now TDI supports full navigraph support - I am struggling to make up my mind whether I should get that instead. PMS so far has functioned reasonably in all of my addon aircraft but I understand TDI uses real garmin trainer software to run the actual GPS unit. To be honest for me it does not matter if uses real garmin software or not as long as it gets the job done.

What do you people think - should I upgrade my PMS licence or get TDI instead? Are there any differences between two?

You answered your own question.  The TDS unit is accurate to the real unit AND can use Navigraph data.  Where is the negative?

The PMS unit is nicely integrated and loads up the sim flight plan.. and does most things just fine.

If you are happy with that, stick with it. 🙂

However, if you are used to the real Garmin unit, there are things that the PMS unit does not do..  and if that matters to you, the TDS unit provides the solution.    For that, you now need to load up the flight plan via an "Import" screen and the EFB in the sim does not interface with it.   So that makes life more complicated..

The price difference - one is 30 Euros whereas the other is almost 65 Euros. But I think I have made my mind up, I'll keep PMS for now.

Yeah - that is what I'm thinking too, PMS has worked reliably so far and all of addon aircraft (that I own) supports full autopilot integration with PMS. I think I'll stay with PMS for now. TDS is what something I can look at maybe into the future.

I have a fully paid up premium PMS but since the Navigraph integration on the TDS I have been considering migrating. I believe that I will sometime in the next month. I'm most interested in the performance differences between the two.

The TDS gps is the only unit that comes close to the real thing in my studied opinion.

Not sure what you mean... is there a difference?

Does anyone know why are these did not make it to MSFS?

Doesn't the PMS have the (semi-fake/semi-real) radar, and the TDS does not?

It doesn't matter, both are superseded (easily) by the TDS GTNxi.

I don't know, I was asking you the question.  I don't use the PMS that often and I figured you might know the answer right away.
