When I bought my 4070 12GB, prices were $550 to $600. Now the cheapest is $780 (Newegg) and most are over $900.

The only reasonably priced 16GB card I could find is the 4070ti 16GB for $970

My normal store is retailing 5090's at nearly $7,000AUD.

Not on your life would I spend that much on a GPU.

The computer I have is what I have and likely will be until it fails.  With the current price trend in computers and components, when if fails, my flight sim days will have come to an end.

Maybe it's not desirable but it's an option then you could start using MSFS on an XBox device for a more affordable price.

Not again! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I guess I'll stay with my 3060Ti for a bit more.

Although I see some calculation errors in the last image. $52 difference vs $300 MSRP shouldn't be just 17%, not 117%?

Same here in UK. You showed above RTX 5070ti's originally listed on release at $750. I got mine for £849 here a few weeks ago. You don't see them for less that £900 and up to £1,000 now.

The X-Box Series X costing half of that is starting to look like a better deal...

PCPartPIcker will find the lowest prices on any component. You make choices in the menus on the left and find the best prices on all the major stores. But it's probably geared toward the USA.

But what's the cause....

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Recent graphics card price increases, particularly for the RTX 50 series, are attributed to a combination of factors including tariffs, limited supply, high demand, and scalper activity, resulting in prices significantly exceeding the MSRP.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:

    Tariffs:
Newegg and other retailers have cited President Trump's tariffs on Chinese imports as a major driver of price hikes on the RTX 5090 and 5080, with some price increases ranging from $100 to $400.

Limited Supply and High Demand:
The RTX 50 series launched with limited stock, which quickly led to shortages and scalpers profiting from inflated prices.
Nvidia's Launch Strategy:

Some argue that Nvidia rushed the launch of the 5000 series while discontinuing production of the 4000 series, further exacerbating supply issues.

Scalper Activity:
The combination of limited supply and high demand created an environment where scalpers could easily buy up stock and resell it at exorbitant prices.

Retailer and AIB Partner Greed:
Some sources suggest that manufacturers and retailers are taking advantage of the situation by increasing prices beyond what is justified by the cost of tariffs or supply chain issues.

Other Factors:
Some gamers also point to factors like cryptocurrency mining, the AI boom, and even Nvidia's decision to push EVGA out of the GPU business as contributing to the price increases.

Market Chaos:
The situation has created market chaos, with consumers facing difficulty finding GPUs at reasonable prices and even used GPUs experiencing price increases.

Tariff Uncertainty:
The uncertainty surrounding tariffs and their potential impact on the supply chain has also contributed to the problem.
Consumer Reaction:

Many PC gamers are frustrated with the current situation, and some are choosing to wait for better stock and prices to stabilize or are considering upgrading to a previous generation GPU instead.

I see these degenerate scalpers on Amazon among other places so they should be easy to identify and track down andso should be charged with a crime.  Scalpers are the lowest form of life.

The whole video card scene has been such disappointing phenomenon in the past 4 years. It has pushed me away from buying new games. I pray my video card lasts 10 more years and I'll just play my backlog.
