Sim Beta 2 - How can it be so unstable/inconsistent?

Thats between a rock and a hard place

It is and when SU2 crashes to desktop either at once, or after a minute or two,
despite it being "expected to have bugs and issues not present in the current live build"
it will be impossible to beta test.

An unstable beta? Oh dear, that's terrible! And - we're not even getting paid for it?! I'll probably just add fuel to the fire here - but, jeez - unstable beta? Aren't betas inherently unstable?

  • I will explain it to you! Back when 2020 was released, initially there were no public betas. Asobo in house testing was missing a  lot of bugs, and most of us would suffered with bugs between official

  • Maybe it's because it's a "Beta"?

I am going back to FS20 while they sort this out. No problem. No need to get frustrated. SU2 had a long list of fixes, and performance was way better. Maybe after a hotfix or 10 i will reinstall it. But their QA is atrocious. The forums are being flooded with reports of people having CTDs with vanilla installs. Not to mention the one thing that was working decently (Career) was zapped, losing all my progress. I will try again once things settle down. Fortunately FS20 is stable on my system.

If you are not comfortable using a build that is potentially unstable and may have other issues, then we highly encourage you to exit the beta and remain on the regular release build.

Thanks,

This sentence needs to be stickied in all languages on all flightsim fora.

Neither statement provides a shred of evidence for your claim:

There is no testing going on except us.

Lots of reports for xbox users. Completely unplayable. Again, nobody is testing this project, or if they are, they are being ignored.

Yea, but perhaps the statement would be more accurate if they replace the word "Beta" with "Flight Sim 2024" as the "potentially unstable" descriptor usually applies to the paid for full releases from this outfit also😉

Someone reported that if you did the nvidia dlss workaround thing you need to reverse all of that. Might help some.

From the release notes:

Quote

Beginning with the Sim Update 2 Beta, Career and Challenge League will have separate progress and leaderboards from the live build.

This means Career mode progress in the live build will not carry over to the flighting build, and vice versa. In addition, Challenge League in the flighting build will have a separate leaderboard from the live build.

Making Career and Challenge League progress separate in the flighting build allows us to test additional changes and fixes that cannot be tested in the live build. All Career specializations will be unlocked by default in the flighting build to allow participants to preview changes that might not be available (based on Career mode progress) in the live build.

It seems that the career mode progress achieved in the stable build does not carry over into this and future betas and vice versa. Not a bug, a feature.

Yeah I read that. Still disappointing.

Neither means what you claimed. Your claim is uneducated and wrong.

Right, precisely what I wanted to remind some people here of.

Participating in the Beta and then complaining about things not working properly...well, uh, duh....this is exactly what you actually signed up for. So, keep reporting, but without the whining please.

I've never really understood the attraction of being an unpaid Beta Tester.

But you guys knock yourselves out

Somehow developers fooled their paying customers into thinking that being a unpaid Beta tester was somehow for the greater good.

No one forcing anyone to be "unpaid Beta Tester", but those who opt to become in one in opinion do a great service for public all of us!

I disagree. Beta testers do a great service for the game developer, who should have properly tested their product before releasing it. No one forces anyone to be a smoker, but sometimes people voluntarily choose things that don't benefit them in the "long run" without knowing any better.

It's called 'helping'. Sometimes there is no fee involved.

Not true. You paid a "fee" to get the product that does not work. So now you have test it for them to get the experience that you originally "paid" for.

Its called "scamming" your customers which has become the acceptable norm, particularly in gaming. So much so, that customers now defend their right to be used and abused by gaming developers.
