Sim Beta 2 - How can it be so unstable/inconsistent?

There is NO BETTER WAY to find bugs but to get end users to test it - end users with all the vastly different systems will find bugs quicker than flies can find poop.  I love being part of the beta as I get to see new features, see what has changed, what looks better and be part of getting a stable sim.  It also shows anything on my PC that is interfering with a smooth sim.

If there is a show stopping bug I can be flying the non beta version in five minutes just by selecting 'none' in the beta tab with the Steam Version.  Best of both worlds.

An unstable beta? Oh dear, that's terrible! And - we're not even getting paid for it?! I'll probably just add fuel to the fire here - but, jeez - unstable beta? Aren't betas inherently unstable?

  • I will explain it to you! Back when 2020 was released, initially there were no public betas. Asobo in house testing was missing a  lot of bugs, and most of us would suffered with bugs between official

  • Maybe it's because it's a "Beta"?

Well, I completely agree with the original poster. Went from minimum 45fps -70 fps with SU1, SU2 lucky to get more than 12fps. And I have tried all the tricks: empty community folder, dropped my graphic settings to low, deleted cache, etc. Even multiple CTDs. There is a memory management component that they are monitoring that may be my major issue but it is unplayable.

I've participated in too many beta tests for MSFS2020 and now 2024. It used to be fun to test but ultimately my main desire is to fly. I return to SU1 with hopes that the final SU2 issues will be resolved.

But you guys knock yourselves out

Well, those brave souls should be thanked for contributing to the stable product you will be using when it is released.

If Asobo would have warned for the dissappearing addons and settings then people could have made backups.

There are a few hundred people working on the MSFS versions. So more than enough of them to test a beta before releasing it to the public.

This should not have happened. Period.

Luckily I am not on the beta ….

For me this Beta is another let down (at this time) because of the lack of important VR fixes, they've fixed a fair few bits but generally ones with little to no votes on the official forum. They fixed the #2 item being the Toolbar going AWOL, but they've (not yet) fixed the #1 & #3 items which are very important (EFB and Mouse going AWOL when returning from Menu). Plus the performance is dog doo doo, yes they're "logging" stuff in the background so that may be the reason, but SU1 performance is bad as well so I'm not so sure.

Mainly though it's Asobos complete inability to code for the Mouse that is incredibly alarming, why they can't get the most basic Mouse usage right after all these years is anyones guess, lack of talent? incompetence? lack of desire? there's got to be a reason for this major failing for theirs.

In the meantime I'll await the next Beta Update in the vain hope they fix the issues above (like they said they would for SU2...), but if the "logging" turns off and the performance is still cat wee then I'll just uninstall and go back to MSFS2020, I'm beyond tired of waiting for them to fix the obvious.

Performance is outstanding!!!!! I gained 12 FPS and reduced VRAM by 4 GB in my Crystal. Make sure to enable Fixed Foveated Rendering.

A who raised the 30000 bugs, which were logged/reported/tracked some time last year (reported by Jorg in one of the livestreams)?

What you said would indeed not be acceptable. But you were wrong in what you said. So there it is - the bug in your post! 😉 Now you can try to find a bug in mine!

Not true.

I did for my Pico 3 but there was zero change in performance, it's working as i can see the "blurred" outer area (which is too big for my liking) but it did absolutely nothing. I really have to lower my SS as well, it's just simply worse than MSFS2020 performance wise when Asobo said it should be the same if not better, nah it aint for me!

Also remember there is coding in this build that can cause performance issues, that will be removed before release.

What's wrong with the mouse? I use it all the time.

How could they warn MS Store users about something they didn't know would happen?

So we can catch bugs that Asobo/MS can't because we have hundreds of different sim and hardware configurations they can't realistically test?

That should be common sense.

They would have known had they done the bare minimum testing. But you can defend them all you want. Makes no difference to me, as I uninstalled FS24.
