Sim Beta 2 - How can it be so unstable/inconsistent?

What choice do they have when the program was released in the state it was? They’re just treating the beta as a way in to a working program, to use it in a state that it should have been in at release! IE left with no choice.

They can use 2020 or any other sim and try 2024 again when SU2 is released. As for a "working program", with close to 300 hours in 2024 it works fine for my needs. If someone hasn't been able to fly since day 2, they probably should have gotten a refund on day 2.

An unstable beta? Oh dear, that's terrible! And - we're not even getting paid for it?! I'll probably just add fuel to the fire here - but, jeez - unstable beta? Aren't betas inherently unstable?

  • I will explain it to you! Back when 2020 was released, initially there were no public betas. Asobo in house testing was missing a  lot of bugs, and most of us would suffered with bugs between official

  • Maybe it's because it's a "Beta"?

So far no issues and a bit better performance. Flying RJNK to RJTT in the default a320. Just entered decent phase, so we will see how approach goes. Not getting those pauses when I mouse look like I was before the patch. Seems they added features to the EFB from what I can tell to. I see export and import as an option when I loaded my saved plan from the web.

Let me explain it to you. There is no testing going on except us. This is not acceptable. We should be the LAST LINE OF DEFENSE, not the ONLY LINE OF DEFENSE.

It would be one thing if they actually took our feedback but they do what they want they don’t even do that.

How do you suggest I do that when SU2 crashes on my system 15 seconds after I get in the cockpit?  I have reported the CTD to MS and supplied them with requested information.

When I can actually fly in SU2, I will do so.

You're all good.  The beta is there to report the bugs.  All you can do is report accordingly.

I think what tends to happen is beta users get a bit "cranky" when it doesn't work for them.  All they need to do is report what's broken and then head back over to SU1 until bugs are resolved.

There's no point staying in SU2 Beta if it's going to make our virtual flying life miserable.  I don't see the point of that.

Summary : a bèta is there to test the updated software  and find bugs that then can be fixed.

Not being able to test it as it deletes files/folders is not the idea of beta testing.

And even when only Store users are affected, it only shows that Asobo did not test it thouroughly before releasing it to the public.

Imho the release and how it is going up to now is very messy.

Hopefully it will be better in the coming months …

Good for you. That’s not really the point I was making though.

It literally is.

No problem getting back to SU1 with the steam version, only takes 5 minutes 🙂

External Storage Three 4Tb HDs

So from what I've read, this is a good beta.   Good new features, performance and fixes.   As expected,  just need a few rounds to get it stable on the wide variety of environments out there.  👍

Message from Asobo Community Manager

Hi folks,

To be clear, we can and do expect players enrolled in the beta to fly as normal and use all your favorite mods and add-ons. One of the reasons we have public betas is so that tens of thousands of you can test the latest builds under the same conditions you would fly normally. It’s impossible for our internal QA team to individually test every possible permutation of hardware configurations and addon combinations, so having players from the community participate in public betas from which we receive both your written feedback on the forums and automated telemetry data is absolutely essential to us.

However, we ask for a little bit of effort on your end too. If you encounter issues with the sim, particularly ones related to stability (CTDs) or poor performance, first try temporarily disabling all your addons before coming to the forums to complain that the test build is completely broken and unusable. Start from a base/vanilla setup and then gradually re-introduce your mods to determine if any of them are the source of your problems. If you’re still experiencing crashes and/or poor performance and/or other issues with a base, mod-free install, then let us know the details of your issue.

And as a final reminder, please remember that the public betas are not and never have been “early access” or “sneak preview” builds. These are pre-release test builds that, by their very nature, are expected to have bugs and issues not present in the current live build. If you are not comfortable using a build that is potentially unstable and may have other issues, then we highly encourage you to exit the beta and remain on the regular release build.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Thats between a rock and a hard place isn't it, considering the quailty of the initial release.
