Beta 4 is out

Flic1, Once you get some time with the Challenger you will really enjoy it. At first i was frustrated figuring things out and now it is one of my favourites. At the other end of the business jet spectrum also from x-aviation is the Cessna C525.....worth having a look at in the future.

I have never tried the betas of XP12 and am tempted with what I'm reading about the latest beta.. One thing I have not come across is how to get rain effects on the windshield. Also I hope in the not too distant future is to have aircraft weather radar.

The weather radar is already functioning they have not released the api for developers to include it yet. I suspect they want to get clouds sorted first.

Really enjoying the Challenger and each flight gets easier.  I will definitely check out the C525!  Has always been one of my favorite aircraft....

Really? I have not seen anything related to the revamped weather radar in the 12.2 changelogs so far.

As far as I know: that « weather radar » should be coming with 12.3. Initially it was planned for 12.2 but got postponed. What works so far is the same old 2d-based weather-radar and not the new one that will include all 3d functionalities like tilt and should come together with an Api, for the addon-makers to include those new functionalities into their addons.

I confess that my patience to close my eyes to the inconsistencies and limitations of the other SIM is getting emptied...

Was watching a few vids of the "new" pmdg 772 and it feels so detached from reality when it comes to such basic stuff as the feel of inertia that it's simply not acceptable, at least for me...

Then the weather, it's effects and how they impact flight and systems, basic stuff like having popup instruments like in xplane which are a true mess in the other SIM, and so on and so forth...

This morning I loaded xp12.2 beta4, the Toliss 319, and did a short LPPT-GMMX... Wow, what a feel, what a smooth and gorgeous ride !

The ground handling is always something I notice first when dipping back into XP from MSFS - the feeling of the aircraft actually being in the space is so much more realistic - no matter what MS do, it still feels like it's just an object being told how to move to look realistic - whereas with XP it feels so much more like the aircraft is actually existing and lurching and wobbling in a real life space. Hard to explain but you all know what I mean 🙂

I am still having so much trouble controlling small GA aicraft on small runways with any sort of real weather being applied in MSFS, it's hard to keep the aircraft even on the runway - with XPlane, in the same scenario, it handles challenging but beautiful.

I tried a flight from EGKK to Faro using the streaming satellite imagery and it just looked appalling on approach. I really hope they put some effort into getting the scenery as good globally as MSFS, because that's the only thing holding me back now.

What did you use? Map enhancement pro to use bing maps works decent, better than auto ortho imo.

yeah I was using map enhancement pro, can't recall which provider in all honesty

Google is awful I find, try bing with it, looks way better

I tried Apple after someone's suggestion and I stayed with it. At least for Europe and Africa, the only areas I have enabled in Xp12 with SimHeaven too, it looks great!

The clouds and turbulence of XP are unmatched.  I did a flight earlier from New York to Toronto in the Toliss A319 and it was pretty good overall. The layering and cloud colors look quite realistic. I’m using simheaven and you can tell it’s outdated, but it gives me better scenery than default.  I’m now doing the return flight in MSFS 2024 in the Maddog, and let’s just say the clouds and turbulence leave a lot to be desired.  Performance seems to be worse for me as well.  I should note I fly exclusively in vr.

I agree with the rest of your sentiment, but in all honesty, I don't find the above to be the case at all.

In general, I'm mainly focused on GA rather than airliners (I just haven't the patience for the lengthy aircraft setup for each flight).

In MSFS, most of my time has been spent in the A2A Sims Comanche, the FSR500, and the BBS T-6 Texan II. In the distant past, I used to spend time in the Default TBM and C172 G1000.

In X-Plane, I mainly fly the SimCoders Marchetti, JF Arrow, AFL King Air, AoA T-6 Texan II, and XA C525.

And in both sims, I only fly with Real Time Weather.

While I strongly prefer the flare, touchdown, and rollout in XP, I don't have any issues controlling the MSFS add-ons down into or while on any sort of runway in MSFS (and I REALLY like small airfields 😎).

What I HAVE found, though, is that it takes significantly more time to get the flight control response set up in MSFS.

A lot of the "toy" feeling in MSFS really disappears once custom joystick & rudder curves are configured.

Give that a try - it will make your time spent in MSFS more satisfying. 🤙
