2020 Simmers Fight Back

Featured Replies

It is getting more clear every day, Msobo are not providing 2020 Sim updates (except for scenery) and they have convinced their Dev partners to do the same.

This includes Inibuilds who have started making sceneries for 2024 only and stopped with 2020 scenery updates 😠

This is despicable, throwing the 2020 simmers under a Bus.  They want to keep charging exorbitant prices for FS2024 and force simmers to buy.  The Steam reviews are as worse as ever.

2020 simmers must fight back, and not buy 2024. These Devs don't have the cards. 2020 simmers do. Without customers they are not sustainable.  And they will Crumble.

2020 simmers could use the sim optimization updates, but with a good system FS2020 is relatively stable. Plus we have all the addons already.

The latest reports of the 2024 Beta is that it's a Streaming mess. Full of Stutters, Freezes, CTD's, and probably BSOD's too!   The streaming experiment has failed. It will always fail.

There is trouble in paradise folks.

Didn't they just release a city update for both sims? When I look into your post history, I seriously think you need to touch some grass.

I don’t know, I am using 2020, but this guy is running a beta with 3rd party scenery and almost all settings on ultra. So I don’t think this one video is much to go on. As for all the complaints from other users, I would say don’t run beta? And too late for me, I already bought 2024. Will probably be quite a while before I can use it.

My opinion of Asobo has done a complete 180 in a very short time. After 2020's rough release I knew better than to preorder 2024, but even I was surprised at how underdeveloped it was at release. However, I had some confidence that they would quickly sort out its more glaring issues within a few months. I was wrong.

But more disappointing is the utter abandonment of 2020. Yes, I understand that developers shouldn't be expected to support a previous version of software in perpetuity, but considering how MS and Asobo promised a 10 year commitment to 2020 when they announced it, it would have been the right thing to. It's not as if they lack the resources to do so, and the financial benefits of supporting the stable sim haven't evaporated.

Not that they care but I no longer hold Asobo in high esteem. They abandoned their promise with one sim in order to focus on a alpha build they charged $200 for that months after release is still feature incomplete and broken for all but the 30% of simmers who get off on lying about how it "works great for me!"

This is the point.  They promised 10 years of support. Then quickly ditched it all (except for scenery) when 2024 arrived!

Sim update 16 was cancelled.  They didn't even discuss it in the community updates!

Another myth. They did not! They talked about commitment to the franchise, not MSFS 2020 specifically.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 With 10 Years of Post-release Support

Patches, updates, new modules and airplanes, as well as add-ons

That is not just scenery updates. That is 10 years of proper updates including Sim Updates.

Just be aware of what you wish for: if MSFS2024 is becoming a failure because of us simmers (customers) it will backfire as such as the whole MSFS franchise is dumped by MS (again). Thinking that they will abandon MSFS2024 and return to MSFS2020 is naive at best.

And to be fair: just think some years back. Imagine people did such a fuzz in the times a new sim was released every 2-4 years (FS95, FS98, FS2000, FS2002, FS2004, FSX). And back then, often the products were 100% non-compatible in the new sim.

Greetings, Chris

Ah, so we're stuck with either accepting broken promises and broken products or having the sim we paid for taken away from us via end of support. Let's all be grateful for our gruel.

I don't know.  MSFS2020 was amazing for me and I'm grateful that MS and Asobo got us into an amazing sim, miles better than what we were jig sawing together with FSX and P3D.

However, after a rocky start, MSFS2024 is working really nicely with SU1.  I jump in and out of the SU2 Beta and that works really well for me too however I also understand that it's a beta.

So, with that said, I am currently enjoying a host of amazing airports, aircraft, sceneries and utilities with MSFS2024.  It's the future, it's here and we really should be thanking Asobo for their dedication to it and helping us with this amazing hobby.  After all, we could all still be sitting here continuing to Frankenstein together FSX and P3D and reveling in cockpit shadows courtesy of the DX10 fix.

Cheers all and enjoy your virtual flying!

Again, a perfect point!

MSFS2020 was rubbish. Good riddance to it.

I think Greaze's sanity would improve if he switched to Xplane ^^

That's such a loose promise it can't even count as a commitment.

You can't put a warranty on a CONCEPT.
