It's so exhausting hearing this over and over. Yes. Default is disabled.

I noticed this too yesterday. Gonna do the scenery index clearing thing.

Side note, pretty wild how it uses TWENTY-NINE GB OF VRAM!!! …I really do like the runway and taxiway texturing though.

Appaertly the issue with bumpy taxiways in Atlanta is a user configuration or mod conflict problem from what I'm being told on the Discord. I mentioned that my ADI is all over the place, banking left and right while taxing, only to be told, why are you looking at the panel while taxiing? Don't go to the Orbx Discord for answer.

It wasn't the Dev but one of the protectors, 😂.

A new update will be dropping soon which should address a lot of the issues.

Why? The airport is obviously tremendously popular.

They and Matteo need to just fix the issues, and that seems to be happening.

New Atlanta update is out.

KATL Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is now updated to v1.0.3 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024!

Important: You can now toggle between "standard" and "simple" mesh modes via the control panel within Orbx Central.

Grab your copy here: https://orbxdirect.com/product/katl-msfs2024

Changelog:

-Reduced Draw Calls

-Reduced Nodes

-Reduced VRAM usage

-Improved PBR reflections over ground poly and building surfaces

-Added a new mesh system called "simple mesh" that removes all the terrain bumps/artifacts while keeping all the iconic Atlanta runway profiles and elevation

-Added, as requested by Atlanta lovers, the iconic "V loop" that is inclined with realistic elevation changes

-Fixed floating objects and taxiway signs for most of the airport surface

-Fixed broken "Renaissance hotel" animated elevator

-Improved definition of the terrain for west parking

-Improved definition of surrounding terrain

Note: Animated cars and GSE vehicles for the new mesh system "Simple Mesh" may have some vehicles that do not perfectly follow the terrain elevation. This is under development and will be fixed in future update.

Does not make the sim any worse as far as I can tell.

That Error message is largely flawed and has been since Asobo shoved it in our faces then refused to give us a toggle to get rid of it, thankfully there's an App on Flightsim.to that hides this pointless message (amongst others);

So in about 7 days, Matteo managed to fix most issues. This looks like it went from one of the worst airports ever created, to one of the best airports in less than a week. That's impressive!

Can someone please test if GA airplanes are parked in the Signature parking area or are there Airliners placed where they should not be?

Last question, has anyone tested this airport with BATC?

Thanks.

From the developer.

Standard options is the standard mesh, which is more precise and with all the elevation changes throught the entire airport surface. This might have bumps.

Simple mesh is more simple mesh, no bumps at all. Keep all realistic runway profile, Vloop and cliffs. But no elevation changes throught the airport surface

The latest update seems like another step in the right direction. I haven’t spent a ton of time with the update but first few circuits and some taxing around the airport show some improvements. I no longer see any floating lights or objects, and while still some stuttering, it seems to be marginally better.

The simple mesh keeps the proper visuals of the sloped runways, particularly on the north complex while flattening out most of the ramps. Not seeing any bumps and still have tech ops hangers at correct elevation and also the whisky loop go down and back up correctly.

I have not measured vram usage on my system with this scenery but I am optimistic that further optimization can squash or at least minimize the last of the micro stutters.

Eager to see a proper PSXT file once Nico returns from his leave especially to populate some of the parked aircraft on concourse C.

It was a bit of a bumpy launch but Atlanta has never looked so good before in the sim. The texturing particularly of the taxiways and runways seem spot on to my eye.

Thank you Matteo for the continued effort. You are close to having an exceptional product!

Well i have the v1.03 update installed and i am seeing good performance in my sim (MSFS2024) with a pretty much solid 60fps with some slight decreases to around 56fps periodically. Normally my fps does not budge from 60 as I am locked at 30fps and run 2x FSR. Sporadically I see the odd jitter in frames, but nothing substantial or long lasting. No errors so far with VRAM and I have a 4070 Super card installed.

Regarding bumpy taxiways, they appear most prevalent on the northern side and have not observed any major upsets of my aircraft (A330-300), but the taxiways are definitely not flat (using the standard mesh configuration)! In general I found myself having to use more thrust and brakes in order to counter the effects of sloping taxiways as you would expect.

I did see some flickering of the Delta Fly Jets hangar door mural, but this only appeared to be an issue at dawn when the sun rays hit that hangar door, otherwise appears normal.

Overall based on the limited time spent taxiing around the airport, I think Matteo has done a good job of addressing the previously reported issues.

Is the airport worth the €30 ($35) in my view?

Yes and No. Yes, if you are looking for a detailed, up-to-date layout of KATL but No if you are looking for high quality textured buildings. These are IMHO of lower quality than the taxiways and could be improved, but at the expense of potentially lowering performance. For me it is worth it since I never purchased a KATL scenery before with the previous sims I had installed, so this gives me a new US hub airport to fly into when I am bound for the States.

Hello,

I just want to make a clear statement about what this 3 update does.

This update introduce a new mesh system called " Simple mesh " which is optionable in the control panel. Simple mesh provide a semplified mesh for the airport which this does not mean is all flat. Both mesh ( standard and simple mesh ) provide elevation changes.

Standard mesh offer a more accurate rapresentation of the mesh, with elevation changes also for ramp zone and throught the entire airport ( a perfect replica of the real life ) but this unfortunately could lead to have some bumps in the mesh due to a bugs/limitation of simulator. Another limitation with standard mesh is due to slow loading time of the standar mesh this could lead to have sometimes floating objects, e.g. taxiway signs.

Simple mesh offer more simplified version of the mesh. You won't have any bumps and floating objects at all now. With simple mesh you have flat for ramp zone and mostly for the taxiways, that in real life are about flat, but keep all the elevation changes for the iconic part of the airport; like runways and V loop. Also simple mesh keep all the cliffs around the airport.

For texturing all the main terminals and mostly all the main buildings comes with 4k textures which are very high quality and photorealistic.

ATL use also an innovative ambient occlusion system ( unique for this scenery ) that provide more realism to textures.

Lasty this update has improved the performance again. I have reduced drawcalls drastically, for who loves to know the numbers; now there are about 2k drawcalls at the airport (initial release was more than 50k), drastically reduce the nodes counts and reduce texture size without affetting the quality. Now i can say Atl is one of the most optimized scenery out there.

The release of Atl was some flaws for sure but now i am proud to say after 3 updates all the report issues have been fixed.

I will continue to update this airport over the time by listening to the community feedback.

More updates with extra improvements are coming soon!

Thanks to everybody for support.

Best regards,

Matteo

I still dont like the price. (There I said it. (Shoot me)

Insides could be a lot better.

That is it. The rest has been fixed or is a lot better.

Not being able to fly to KATL has been hard the last couple of years. I simply refused. Hard to do when most of your flying is done on the east coast.

This is the grittiest most realistic airport I have seen in 2024.

It just looks real.

Pretty...not even close. Nor is the real thing. I love it and I am glad I got it.

i really hope the international terminal gets some rework to see more of the inside.

I'll be happy if or when the gate numbers are added to the jetways.
