With SU3 I decided to instal the aircraft to stop the short redrawing of the instruments.

Seems to me it made no difference and now we have the dreadful beacon.

Hopefully there will be an update but currently the lighting is a mess.

That is exactly my experience with it as well.
If they could fix the beacon and the slow loading instrument redraw, then I would be happy with it.

I really want the B55, but as it (from what I have seen) mirrors the beacon issue in SU3, I am worried it might share the slow instrument redraw issue as well.

The other Carenado aircraft don't have these issues, although they do have other ones - anyone else have the duplicate landing / taxi lights in front of the C210 and 182Q now? Like small glowing orbs in front of the aircraft when it gets dark?

If it isn't down to Carenado (and because it was good it SU2 I don't think it is), then hopefully Asobo can fix these issues in SU4, along with the over-strong landmark lighting of a night time.

  • Carenado really need to address issues with the planes already released before I will consider any more, but other than that, I wish they would do the Apache and Navajo again.

  • With the Black Square B58 analog up and coming I don't think I can commit to the B55.  I liked their Dakota and F33 but the C210 was really buggy... and still is.  If the B55 comes out relatively bug

  • It would indeed appear so.. which is a shame.  The effort to clean up the avionics would not be a lot.. I did it for the F33 and C210 just because these are aircraft I like to fly.  I then sent the fi

Yup.. only workaround is to turn off the Beacon,  for now. 😉

I'm passing on the B55. I'd rather spend the twenty-five squid on a takeaway curry and wait on BlackSquare now.

The duplicate lights was introduced in SU3 beta. Nevertheless Carenado seem to be accumulating what is now a small mountain of generally insignificant but annoying bugs.

Eighteen months ago they did fix a lot of this small stuff in their 2020 offerings on a plane by plane basis.

Time for them to the same thing in 2024 me thinks....

In real world terms, the B55 is quite a different plane from the B58, just as the V35 and early F33's Bonanza's are quite different from the 36 Bo's.  I have a soft spot for the Baby Baron having spent a lot of time in one, and would still like to have one is MSFS even after the new 58's appear from Blacksquare, but... yeah.  Just not this one unfortunately.

I'm in for the curry.

Chicken Tikka Masala for me as well at the moment!

I love Carenado's airframes and texturing, and I can even overlook some of the systems omissions or inaccuracies, but they need to do a few bug swats occasionally.
They have never been good at that.  Just push the current one out the door then straight on to the next one.

Indeed.  While I prefer the more complete stuff from Blacksquare or A2A, I'd be happy with some of the Carenados for occasional use if they'd just clean up one or two silly little things.  Back in the FSX/P3D days, Bert Pieke did yeoman's work at doing a lot of that cleanup, to the extent that I'd only consider buying a new Carenado plane if I knew Bert was buying it.  And there were a few that I really enjoyed flying once those things were taken care of.  I put a lot of hours into their 337 Skymaster, for example.  Not perfect, or 100% authentic, but I still enjoyed it.

Now, with the Marketplace planes essentially locked up...

I'm in virtually exactly the same boat as you. Spent my early career flying charters in a C55 and fondly remember it as the best-flying aircraft I ever got my hands on. Sadly, but not unexpected, Carenado will not do it justice, even though it looks pretty enough. Never much liked the Milviz effort either, but I'd certainly would prefer theirs. No idea if that's even on their list to do.

I'm now holding my breath for the Blacksquare Twin Commanders instead.

I recommend their F33 actually.  Bert did a mod somehow lol.  Seems to work with the GTNxi just fine now.  Tim and I did a few paints as well.

For what it's worth, Carenado did get back to my bug list email regarding the B55.  So there is a hope they may fix it.

Something that i have noticed,

As per the norm, Reviews of the B55 have come out and on all that i have watched, None of them seem to have the "Beacon" issue.

When you watch all the review video's, You see the rotating beacon on, But appears to be working normally. Could it be a "steam vs Marketplace issue?

The rotating beacon worked beautifully on SU2 ; a really impressive animation.

After SU3 it stopped working for both the Baron  55 and the Bonanza F33 so we wait for the next version.

Important notice for our customers:

After Microsoft’s Software Update 3 (SU3), some visual effects, such as intensity and positioning, may appear altered in the B55 and other aircraft. We’ve already submitted updated versions with fixes to Microsoft and expect them to be available in the MSFS2024 Marketplace very soon.

A revamp for MSFS2024 of their B1900D with somehow updated avionics, G1000 for ex. would be really cool!

Just an idea...
