Thanks for letting us know this Ian.

Appreciate it🫡

You're welcome. you realise this is a discussion forum, right? And that I was answering a question labelled 'thoughts?' Hence the whole point of the forum...

What is sad is this type of ‘playground’ bullying here at Avsim, that is completely uncalled for and un-needed.    For the record, I don’t try and bash Anything or sway anyone anywhere. I simpl

I kind of doubt it...  Asobo decided to change the LOD rules a few system updates back, in order to improve performance and save memory, and objects that do not neatly fit into that design, pop in in a noticeable way.  Taxi way signs are the most obvious example..

I suspect that if someone would redesign all the taxi way signs with multiple LOD levels, they would behave differently.

Hi man, thanks for answer.

And thanks everyone, feels good to get so many to help and share knowledge🥰

I have mostly the trees and buildings popping, kind of re-rendering when getting close. They are there, but suddenly they change. Like maybe the model changes or something? Do you have that thing with the taxi lights?

Yes I do and I was thanking you. Tell me, do you have a large record collection?

Surely the most ignored person on Avsim but still he keeps trying.

Incidentally, when you have someone on ignore, shouldn't that include when they are quoted? Am I missing something in settings?

If you've not already done this it might be worth a try, especially since you're thinking this has not always been the case for you:  do fresh new install of Windows, install all chipset, audio, GPU drivers, then a reinstall of 2020.  DO NOT install Lossless Scaling or any other adjuncts.  Just run MSFS 2020 straight up as if it were a virgin install, keeping the native rate at 30FPS.  And then you might also try my method of frame locking which I used in 2020 and continue so in 2024:

If yout theory is right and it makes pop ins because of hardware limitation, limiting the now around 50fps to 30 or something for a test, could give it a headroom and then it should not do the pop ins ?

Tell me, why do you ask sarcastic provocative questions? What does that bring to the debate about poor LOD?

As I thought, but clearly not as I was able to see it.

At the very least if you don't care to do complete reinstall of everything, uninstall 2020, uninstall GPU/chipset/audio drivers, and reinstall them all w/ the latest for your version of Win 10, then reinstall 2020 and keep it fully default new install.  Your controller settings will be retained.  I've advised you to what I would do if I was unable or unwilling to upgrade the hardware.  Beyond that, I can't offer any other suggestions.  Good luck

Yeah, with my batc traffic set to '5' and enroute traffic set to '6' and my tlod at 65 it was no wonder why performance had some stutters on landing. Little pop ins, though.

Thoughts?

I have a slightly stronger CPU than do you and I find BATC w/ FSLTL traffic, BATC's traffic management, is quite taxing on frame rate.  That, and I really do not like its traffic animation as it's herky jerky and I've tried it all to improve that all to no avail.  So I use BATC for ambience and do follow its ATC instruction, but use FSLTL's injection.  This reduces FPS burden by about 50% of what running BATC's injection does for roughly the same amount of AI traffic.  That matters greatly here because I do not use frame generation of any kind so don't have much wiggle room play with.  I also like this approach, which obviously kills a big part of its raison d'tre for most users, because I can then use Premium voices, assigned to my controller only, and this dramatically cuts down on character use.

The way I understand it, the re-rendering is part of the design.  The models have different resolutions (LOD) that switch as you get closer.

With a faster system, these effects become less noticeable or ideally, invisible.

A separate problem is that there are models that do not have different LODs, like taxi way signs, and they just pop in as you approach, no matter how fast your system might be.   **Update: read below for fix.

I just remembered I installed this a while back.  Not because of pop-in behavior, but because it was cheap and had good reviews as an enhancement.  This might be just what is needed to offset the taxiway pop-in issue that some have:

Yup probably a couple factors involved especially with third party scenery/enhancement addons.

My Saint Barts scenery is heavily modded along with REX Global Airport textures layered on top.

Meanwhile I don't get any pop in issues with my Paulo Ricardo Rio de Janeiro Scenery on any approach direction.

Also factor in Global Ships, FSLTL and GAMod planes/ static objects and it's one big demanding scenario.

Typical cost of doing business with having so many different addons running alongside each other with different methods and levels of LOD work.

Good catch!  Just installed it ($5 purchase in the Marketplace) and yes, it solves the popping taxi way signs problem!

Oh, I get it. Despite what some have implied I was merely discussing my results. Thanks for listening. Traffic and TLOD are the biggest hitters. No pop-in/out issues for me but only when my cpu is being hammered. Huge airports with a higher traffic setting pummeled it but FG/gsync etc made it doable. Lowering to traffic to more pilote levels.... say enroute traffic 2, all others 3, really helped at big airports.

I think tuning traffic to 2 at arrival airport for batc and keeping autofps below 45 at bigger airports was the kicker. Basically anywhere else in any plane has great performance. It's only these airports like Heathrow, EGLC, Kennedy etc. Heathrow is busy.  Its default. But I have scenery surrounding london including the "vessels" mod. Looking sgain, I had too many settings for traffic turned wwayy up. Fixed.

Noel: I have FStraffic and have batc use their models. Wayyyy better performance than fsltl or aig. I prioritize FStraffic, fsltl and aig last.

Keeping the above settings have kept me happy for several months. Not ludicrous fps chasing.

Yeah and everyone sharing their results is helpful. Less time tweaking and more time flying with everyone collaborating
