AI Advice for MSFS Graphic Settings

Featured Replies

Saw on a FB page that folks are using ChatGPT to get specific details on how to optimize their PC's for max performance in MSFS.  You just tell it what your PC's specs are and if you are wanting max FPS or more biased towards better graphics, I finally decided to try it and found that AI recommended some significant changes to the settings I had previously thought were optimum.  It gave me a long list of suggested changes, ranging from in-game graphics settings to tweaks on the Nvidia app and to my PC itself.

So far, I'm pretty impressed with the results.   You guys should check it out..

Interesting🤔

i7 12700K , DDR4 64GB RAM @3600MHz, Asus Z690-Plus D4 MB, Gainward 4090 RTX Graphics, 850W Corsair PSU, Kraken AIO watercooler, Nvme 1TB ssd, 1TB ssd, 500GB ssd.

Very interesting.

My understanding is that AI just scours the internet and tries to consolidate all the random information it finds into what seems like an authoritave answer.  Granted I am an AI skeptic, I think the technology has lots of potential, I'm just not sure it is there yet.  It is a "garbage in, garbage out" problem.

When I see a potential tweak, I want to know:

1) What is this intended change going to do?  "Your performance should improve because...X"

2) What are the potential problems of this change?

3) What testing was done before and after the change? What were the results?

I mean, FlyBoy98765 swears by it, so it must be true, right?  AI is just trying to aggregate all of those posts.  There is value in that of course, but just because something is repeated a lot, doesn't mean it is accurate.

I posted the example awhile ago of how AI is looking at my Facebook feed.  There was an article from The Onion (a well known satire site) about a "study" that says humans spend 97% of our time getting and plugging in two factor codes.  AI wanted to know if I wanted to know more about this study.  I clicked on it, and AI did seem to suggest that the Onion has posted satire in the past, but it isn't sure.

I don't mean to be a technology naysayer, just maybe an "exercise caution" sayer.  🙂

And this is absolutely the case for what WE read, scouring the internet.  It just scours far more than most of us have the patience to carry out, a zillion times faster, and in doing so is likely to be way better than the average joe trying to come up with answers to complex questions themselves.

AI can be great if you already know enough about the subject matter to determine what is good advice and what isn’t. Otherwise beware.

Yes, but following my simple steps, I have more faith in my ability to filter out the garbage than some AI.  There absolutely is value in aggregating data on a mass scale, but there's still so much "snake oil" out there.

I'll take my simple test (IE does the person know why this works?  Did they test it?) over AI's aggregation.

There's also the problem of AI making posts, then other AI using those posts to give us answers.  I don't know what percentage of the internet is bots pretending to be human, but it is definitely greater than zero and probably alarmingly high.

Again, I'm skeptical.  I was looking for the start time of a sporting event so I asked in my search engine.  AI came back and told me a specific time - that was 100% wrong.  Not even off by time zones, but the minutes were wrong too.  A very simple question with no real uncertainty.  What time does this thing start?

Start using ChatGPT, not MS' AI built-in to search engines which in my fairly deep experience is way superior to MS'.  Understand the results generated are a starting point that is vastly superior to what you will take the time to research--you simply won't, that's what it comes down to.  It will look at everything you look at, and 10000x more in areas you never thought to look at.  It's also very good at recognizing garbage. You don't accept results w/o question, you use its results as a starting point.  It's also critical how you structure questions especially when seeking information about complex multilevel questions.

I did this just now for fun...  I think the results are very good.  It's very similar to how my own settings are.  The only thing I don't like is DLSS.  I run TAA because DLSS blurs glass too much.  I do think DLSS works well with better fps on analog panels though.

That is exactly how I thought when GPS units first came out. Garmin, Tom Tom, etc.

Thanks Ryan.  I had never tried ai but took your suggestion with my specs.  The answer was instantaneous.  Plus some suggestions of how to make it even better.

I'm not a skeptic. I think AI has truly mimicked human intelligence and completely surpassed it. It spews out perfect pros and waxes lyrical about a myriad of facts and concepts in a multidisciplinary fashion that exudes plausibility and credibility which in the long run turns out to be utter 💩. Just like the erudite and highly intellectual humans we used to rely on to get us into every mess that history has bothered to record only far better at it. Can't wait to see the utterly 💩consequences our species faces once we start to let AI make the big decisions for us!🤣🥸

Have you tried DLSS DLAA Ryan?  To me that seems as good as TAA in many ways though I don't fly much with glass cockpits, so can't really make any judgements on that aspect?
