  • There is another cult called PMDG.

  • To be honest the MSFS forums a bit of an echo chamber for negativity at the moment. Admittedly that isn't difficult given the state of the sim for a lot of people but you have to be careful to not let

  • It's their own forum though - they can do what they like. I don't think it's that dramatic.  Sometimes threads just get moved or merged into a duplicate topic.  And people think they're deleted.

Agree. There are 2 sides to every story, and everyone who has been banned from a forum somewhere will always claim they are completely innocent, much like prisons worldwide where every inmate would claim they did nuffin' wrong.

If you actually spent any real time on the official forums since 2020 till now, you would see most of the conversations and content were really just a bunch of enthusiasts having genuine, harmless, organic and sometimes critical conversations. The conversations were seriously being suppressed by overzealous unnecessary moderation. The incompetent overzealous moderators and flawed auto flagging system really turned off the majority humble, helpful and very knowledgeable user population who actually made the place something new and refreshing from older flight sim forum communities. Most of the original 2020-2022 population of great members have moved on. So now the place really feels like a stiff strict, walk on eggshells boneyard environment of grief. Your blanket generalization of "trolls and banning" just come with all aspects of social media, no?

The majority of people don’t care about “organic” conversations. In other words, we don’t want to hear some random person going off-topic and rambling about the good old days, or ranting about how MSFS2024 sucks and X-Plane is the greatest piece of software ever.

SU3 introduced a bug with LODs in VR.  It severely affects the PMDG 777s.  Someone (not me) found a workaround.  Kok made a post showing how to do the workaround in dev mode and did not cite the original discoverer, but he got it wrong and showed the wrong setting in his post.  I made a nice post (not mean or anything), highlighting the correct selection.  I made screenshots in VR, showing the setting on and off, with the effect on the VR cockpit.  I suggested he fix his post, which was sticky'd.

Came back in a few days to see if any comments.  He fixed his post.  No credit to me.  And the SOB deleted my post!  Gone.  No reference.  It was even gone from my post history.

That guy needs to retire and just go somewhere else and yell at kids to get off his lawn.

Yes, PMDG is worse than the official forums.

And one wonders if the reason why he was fired from Aerosoft was for the utter failure to manage the A330 project? The guy is one of the most incompetent people in the business.

I'm pretty sure he announced he was leaving weeks before he did on the AS forums. Doesn't sound like a firing to me. Be careful what you write.

Yeah.... I think people definitely don't always tread lightly around here...

Anywho. I think avsim is probably the best place for flight sim discussion. Good place to ask developers questions before its muddled in a sea of discord comments. Discord is alright but id rather go here first.

Even when its full of grumps. 😁😃🤣

I am not a fan of Discord. It may be a much more direct avenue to developers, but it just ends up being more of a chat forum than serious discussion. Maybe I am getting too old?

Then I retract what I said if that’s the case with my apologies. I thought there was issues surrounding that project that led to a parting of ways.

Most times you cant even ask anything because too many people chatting at the same time and you question goes away in 3 sec.

This is especially true after a patch release when all the kids losing it 🤣
