Might as well expand the potential userbase if you can. I wonder how it'll perform compared w/ Xbox. I use PC so it's not really relevant to me, but it'll be interesting to see how well it launches.

Yeah I saw that the other day, predicted it a long time ago when MS/Asobo elected to use WASM for 2020.  Only one reason to use WASM, platform agnostic = more users = more sales = bigger market place.

You already can play on them, via the cloud.

Personally, I very much prefer using my PC over my xbox. But more power to you if you like flying on your Xbox or playstation! At the end of the day this should be about having fun.

Thrustmaster and the like will be doing well if they release PS5 compatible joysticks and hardware. Devs who sell through the in sim  marketplace will do good as well. Just 15 years ago we thought flight sim was pretty much done, now we've got MSFS and an ultra real world on PC, Xbox, PS5 with a thriving developer ecosystem, new peripherals and fantastic freeware for PC. A moment of respect to our friends who did not get to see this time.

Gaming is going mobile and console anyway.  It's a smart business move.

That being said I think it will also help the rest of us niche PC users as more cashflow is more updates, a healthier ecosystem.

Also I think the Tokyo shots were using the new photogrammetry they accidentally enabled for a weekend in late July.

This is definitely the best day for X-Plane.

I want MSFS to be a stable, reliable, enjoyable, profitable platform, for the long haul.

I will just say this to anyone tempted by the pre-order: I will never, ever pre-order software from Microsoft or Asobo ever again.

Microsoft is again going for short profit over long profit. You only get 1 chance to make a first impression - and last November, Microsoft released MSFS 2024 in a barely functional state that did not live up to half of the marketing video.

A year later, MSFS 2024 is still not very stable or reliable on PC, let alone Xbox (even though there is some improvement in Sim Update 4 Beta testing, WASM, VRAM, and CTD issues still require leaving most of the default planes in the hangar and live traffic off.)

So how they expect anything but disappointment on Playstation before it works for existing users on the native PC platform is a mystery to me. I wish them luck. I do want the platform to be a success - but letting the marketing department dictate when things are ready, as opposed to the software engineers, is repeating a costly mistake, and burning any goodwill that the user base has left, in my opinion.

It seems Microsoft only cares about the initial bump in numbers of people trying it, and doesn't really care about the numbers of people who then abandon it because it simply doesn't work as advertised or as expected.

As long as the focus remains to create the most realistic flight simulator, the more revenue the more backing the more features we get.

As mentioned by others, flight simulator was pretty much dead, we only had p3d performing cpr on the old fsx code to keep it going.

I went through some of my old fsx and p3d screenshots, what a long way we have come.

This is good news and was an obvious move once MS started to launch major first-party IP on Playstation.

The player base will expand, and there will be even more peripherals released, along with better and higher quality sceneries and other addons. Glad to see that MS is no longer stuck on Xbox alone.

It is for me.

Live traffic is working for me without crashes in SU4, as are the default aircraft I've tried. Which so far is just the airbuses and C172

But yes there is WASM issues for some 3rd party aircraft, but it's a beta, issues should be expected.
