The proof is that if you're in "Departure" mode, you have "Exit Aircraft," and as soon as you start taxiing, "Exit Aircraft" disappears. Beta. It can always be changed to be moved somewhere else or what ever. Whole point of it if you don't like how things go maybe its best people don't sign up for it. I could understand if they released it once beta had finished but its still going. No need to be strongly worded feed it back via official channels and they will take the feedback onboard like they have. "Why it was added" no one knows my guess something for Xbox and PlayStation users.
