December 2, 2025Dec 2 Even if we assume this is v7 or something replacing P3D that is available to the consumer community... I'm not sure what to make of this. v6 was a huge step forward from v5 IMHO just for the Lighting / Atmospherics improvement...but not a big enough step forward to bring developers back to P3D. I use v6 and I already have to spend a lot of time tweaking to install things and make them work properly, so the idea of another version removed from the latest supported version of P3D would only make that work (if it's even possible at all to make old versions work). Still excited to see what this will bring, though.

December 2, 2025Dec 2 I believe this is real. The video is on Lockheed Martin's youtube page. While this is exciting, especially if they use satellite imagery and imagery-based building and vegetation rendering, I highly doubt that any scenery or planes from previous P3D versions will be compatible. Hopefully, the SDK will have easy to use tools for scenery and plane creation. From their website it seems they are revealing it at I/ITSEC which is going on as we speak. So that would indicate this is of course meant for their commercial customers but we will see how it can maybe link to us lowly consumers. "4. New Simulation for All Environments We’ve quietly developed a state-of-the-art simulation engine that will serve as the backbone for all of our training solutions. It will also be available for integration into training solutions currently in the field. See it first at I/ITSEC."
December 2, 2025Dec 2 VERY non-consumer event ( but man I’d sure like to attend!): About I/ITSEC The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) is the world’s largest and most influential event dedicated to modeling, simulation, and training (MS&T). Held annually in December in Orlando, Florida, I/ITSEC brings together thousands of professionals from defense, industry, academia, and international allies to explore the technologies, strategies, and partnerships that are shaping the future of training and operational readiness. In today’s rapidly evolving global security environment, warfighter readiness is more critical than ever. I/ITSEC directly supports the U.S. Department of Defense’s top priorities, including force modernization, AI integration, data-centric operations, and joint force interoperability. The conference is a strategic platform where mission-driven innovation meets real-world application—enabling military personnel and mission partners to prepare for complex, multi-domain challenges through immersive, adaptive, and scalable training solutions. I/ITSEC is hosted by the National Training & Simulation Association (NTSA), an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), and is built on a long-standing commitment to interdisciplinary and international collaboration. Attendees span all service branches, federal agencies, global militaries, educational institutions, research organizations, defense contractors and the commercial tech sector—united by a common goal: to advance the effectiveness, efficiency, and realism of training through next-generation simulation and education. What to Expect at I/ITSEC: Peer-reviewed paper presentations on the latest research and applications in MS&T Professional workshops and tutorials designed to build skills and knowledge Special events and high-level panels focused on policy, innovation, and emerging technologies A high-tech exhibit hall showcasing the most advanced training technologies and platforms The Serious Games Competition, highlighting gamification and training effectiveness STEM outreach events for teachers and students, fostering the next generation of innovators Whether you're a defense leader seeking mission-focused solutions, a technology provider pushing the boundaries of simulation, or a researcher exploring the future of immersive learning, I/ITSEC offers unparalleled access to thought leadership, cutting-edge tools, and strategic partnerships. I/ITSEC continues to drive forward modernization and readiness goals by serving as a launchpad for innovation, a hub for collaboration, and a global forum for advancing training excellence. Join us at I/ITSEC—where simulation meets mission success, and readiness begins.

Very true, but to be clear: this doesn't mean this won't be available to port into P3D or as a new "version" available to consumers. We know LMs simulators are geared towards this audience, but that doesn't mean we can't reap the benefits as we always have 🙂
