MSFS 2024 Surprise Hint Surfaced

I play PGA2k25 and they had a crossover with Borderlans (a sci-fi shooter).  Guess what?  It is still golf and I just ignore all the stuff I don't care for.

Wow, I bet the die hard golf fans took that like a bull in a china shop. How on Earth did they shoehorn a science fiction shooter into a golf game??

  • Hello @Sonosusto, I won't try to convince you that you should install the Stranger Things add-on when it releases on December 9. If you don't like it, you don't like it, and there's nothing I can

Oh, Die Hard has a helicopter rescue  scene in it, and we all know it’s a Xmas film…

Yeah you should read my posts and see what exactly I was talking about and the core sim items I outlined.

I have read your posts, hence my reply, lol. You focus a little bit to much on ASOBO/MSFS neglecting catering the 'serious simmer'. I disagree. The current state of SU4 beta is excellent; I'm convinced future updates will improve even more on all these core elements that are important to you. And to me as well!

Dont worry I’m not hating on your sim of choice

I wasn't worrying, but thanks for the concern. I use multiple sims by the way.

2024 is my main sim but a lot of us are getting tired of waiting. These extra addons, they’re good for the platform, but my point was we should be getting announcements like this to fix the issues I pointed out. ( if you bothered to read).

Again, I bothered to read, but I see things differently. I understand what you're saying, but maybe I have a little more faith than you regarding this matter.

Cheers, Bert

I also presume that the Microsoft's product analysts aren't looking at the market impact of all of these "Pop-Culture DLC" releases, two of which have been advertised by MS in the past four weeks

From "As Real as it Gets" to promoting this.....wow.

You really seem to like drama. I hope you realize 'hardcore' content is also being promoted extensively. And as said by others, there are so many more realistic addons as compared to the Dune stuff. I'm really having a hard time understanding your problem...

Sometimes I buy an assortment box of cookies. Some I like, some I dont. But as the cookies that I like most are not available seperate I keep buying the box and I hope that there are other people who like them all.

He means that if management and the "bean counters" see the fictional stuff selling like hot cakes (and the more serious simulation stuff selling like road kill in comparison), Microsoft may eventually decide to cut back on upgrading the more serious simulation features, and concentrate more on the fictional stuff.

I know what he meant, I can read. I think what he means is far-fetched hyperbole.

  • MS product analysts note a bunch of new customers or an uptick in existing customer engagement following Stranger Things DLC (or pick anything pop-culture in the future) or the promotion of fantastical third party products.
  • MS product analysts and bean counters (pick your accurate job title) say, hey more media attention, customers, and money compared to just regular airplane and landmark DLC announcements and releases. Pop-culture DLC releases make the big news and entertainment websites.
  • MS/Asobo MSFS told to make more Pop-Culture. More press and fans.
  • MS/Asobo MSFS team say, hey we want/need to develop the next realistic plane and landmark pack highlighting country X and airplane Y. MS bean counters say no, the money is in the hollywood and fantasy DLC, focus on that as there is a better return on investment for our shareholders.
  • Next iteration of MSFS due. Bean counters say sales won't be good enough unless you focus more on fantasy and hollywood stuff from the get go. Don't just release a boring airplane game. Regular planes won't be dropped completely, but it won't be a priority. Development is prioritized based on estimated return on investment.

I've worked with MS (not for, with) and similar companies. This is how they operate. It may even be against the wishes of Jorg and the actual team, but while he has influence, he doesn't get the final say in strategic direction.

We'll see what happens in the coming years. Not saying 2024 will totally shift, it's too late for that, I'm talking about the next full program.

This is far and away the most unhinged and uninformed post I've ever read in my time on Avsim. You are so laughably wrong lol. Are you just messing with us?

On reddit there was a nuclear meltdown apocalypse of emotion.  The game was done, people were quitting in droves.  It was the biggest gaming injustice in the history of video games.

A couple days later and everyone went back to playing golf.  😀

The thing is, these "crossovers" are getting more and more common as companies find unique ways to market their products (they see all the $$$ in video games and want a piece).

My guess too is that a little "controversy" ends up being free publicity, which is probably exactly what the company trying to advertise a product wants.

Don’t get too upset about me calling out some issues of the sim, I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings. You’ll be alright.

As mentioned, I have been a big supporter of this sim and still am. Just wondering why there’s issues outstanding 1 year out and why we haven’t heard anything from the team like they used to before release…. Remember all the deep dive videos before the release each sim….

Let’s hope su5 brings in more core content. Not just bug fixes and regression fixes.

Let me make it clear I’m saying this very calmly and in a relaxed manner. No one is having palpitations that you seem to be projecting on others. 🤡

No one is upset that you're pointing out issues with the sim. People have just been pointing out that you're taking thing way out of context. A Stranger Things collab is not going to speed up or slow down the features you want. You're a commercial member so it is surprising that you cannot wrap your head around the fact that programmers working on getting the sim in the shape it should have been at launch will not have a lot of time to spare to give us all the things we'd like to see added to it. From day one, Jorg said if he had to do it again, he'd have the sim in beta for about a year first and it looks like his estimation was spot on considering how things are in SU4. Jorg and has also said multiple times that once the sim was in a stable state, they would start to knock out items on the wishlist. They've been very transparent about how they're handling the sim. If you expected the surprise to be weather radar with tilt then that's on you.

What was it that they did? Was it just billboards in the game advertising Borderlands, or were characters from that game popping out from behind trees and taking shots at the golfers?

Like you calmly said one guy who disagreed with you shouldn’t use these forums, and another should just go away.

Seems the one with hurt feelings might be a bit closer to home?

The fictional stuff selling like hot cakes that’s given away for free? Erm….
