However, one does not have to add it to their library. If you don't like it, ignore it. No clutter whatsoever... I'm glad you said it because a lot of people have unrealistic expectations and are going to be sorely disappointed to find that next gen scenery is just a more optimized way of storing files and will not result in an overhaul of the global scenery. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. I'm just not afraid to call a spade a spade: XP's ground textures/scenery isn't great. Nor was it back when the considerably uglier Prepar3D was the dominant competitor - hence the rise of Orbx TrueEarth (which, IIRC was released first for XP, and always (still) looked BETTER than the P3D version 😉 ). We don't know how good the Next Gen ground scenery will be, and I'm confident it will be a significant improvement over current, but if there's no satellite imagery (and there won't be), then... So, "Lighten up, Francis". Truth NEQ Bashing. 🤙 Edited December 7, 2025Dec 7 by UrgentSiesta

I think it'll look much better than now - they know they have to improve, and that was probably a big part of the reason to bring MisterX6 on staff (ref his SFD Global). But again, the scenery realism standard of satellite imagery was set long before MSFS was a thing. I don't even know which company was first to market, or if freeware ortho images came first...? I pretty much came in to the scene when Orbx Global OpenLC and the EU/NA regionals were finished up, and right before TrueEarth was revealed, so that's my reference point. I.e., when it was still a big (expensive 😉) deal to have satellite-based scenery. MSFS is great because it's included Out of the Box, and at no extra charge. 🙂👍 Edited December 7, 2025Dec 7 by UrgentSiesta

I was crazy about OrthoXP and downloaded many TBs of satellite images. The results were addictive at the time (6 years ago?), but in practice impossible to sustain and keep improving. Such a relieve that MSFS came out blue and ended all my hassles of self-managing satellite images, and MSFS has such a light year better graphic engine. 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11

If you don't, you'll never know it existed.. It's nothing like preinstalled bloatware. People are just complaining for no reason. It's as if Inibuilds somehow forced everyone to buy the 340 - no, it's in the marketplace for you to decide, just like this (and this will likely be 100% free). 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

December 7, 2025Dec 7 Indeed MSFS has spoiled simmers everywhere. The only one who could maybe catch MSFS 2024 is Elon if he could spare 1% of his net worth. dd

That's the big question. All we know is Taog posted the announcement at the same time as MS on their Discord, so they are involved somehow (and of course there's a Huey in the video). I'd love an updated version of their Huey, but I don't know if that would be free. I can't imagine Taog doing a dumbed down version either. Their 2020 Huey works in 2024 so at the very least we might see that. It is kind of sad that one of the more realistic helicopters is getting lost on other discussions, but again, we don't know. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
