What I don't like about SU4

Well, at least you're now Future Proofed.

Oh the irony! 🤣

It should be interesting to see 2024 finally....TAKE OFF....in terms of user base.  Too bad PC hardware has gone crazy cost-wise.   I am again blown away by the entire experience.  I thought I would have tired a long time ago but still, 30+years later, I'm MORE jazzed to get to fly than I've ever been.  I'm an avid golfer, avid street motorcycle rider and if I had to toss them out in favor of retaining simming, I'd probably do it!  Hard to believe for most I'm sure but for me, it applies.  2020 showed us the basics of ortho scenery built in, but 2024 SU4 has taken these basics and polished them to a gorgeous, multifaceted sheen.  Did a flight from lovely Bergen, Norway, in a downpour, landing at EGLL in the Fenix A320 IAE SAS, accompanied by BATC which for me has finally turned a good corner as AI traffic animation is finally very decent and performance improved, and Self Loading Cargo with added AI voices from ElevenLabs has elevated the experience nicely.  Landing at EGLL in late dusk lighting the landing was absolutely stutter-free at my locked rate of 60FPS-fg, unlocked 109FPS-native.  Sharpness/clarity is just about as close to photo-real as possible, or at least as good as my vision can resolve. With a good 14 flights in SU4 now not a single hitch of any kind.  I don't have the nasty delay in full resolution complained about by some when cockpit<>external view is toggled.  I see landing gear under AI aircraft.  I am...the Blessed One, aka One Lucky Sucker!

I really don't like that I can't hit the top of the leaderboards in the Red Bull races! I've been struggling to hit the top 15, let alone top 10! Obviously cheaters or poor flight model... I mean, I yank back on the stick at 200kts and I practically enter a spin?? 200kts! That is like... 150kts over the stall speed! Asobo obviously doesn't know their aero-plane-dynamics!

I'm gonna end up needing a VKB stick or something just to catch up to the cheaters and overcome these unrealistic flight models... pfft!

You can stall at any airspeed

AI TRAFFIC IS MOSTELY A JOKE. The AI aircraft pilots are too often either drunk or just sleeping during taxiing and approaches. They collide and miss to set GEAR down too often and the aircrafts are flying around in a confused way. MS/ASOBO should kill all AI Traffic code in MSFS2024 and build a complete new AI traffic engine and new AI APIs so 3rd parties could make their own AI traffic DLCs.

I'm almost positive he's joking 😉

that a year and the community trying to fix it for them,

a.  the vram useage with using dlss frame gen is awful

b.  they still cant fix wasm issues.

Shhh! I watched a crop-dusting YouTube video where the AG pilot mentioned an argument he once got into with an airline pilot with "18k hours" who was adamant it is impossible to stall a plane above its stall speed. Showing the airline pilot that graph may hurt his ego 😁

(and yes, I was just being sarcastic!)

One *simple* thing remains for me:  where the heck are simple Fly-By and Tower views?  I found ChasePlane way more than I wanted and did not like what it took to setup basic views--much more hassle than the uber simple Ctrl-Alt # we have in MSFS.  I've nudged its dev to consider a simple version just offering those two features and got no reply despite a couple efforts for them to look closely at this which I believe would have a huge market share compared to their uber complex ChasePlane.

No doubt.   I would pay $$ even for a simple little app like that (one keystroke Fly-By and Tower views).  I'm wondering if there is a way to do it right now though, using the SAVE CUSTOM VIEW / LOAD CUSTOM VIEW combos...you'd probably have to set it for each aircraft though, which would be clunky.

Good luck buying RAM now....price gouging everywhere,  completely unjustified.

Wow!  I just checked the prices.  I'm glad I got my 96GB a couple of months ago!

Even then it was overpriced.

This is pretty scary actually.  How can one be in aviation and not know this?

One of my best mates is at EZY.   He gets called out from standby for 2 days to sandbag on 2 days of sim session's  (for those of you that dont know what "sandbagging" is  its when you go into in the sim but you are not being tested for your OPC/LPC/LOEX ETC, but the other person is)  As was in this case the skipper in the left hand seat.

So back to the story, he gets called out for the 2 days as an F/O  to sit in as a sandbag for 3 direct entry captain assessments at CAE.  They were accessing a 3 different Direct Entry Captains over the 2 days who had come from Wizzair, Aegean and SAS

The SAS and Aegean guys did great no problems there, but Half way though the sim assessment the TRE who was assessing the Wizzair Skipper just stopped the sim and asked the Wizzair guy to leave the building as his skills were terrible, (in short he kicked him out)  he also I believe reported him to ther CAA/EASA as his skills were so bad he shouldn't really be flying.

In the 25 years I've been in the game Ive never heard of a TRI/E  throwing someone out of the sim because he was so bad and then go as far as to report it to the authorities etc etc.  The trainer was livid at the whole thing, hence kicking him out of the box
