RELEASE NOTES Sim Update 4 - 1.6.34.0

General Bug Fixes:

On PC, fixed a crash that could happen when going into “MyLibrary” from the notification panel.
Fixed a rare crash due to the ribbons.
Reduced memory consumption during avatar thumbnail generation.
On PS5, fixed an issue that could lead to a user having a duplicated account, and progress/purchases were sometimes attributed to the wrong account.

"Fixed a rare crash due to the ribbons."  Great!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Oh good, I had that CTD.

Dev want to leave on holidays emptying their backlog

Backlog would not be empty by holidays.  More likely they want to focus more on MSFS 2028 😉

I think the devs want to focus on getting a life for awhile.  🤥

My release notes in sim are the standard MSFS 2024 - Release notes. No mention of the usual actual number. No 1.6.34 or the like. On Steam. Is this what everyone else sees?

Thanks

Haha ... that depends on their age ... the older the more life time you want, the younger the more you want results to work as intended.

For some reason that I can’t figure out, the latest release has added a stutter that happens every 2 seconds. It’s a big bummer when I haven’t had any issues with 2024 this whole time. I’m really confused why SU4 seems to have degraded performance.

Are you using any third party anti virus? If using Defender, have you excluded the sim? This commonly happens with some antivirus programs (Webroot).

9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

Correct - lots of stutter here, especially on and around huge airports with lots of traffic, but as well in rural areas with less dense scenery and photogrammetry.
Was much better in .33.
Quite disappointing to say the least.

For me the initial loading time has gone up quite a bit since .34. Loading packages takes a long time now (both Community and Community2024 folders empty).

For me, ever since the third SU4 Beta, this stuttering is a consistent problem even through to .34

The only way I found to mitigate it was reducing TLOD to 100 whilst on the ground. I use the free app AutoFPS for this.

i7 12700K , DDR4 64GB RAM @3600MHz, Asus Z690-Plus D4 MB, Gainward 4090 RTX Graphics, 850W Corsair PSU, Kraken AIO watercooler, Nvme 1TB ssd, 1TB ssd, 500GB ssd.

I am having very poor performance at an airport (any airport) which in the prior sim session (same day) I had excellent performance.

For example empty Community folder KBFI (Boeing Field, Seattle) with Asobo Baron G58 cold and dark on a GA medium ramp.

Sim starts at 60 FPS (FG and sim locked at 30).  If I stay out of cockpit and pan around I see a steady 60FPS.  Enter  cockpit, turn on systems, start engine, CTRL+Z and pan - the frame rate drops to 1 or 2 and sometimes freezes for 15-seconds.  Return to cockpit and frame rate slowly climbs to 60.  Move view outside again and poof! back to one or NO FPS.   If I let the sim sit for several minutes the frame rate climbs to 60 and stays there.  But, as soon as I try to start taxing - FR goes to 1 again.

Changing sim settings to LOW - no increase in frame rate.

The VRAM usage stays below 95% (~11 GB) and the CPU usage, for each processor, never exceeds 30%.  When the frame rates is less than three I find every thread in the sim is in a wait except for Main which is using about 1% of the CPU.

Stop sim and restart it, with the exact same scenario as above - FPS never deviates from 60.

This happens at many airports and makes SU4 less than enjoyable or even useable.

Did not have this problem in the last couple SU 4 Beta updates
