explain about the xml thing?  I have this plane and never fly it.  But if it's impacting my performance even when not flying it I want to know about it!

He probably just means the FSLControlCenter.exe entry in EXE.xml - no different to any other app like FenixBootstrapper.exe (Fenix), MDClient.exe (Maddog) etc.

The updated Maddog MD-80 maybe ? The original version was just too expensive in my opinion but the new version with the additional variants included is a much more reasonable prospect.

This. At €25 it's simply a no brainer. For all the PMDG moaning and groaning it's a beautiful and fully developed rendition of the 'universal' airliner that will perform better on your 3060ti sys

so just a way to automatically close their app instead of doing it manually I suppose.

Oi José, it looks like you already have a podium, based on significance for you:

  1. Tristar ($50, if you don't care it's Marketplace-only)
  2. 727-200 ($43 and $20 extra if you care about the Super27 improvements)
  3. 737-700 ($30 since you have the 2020 version)

In that order, if I understood you correctly.

Nah, regress and get to grips with the BAe 146's TMS!

my big issue with the 727 is the virtual cockpit looks really poor quality.

Don't forget the CSS 737 ... mixed reviews, but always an option and only $5 or so if you want to try it for a month.

In the P3D versions, the developer would attempt to change my graphics settings in order to improve their aircraft performance.  I contacted them several times suggesting my graphics are “mine” not “theirs” and this is an aircraft not a “performance tuning tool” … no response.  So they lost my Trust and now I manage anything they try to load during MSFS 2024 start … the aircraft is great (no complaints), but their reputation not so much.

I leave the entry in my XML, just disable it when I’m not using the aircraft.  Does it have a performance impact, no idea, but back to the trust thing and less is more.

PMDG has released my only 737 purchased for FS 2020.

I also own their 777 for FS 2020, not the freighter, and the DC-6.

The L-1011 is my iconic airliner - that aircraft means a LOT to me after the 747-200/300 which were my first kits (Airfix and Revell) back in the late 70s of last Century 🙂

Then there's the FSS 727-200 and the 727 was yet another very symbolic airliner for me, and one of the airliners I preferred to stare at at the old Lisbon Airport spectators balcony (mid to late 70s of the 20th Century), until the terrible TAP flight 425  (727-828B) which made me "hate" 727s for a long while ...

So, comming to my request, I would like to get your suggestions regarding the purchase of only 1 of the following:

- INI L-1011

- PMDG 737-700 for FS 2024 (owning the 2020, it's $30)

- FSS 727-200

- any other suggestion? Just Flight Bae 146 ? Other ?

Is there a GOOD BAC 111 ?

Thank you guys !

WOW - those are some tough choices to narrow down!

They're close (enough) in price that I wouldn't worry too much about that aspect, either.

My usual advice is to go for whatever is MOST different from what you already have, because most of us are buying new addons at least in part due to boredom...

I feel like I've heard you post about having at least several modern airliners already (in addition to above), and since the PMDG 777 is 2024 Compatible, I don't see a compelling reason to go for the PMDG 737. Especially since the MAX is included in the game if that itch ever really hits you.

So, that leaves us with the L-1011 or 727, neither of which I own (tho I do occasionally still enjoy the excellent FJS 727 in X-Plane 11).

Out of the two, the L-1011 is clearly the most different. Additionally, it's a jumbo jet, and all the technology Lockheed poured into that jet was/is impressive. iniBuilds always delivers very good graphics, and the recent update indicates they're at least somewhat serious about raising the fidelity of the addon and fixing the worst bugs.

OTOH, it's iniBuilds, and they have a ton of addons to build and maintain, and I'm pretty sure the Airbuses are going to continue to get the lion's share of attention simply due to popularity. So, caveat emptor.

So from your list, yeah: L-1011 (assuming it's still getting good reviews).

I'm gonna throw you a curve ball recommendation: the FSW LearJet v2.0. As fast and as high as an airliner, steam gauge cockpit, or with GPS, OR with TDS GTNXi moving map. So no matter what kind of flying you're seeking, chances are it can accommodate. And I'm just in love with the physics - they've done a bang up job. My favorite part is that while being deeply simulated, the aircraft itself is simple enough that you can go from cold n dark to ready for taxi in well under 10 mins. After all, this is supposed to be a FLIGHT simulator, not a COCKPIT simulator! 😆
I mean, just check out this gorgeous cockpit - it's practically flies like a fighter jet!

The JustFlight 146 opens up some different types of challenges such as steeper landings into places like London City and more traditional navigation with VORs etc. You need to stay on top of it too as there's no auto-throttle. It offers something different to following the magenta line.

I enjoy flying it into Vagar while doing some old Atlantic Airways ops; chuck in some dodgy weather and it's great fun.

AMEN, brother!! 🙂

It looks like you're going for the classics - so I could recommend the inibuilds A300. Great simulation and still a fair amount of real world ops taking place too like I like to do (DHL, UPS, FedEx) . Also at a decent price for two engine versions + Pax and Cargo.

Was just going to post the same suggestion.  Although I have not flown it in a while, the A-300 is a well-done aircraft.  I can second the FSW Lear 35 as well although it may not be what OP is looking for.  All this talk of classic airliners and I just treated myself (finally) to the JF RJ Pro.  Have always sort of wanted it but never pulled the trigger.  After figuring out the Lear, I now have another one to learn...

Strongly don't agree with this recommendation.

I bought a 1 month sub around 5 months ago and it was terrible - completely unfinished aircraft.

It's just been updated so I bought another sub last week and I'd say it was about 5% better than the previous version! So unpolished and still lots of problems with things like standard AP keyboard commands not being binded.

So, as you already own the -700 for 2020, to me it seems a no-brainer.  The quality that you will get for that $30 is superior to most of the other options, IMHO.

That thing is so hard to fly, but in a good way, I love it.

It so reminds me of switching from the Cessna to the Learjet in FS 4.0, you’re climbing through 1,000ft but your mind is still sat on the runway. Don’t firewall those throttles!

I'd like to ask a question if i may : do i see quite a big difference between the cockpits of the PMDG 737-700 and the Inibuilds L-1011 as far as texturing/materials are concerned ? I just saw videos of both these new additions particularly designed for MSFS 2024 and i can't help getting the feeling that PMDG might have used the full monty of the 2024 SDK while Inibuilds might not have.... At first glance i'd say the 737-700 cockpit looks astonishing beautiful (i did fly the wings off of the PMDG MAX in FSX) while the L-1011 looks absolutely wonderful too but misses the superb sophistication of the textures/materials i see in the 737 cockpit. Big fan of the Tristar, fantastic to see it has landed in FS2024 but i can't already forget how exceptionally good the 737-700 VC looks.

So how about it, FS2024 PMDG 737-700 pilots, am i on course as far as the (more or less) full use of the 2024 SDK has been applied for this "Best Looking VC Ever !" ??.....  (only based on watching a video of it )

Thanks a lot for your answer ! ( for the time being it's either the 737 or L-1011, not both..;-)
