For those who will miss the FSLTL injector....

Most of the time IFR - or, actually, almost always !

If mostly IFR, I recommend BATC. For $30, it's a steal of a deal. It's still in development, but blows away default and the injector is very good.

All good things come to end.  I LOVED the simplicity of FSLTL.  I just liked when I was moving around an airport there was eye candy.  Disappointing the fate of this program.  I knew things at FR24 we

Indeed, it is about the money --> people expecting to get paid for their work and effort. How dare they! Get a subscription to RealTraffic --> --> problem solved!

So, over the last couple of days I've completely switched up my set-up. Bye bye, FSTL, and hello AIG + PSXT + RealTraffic.  Have to say, I'm impressed.  Yeah, RealTraffic costs money. I

Just to clarify, as I’m not sure I’ve understood correctly:
In the Sim, i’ve set it to Real-time Traffic and than the Sim uses the FSLTL models for that ?

And than you have flying Traffic ?

And i use still MSFS2020 !

And I’m still hoping that the FSLTL Team will find another way !!

cheers 😉

I no longer have v2020 installed.

I'm a bit confused here...so if I let MSFS control the traffic but I have AIG models installed, they will fly flightplans? I was under the impression that forever circling aircraft, low passes over the runway but never landing, etc. is part of what happens no matter what unless using something like BATC or SI.

AIG only uses FPs when you use the TC. This requires you to disable default injection.

MSFS

What’s worked better for me is treating model matching and ATC as two separate problems. If I just want believable airport traffic in 2024, default real-time traffic with better models can be good enough. If I want proper IFR flow, spacing and vectors, I still end up using a dedicated ATC layer because that part still isn’t really solved by the traffic feed itself. So to me the FSLTL injector disappearing is more about losing a workflow people were used to than losing the only workable setup.

I think also if you find that the MSFS Online traffic injects those odd default MSFS AI aircraft that it shouldn't, it's from FSLTL not having the appropriate models or liveries.

Edit.. Ok, so I went and tried it with only AIG and my custom ai aircraft collection and the default Live Traffic while not bad, still left A LOT to be desired. It still uses msny default MSFS models and liveries that aren't even close to what it should be using even though they are available to use and it has no idea about using the correct livery to the reg where applicable. Ie new livery, old livery, special livery and so on. Movements are also no where near as close to smooth compared to PSXT. Lots of traffic seemingly stuck mid taxi etc.

I gave the sim 25-30mins to settle down traffic wise and still only had 21 aircraft on the field at LAX at 1750local, but there was steady arrivals on the outside parallels at least and everyone arriving/departing on the correct runways etc.

TBH though, I couldn't wait to turn off the default live traffic and fire up PSXT where LAX has a more accurate 95+ aircraft (only set to 75% mind you), everyone parks where they should, they don't d1ck around getting on or off the runways etc and they are all in the correct liveries.

I know it's not to everyone's budget or appeal, but honestly this is where I'm glad for SayIntentions. The injector works the same way as FSLTL (ie set and forget) but you have the added benefit of it all being controlled in VFR and IFR. And there's pop-up IFR as well which is something I've been wanting for ages.

I do wish there was a more accessible solution - can't beat free - but anything else just feels clunky to use.

As Noel posted, I've also been using BATC to control my aircraft, but BATC's AI stutters quite a bit whenever I use its AI. The AI stutters as they move along, but BATC's ATC itself is fine.

So lately I've been using AIG's injector with BATC and letting MSFS' ATC control the AIG traffic. Not ideal, but the AIG traffic moves smoothly.

What FPS have you set in the BATC settings? It needs to be at least your low average in-sim FPS, preferably more if it still stutters. I have it set to 60 FPS and it‘s fine.
Keep in mind just like Vatsim it will never be 100% smooth because its position is being injected into the sim rather than calculated by the sim itself (like with default / FSLTL / AIG default traffic).

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I've taken a similar approach. I've taken the FSLTL models and just let the default ATC run things just to see how it goes.  Yes, there are multiple instances of aircraft running through me and each other in taxiways. They continuously request takeoff clearance while I can only do it once and then sit there and wait.  Once airborne, I may get instructions to climb to a higher altitude then filed (or capable of due to weight).

But to sit at the threshold at a KSFO or KLAX and see a stack of dots off in the distance that are arrivals in sequence or to see heavy traffic in the air is a great starting point for the default ATC to improve upon.

I think the key should be to have models stay separate from injection and have ATC tied more closely to injection from the same source. Whether that is BATC or PSXT or FSHUD or whatever - it should all be tied to the live injection source that MSFS natively uses as ground truth.

Can anyone using default real AI traffic confirm whether small GA aircraft are provided too?

Each time I've tried it, I've never seen GA traffic - just airliners.

I'm going to try an experiment this evening, where I'll try using Corsten's Content Disabler, to remove all of the default airliner AI, to see if I can get 2024 to inject only the sim's default GA models (which think are pretty good).

I'm seeing a fair amount of GA aircraft parked and have seen some taxiing as well...in my three flights using default RT traffic.

I have to disagree, TC uses no more memory than any other addon program. I run it all the time for every flight and never saw a memory hit using TC.

For me, TC leaks memory like the Titanic at every airport.

I'd love to use it because Beyond Traffic has a significant impact on performance and Live Traffic isn't suitable for me as I don't fly in real time in the simulator.

I have just downloaded and installed AIG was not as tricky as I expected.

Had a quick look and the models are excellent and it seems to inject a good amount of traffic but I am not seeing any GA aircraft so far so not sure if I should download all the flight plans that are offered I pretty much went with Global.

H.

AIG is great for airline model coverage and schedules, but in my experience it does not really solve the GA side. I use it more for the airliner side and then let the sim handle whatever GA it can, so I would treat the Global flightplans as airline coverage rather than a way to fill in small GA traffic.

This belonged in the recent thread that was locked:  try default RealTime traffic.  I'm first trying this now at SKRG and I couldn't tell the difference between it and FSLTL

I tried it, but at SKBO. I saw several A320, 787 and 747 in the Airbus and Boeing factory colors. I guess it was default MSFS traffic aircraft. How did you manage not to get so?

Here’s my config that has worked well:

MSFS 2024 Settings > General > Online > Traffic Type > Real-Time Online,
MSFS 2024 Settings > General > Graphics > Global Rendering Quality > [Parked Aircraft Quantity is OFF, Parked Aircraft Variety is irrelevant, and the other two are as high as you prefer or your system can manage],
FSLTL Toolbar Window > [the two “Parked” values should be as high as you prefer or your system can manage]

I tried AIG but the local airfields are ghost towns, GAMOD is a bit hit 'n miss as I had a 747 wanting to take off from a grass strip...! I just want a nice blend of airliners and GA, so sticking with the above seems to work OK, not great but it's something and better than nothing.
