Aerosoft releases update for their A346

There is one issue I have everytime Aerosoft issued an update (so two for two now). Afterwards when loading the aircraft the external model is missing. This is caused by the layout.json not being automatically updated and I had to run it through the generator myself after both updates.

My guess is that you have gsx pax enabled which is more likely the culprit rather then the plane itself.

this can be easily corrected by untucking and re-ticking the pax option in the gsx manager rather than reinstalling the whole shabang.

I haven't used it much either. The frame rates were acceptable, but it took 15 minutes from pushing "start flight" until the aircraft was loaded. I just tested it: it's down to 5 minutes. Some progres

I do indeed. Good catch.

FMS froze here with the update. Am I to assume this is a WASM issue?

All things considered, I remain hugely disappointed with this addon.  Each time, I really try to like it but there are always so many issues and 'non-optimal' things with it on every flight.  I was a huge ToLiss fan in my XP days but all of the areas of contribution by Aerosoft are just so weak.

I told myself I could live with the awful texture quality in the cockpit, if the experience overall was good. But it's not.

The single only thing I like about this plane is the flight handling characteristics (hand flying).

I deleted it last night and - until it gets a very significant update - will stick with the Ini A340, when I need to scratch a 4-holer itch.

Considering the price of this, I find it the biggest overall disappointment, since moving to 2024.

I don't understand what's your problem with the cockpit textures. I have the INI 340 and Fenix Airbus and the cockpits quality all look the same to me. What quality issue are you having???

It's not the textures it's the modeling. Have you looked at the overhead recently? Or the geometry of the sidestick? It's atrocious.

Really? They are drastically different (and inferior imo) to both the Fenix and the Inibuilds in my eyes. The whole cockpit looks flat and plastic in comparison.

Judging from the preview hype, this addon was supposed to be the shiznit.

I guess not.🙃

For me it's one of the best aircraft addons in the sim. It's such a joy to hand fly. And the best part is, I can rely on it completing a long haul, something I can't trust other developers.

I really hope the A330neo will be next!

First AS must release the API SDK or whatsoever. Then WW can make their HW compatible. Based on my ticket I opened with AS

As far as I know, they already did, together with the last patch (1.0.1). Could be wrong. Maybe ask WW about it.

On my first flight with the new update. The waiting time after "Start flight" is now consistently around 3 minutes. After that, I've had a very smooth experience so far. I really like the airplane now. I also think the cockpit texturing is perfectly fine for an older Airbus. I do not have any complaints about that. On the contrary, I think it is great that they added options for starting with bright displays, adjust wing flex intensity and so on.

I think Aerosoft/ToLiss did a great job with this update. Kudos.

I guess we're flying 2 different Planes. The one I have the cockpit looks great. And the overhead is fine. The sidestick is a side stick. Doesn't look no more plastic or flat than any other of the buses.

My quality issue is that the textures and modelling look dreadful.

It's both, in equal measure, IMHO.  But yes, that sidestick is really poor.

If that's how you measure accuracy, then it's no surprise you don't see the issue!

It's fat and sausagey in the AS A346 and just doesn't resemble the dimensions of the real Airbus sidestick.  In the Fenix it's perfect.  Even the default Ini A330 is pretty good. The AS A346 sidestick looks like it's dimensions were drawn in MS PAINT by an 8 year old.

All I can say to you is that if the only thing you can take away or complain out is a flight stick on a word not allowed good airplane, more power to ya. I'm enjoying the plane and the badly designed flight stick.

I am sure I let it sit at least 30min as I was working and in a call. but let me ensure, start MSFS2024 again, load that A340 and sit with my wife on the terrace in the sun which will easily take more than 30min...

That did work partly. WASM was compiled when I came back after a delicious gin tonic but then the cockpit di not load, blank screens all over. Now I bit the bullet and de- and now reinstalled the A346, currenly compiling again, hope that will help now. Let's see. Just that I cannot have another drink while I am waiting 😉

For me such lazy modelling and texturing is more like a warning sign for the rest to come (or not to come). I could also start talking about the lack of functionality in the FMC (equitime point, climb derates, optimum flight level that includes winds etc.), but apparently you have found something you like about that aircraft and that‘s fine.
For me I see no sense in investing into an aircraft that‘s visually appalling and limited systems-wise (at least in regards to the interactive stuff like the FMC, because this has a much bigger effect on procedures and my experience than an extensive hydraulic fluid simulation or something alike)
