Black Square - Commander 114

Oh man, ya mean we not only have some entirely unrealistik engine startup with the mixture control not being exactly in the right position

Black Square is actually working on a fix for that, how about that? And that fix will make the shutdown of the engine also better 🥳

Cheers, Bert

It's crazy to me that people are now avoiding addons because the timing of an engine start is just a tiny bit off from real life. I'm just shocked. Maybe some of you need to get back into a real plan

Well I'll be darned! I'll reinstall it right away. 😃

Not only that, if you leave the keys in the ignition they stay there for when you next get in it! (Actually, it'll get stolen and it'll serve you right!)

Oh, if you switch the fuel supply to the left tank it starts fine. Or has that been mentioned already?

Cabin temps going up/down to extreme values will be fixed in the next build, thought that was a little weird.

But HOW THE HECK do you remove the key from the ignition once you've shut everything down??? 😁

Click the bottom of the key ring.... BUT.... you must have turned the key fully to left first! I've been taking mine out since the first flight.... I don't want my new baby getting stolen!

PS... impressive mastery of all of those old avionics!

How do you get in and out of the aircraft, I like to open the door and "click" something to get in but cannot see any click spots when trying to get in/out. I know Asobo have screwed up click spots in VR with SU5, but I couldn't find anything in 2D/flatscreen either 🤔

There's a lever on top of the door, that you need to click first (to unlatch the door), then just click the door handle. You can reach both from the ground.

Yeah I've opened the door just fine, but can't get out of the thing that's the issue. If I click the door handle again it just closes the door

Won’t Shift-C work for you?

There are no enter/exit clickspots, though suggestions have been made to add them. Shift-C is the only way I'm aware of.

Oh. Well, you just click Shift+C to get out once you've opened the door. Getting out of the plane by clicking the door handle is a default aircraft thing. The same that when you click handles from the outside, the door opens and it warps you inside. Most 3rd party devs overwrite this behaviour as it's annoying not being able to open or close a door without being warped in or out of the aircraft.

What would the benefit of a click spot to get out of the aircraft be? (Genuine question). I understand clickspots for functional things with the plane (like door handles) but why would anyone need or want a click spot to get outside, rather than hitting Shift+C? ..again, just trying to understand if I'm missing something here.

A clickspot to get in I understand a little more. I notice there's one in the A2A Aerostar, on the seat after you've opened the door. Although I still just tend to hit Shift+C, as that's what I'm used to doing in all other aircraft.

EDIT: Ohh, is this a VR thing? To prevent using the keyboard?

Well done! 😁

I'm good with 1, 2, 4 and, of course, 5 which is a staple in Black Square's piston planes. I just haven't had the urge to tackle 3 yet. Now see what you've done!

Interestingly, there's been quite the discussion on the Just Flight forum around the EDM-800 and the fact that, while it works in terms of getting an accurate lean ROP or LOP, it doesn't necessarily behave as the real unit does leading up to this. Sounds like Nick has already re-vamped the code for a more accurate modeling of the RW instrument for a future update. This guy!

To be honest, I lumped them together which wasn't entirely accurate. A request for an enter click spot has been made. I don't recall anyone mentioning an exit spot in the discussion, but it seems like the same logic applies, at least to my mildly warped brain.

Gotcha! I can understand why clickspots may be preferred for VR users, to avoid using the keyboard.

I have to use SHIFT-C or whatever it is. It would be nice to click on the empty space of the open doorway, but hey.

Interesting how the Commander has Piper Tomahawk-style doors, with TWO latches, one up top and another down low. Same era of plane I guess. The Commander seems to have a mix of a little Beech, a little Piper, and a little Cessna in it.

Good, I cooked my virtual self the other day. It shot up to 120+ degF in just a few minutes. I did think that wasn't quite right.

And it would be nice if you could just crack the door(s) to get a bit of airflow as you might do in real life. But right now it's all-or-nothing, if you shut the door (but you can leave the top unlatched, it'll still be "shut" as far as this airplane's current logic is concerned), it will heat up the plane very quickly.
