Black Square - Commander 114

Featured Replies

I really like this plane.

The trim control is unbelievable.

I can actually land just by trimming the aircraft. First time I have ever been able to do that.

It's confirmed in the JF forums that they are aiming for a release of the 114 next week. There's also a post by the Black Square dev which mentions the 114 but goes into more detail on the upcoming T

This is a newer thing. We have addons so advanced that people are complaining that it's not 1:1 of real life! For 50 USD mind you.

All the while we sit in our comfy office chairs, have unrealistic hardware, very unrealistic ATC, and we look at tiny screens that don't resemble a cockpit at all. Maybe very few have a home cockpit. Still all of this is nothing like real flying.

We're closer than we've ever been for in depth GA addons and people are refusing to purchase because something isn't exactly like real life....it's hilarious.

Maybe I need break from simming. A permanent one.

@ryanbatc Ryan, dude, you can look past people's opinions that you don't like or agree with. Just let it go. Be the better person. At the end of the day, it has no effect on you personally (unless maybe you were the developer). Do you know how often I hear comments like "oh, that wouldn't happen in combat" or that isn't right because it's not in CoD or some other wargame or first-person shooter. I just laugh. If I let that kind of stuff bother me, I would never be on the internet again or even socialize anymore...lol.

It's all good man, it's all good. 😊😊😊

It's crazy to me that people are now avoiding addons because the timing of an engine start is just a tiny bit off from real life.

It's not 'just a tiny bit off from real life', come on Ryan 😂 It's quite different from how you should start that type of engine. (The core of MSFS has it wrong. That's why I hardly use the default C172 as well). It's perfectly fine you don't care about that, but I and others do. Doesn't mean though I don't enjoy the plane once that engine is running. There is so much detail, it is an amazing addon! Nick is a very talented developer. I understand his argument not to model the startup procedure as it is in real life, that developers need to make compromises, but this feature would make this plane perfect! As mentioned before, A2A did it right, so it can be done. I would easily pay more for a Black Square Commander with correct startup procedures.

I might indeed not have purchased the Commander if I had known about the wrong startup procedure before. If it were Carenado I would have expected it, maybe even accepted it. But in this gorgeously modelled and detailed Commander it just stands out. To me it is therefore less satisfying. What is hilarious about that? Like I said earlier, I'm a sucker for realism. I know I'm sitting behind a screen, pretending to fly that plane, but I just like it when the whole model approaches the real thing as close as possible, from startup to shutdown. The starting of the A2A Aerostar engines is just nicer, like in the old days already, with their C172 and C182. Why? Because it is true to real life.

Cheers, Bert

Nothing much has changed. A new thing comes out. Lots of foaming at the mouth enthusiasm. 😁 Thirty minutes later the nit picking starts. Two weeks later something new appears and the cycle starts again. All good fun and nobody dies in the comfort of their sim pit.

A. It’s a little bit cheaper than flying.

Scott, what KSUN do you use? Never found a good one.

Wish I could steer you towards something, but... nope.

I'm using this one: https://flightsim.to/addon/62381/ksun-friedman-memorial-airport

Listed as 2020 only but I haven't noticed anything egregious in '24. Not to complain about freeware but it's just OK. Miss the old Orbx from P3D.

Scott
