BTW... DD is stating in their support forum that they do not "support de-activated airports" in their scenery packages...

All we are asking for, is to provide an option to exclude Meigs airfield altogether..

This may take some arm twisting to get them to re-consider.. 😉

This update has inspired me to install a whole lot of Chicago and surrounding airports, to enjoy the city update with. I bought 4 on the Marketplace (Aurora, Dupage, Joliet, etc) and also some nice freeware from FS.TO (including your very own Lake in the hills and Schaumburg) 🙂

Definitely a cool area to fly around, although unlike New Jersey where I grew up, no mountains.

I disabled the default Meigs and am using guillermozulueta's version along with drzewieckidesign's Chicago Landmarks and am having no issues at all doing this.

I'm using Z Designs 2020 KCGX which is very good with CU15.

It does work, but you are missing out on a really nice rendition of the airfield and its buildings..

I believe this version was done by Gaya and updated for CU15.. shame to disable it..

I don't believe so. It was updated for 2024's launch though.

I just noticed the night lighting on the buildings in DT Chicago is just all blocky like it is on most of their buildings at night. Thats too bad. Some of the buildsing in these city updates have custom night lighting.

This is why I prefer payware city scenes, especially DDs, Samscene, and Dfflyerdirect Cities. The default PG Cities are hideous.

Can DD's Chicago Landmarks be removed with this City update? I get pretty bad performance with it and feel like everything is over saturated with colors. I appreciate DD and the amount of work went into it and all, but if it's better to remove it, I will.

Is it in your community folder or did you get from MP?

I initially removed it it but put it back in. I agree, it's a bit oversaturated, performance-heavy and the textures completely disappear when you are only a couple miles out(bad LOD's?) but I really don't care much for the new city update. I think it's the opposite of DD, it seems overly dark to me and the night lighting is of course disappointing as it is on all PG buildings.

In the previous page of this thread I asked if the Bald Knob Cross was modelled, and no one has said yea or nay, so I may have to check for myself. Down-state gets little attention sometimes...you know how it is. And this is a City Update, maybe no POI's in a rural area (?)

A fair rendition of Bald Knob Cross is included in a KCGI scenery at .to

You can uninstall it from your library. That’s what I did
