Unfortunately, it messes up Meigs..

Is there not a way to have the Meigs overlay the update?

I'll probably disable this latest city update when flying around Chicago. I still love my Meigs field.

No, the city update is fine.. Meigs included.

It is the DD package that needs to be disabled (for now..)

Have you restarted the sim?

Tonight's msfs2024 Quiz:

You install city update 15 and it is not showing up in the sim. Which should you try first?

1) Go back to flying 2020.

2) Start a Zendesk ticket.

3) Reinstall msfs2024.

4) Change your Gamertag to a new identity.

5) Restart the sim?

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

On a related note, as a resident of Elgin, IL, I couldn’t believe that my city was covered when I saw the video. Pretty cool!

...and it looks pretty nice! I find Illinois fascinating (as a Canadian-Brit)... places like Elgin very much northern cities (bordering Wisonsin) but then reaching right down to Kentucky, where rural Illinois definitely looks/feels more like the south. 😎

This update has inspired me to install a whole lot of Chicago and surrounding airports, to enjoy the city update with. I bought 4 on the Marketplace (Aurora, Dupage, Joliet, etc) and also some nice freeware from FS.TO (including your very own Lake in the hills and Schaumburg) 🙂

I assume that Aurora and Joliet are UK2000, but there is also KGYY Chicago Gary if you want to take the risk 😁

I was looking at Gary too 🙂 I've been buying Gary's sceneries for over 20 years but I've found the quality a little hit and miss with some lately. Isle of Man is a little lacking IMHO, but Newquay and Carlisle are fantastic. I'd put Joliet somewhere in the middle (and haven't flown to Aurora yet). This City Update is my favourite to date. The scenery is just stunning flying north, up the east coast of Lake Michigan from greater Chicago up to the rural farmlands and towns of Wisconsin 😎

It does. Cairo is southern. And a good part of southern Illinois is like the Missouri Ozarks in some ways.

I wonder if they modelled the Bald Knob Cross?

EGNS Isle of Man was one of his first MSFS 2020 airports (when he was still developing for P3D at the same time), so he was probably still learning the MSFS SDK (even though I think it is a good rendition). KJOT Joliet was a surprise when he released the Beta over Christmas. I tried to persuade him to model a few of the adjacent buildings (the fire station, Messiah Lutheran Church, and the commercial buildings on the west side), but he decided that specific models of these were not required. It is a nice little place though, tucked into that small space between built up areas. That large pond on the south west side looks nice with its 3D procedural boulders and infamous pebbles!!

EGNC Carlisle is the only relatively large airport in my home county of Cumbria, although it is still 80 miles away from where I live. I agree that it is a nice airport in the simulator, but I was disappointed that he did not render the various static aircraft at the museum. In my opinion, default assets just don't cut it in 2026.

EDIT: There is also a UK2000 version of KCMI University of Illinois Willard, which is the one that Jon B mentioned as being a fond memory from his childhood (since it was one of the original airports in early versions of MSFS). In fact, it was Jon's comments about that airport that persuaded me to suggest it to Gary....and the rest is history 😉
