As someone who owns both, I can tell you that nothing said in this thread is worth downgrading to 2020 for. My issue with the clouds, for instance, is actually way worse in 2020! You don't hear me complaining about the old sim because I don't use it anymore.

You can speak but so much in general experience as a pancaker.

2020 is still better for VR💡

  • I've been at this since the dawn of 2020 and now 2024 and never had to fix anything after an update. What's beyond stunning to me is just how much stuff is addressed in these updates compared to any

  • To be honest, most of the fixes are above my horizon. I didn’t know there was problems or I don’t understand what they mean. I might be only one or at least one of the few with limited understanding

I'm confused.... lol. What sim is this because I'm flying through clouds in the sim currently and this is not the case. Or is this just sarcasm? lol

No no, that was a MSFS 2024 SU6 flight (Real Weather+ActiveSky in Passive Mode).

I've done a dozen or so flights in MSFS 2024 with SU6, and yet to run across any clouds where the wing was obscured. I agree it was always something neat to think about, but I'm still confused. Is this just a fluke or are you recreating this in all clouds? Is this something you're seeing because of your add-ons?

Are you sure you're not using another add-on such as TriTriSim? See my image below from their website. It looks like a feature they offer is a wing fade effect. Which is super cool by the way - but I also want to stop any confusion from folks thinking this was something native that came with SU6, because it definitely is not and this a thread about SU6.

Yeah... It was definitely Tritrisim's GFX. I thought it had been MSFS...

Sorry 👼

All good! I am curious though and not to hijack this thread, but do you see any performance or stuttering issues with this add-on?

Yesterday I noticed some unusual stuttering, but it could be any number of things: the 2020 scenery, ChasePlane, the Fenix A320, GFX, or SU6 itself. But I’d bet it was the 2020 scenery...

Another thing I noticed was better cloud quality.

Ok found it, it's right next to the town of Ghisonaccia. I can easily reproduce it by going through the TLOD levels, it's like they've messed with the LOD levels again, going to 400 and it's fine which suggests they've nerfed lower levels to gain performance as predicted by so many people during the beta.

This is how Ghisonaccia and immediate surroundings look like on my rig. TLOD=200, dynamic settings on. As I guessed, not even close to the fuzzy mess you have, so what could be wrong on your end?

Could've been server issues as proven elsewhere, but I'm heavily leaning towards VR TLODs working differently/bugged as has been suggested before.

There looks to be quite a few Career fixes. Is Career FINALLY truly a decent and non-frustrating experience?

The scoring for some modes, like crop dusting, is so out of whack that I just don't bother with those flights anymore. That said, I would guess 70% of the career mode issues are related to ATC. If you can deal with the default ATC, you can probably deal with career mode.

Career mode has been improved - I'm getting less moving hold short lines, fewer missed ATC/Quick Reply hangups, and it looks like night missions spawn more frequently. I've also seen an improvement in mission generation. EFB and Flight Plan issues still exist and you should double check and update your flight plan before each mission, still getting the Flight Level bug that requires you to manually update it. The planned routes for helicopter missions are correct, but sometimes the ATC doesnt match up (flight plan has you taking off and landing a helipad, but ATC comms indicate you should be landing at a runway - I have gotten an undesignated landing hit due to this). However, the automatic penalty for spawning in a runway at an airport with no taxiways has been fixed, that helps a bunch.

Graphics did improve for me as well. Ground textures are better, more detailed. You can see ATV trails in farmer's fields now, I dont think that was the case before. There seems to be better tree variety and more texture variety in general, which is a huge win for helo and GA flyers

Even with those 2D trees? You must be a magician lol

I have to mention I use Rex accusations.advanced Rex atmos and a few other add-ons.

Think of MSFS as a slow moving object that changes in time.
