Ground Environment X (GEX) works well with the Ultimate Terrain X series. GEX is available from Flight1. Also I second the nomination of FlyTampa sceneries. FlyTampa and FSDreamteam have some top notch stuff out right now and I also like the offerings from Flightbeam as mentioned above. Really good stuff!!!

You might want to investigate the PMDG MD-11 as well. Sorry to throw yet another choice into the mix to make it even harder to decide. I have the MD-11 and love it. I also enjoy the Level-D 767 and Simcheck Airbus A300. Despite it's age the 767 is still just a pleasure to fly. The A300 is well made and a nice change of pace if you want to broaden your horizons from the Boeing FMC's, as is the MD-11. Good Luck choosing. Same problem I'm faced with every time I end up with a little extra FlightSim addon money. What to choose, what to choose?!?!?!?!? A problem I enjoy having.

If you use FS9 format traffic .bgl files in FSX then FSX format traffic will not show. You need to convert the FS9 bgl's to FSX format using one of the freeware programs available. There are plenty here in the Avsim file library. There are a couple of differences between the two formats, one being that the day of the week numbering is different by one day.

I use the default ATC. But, I do use Editvoicepack and have added some community voice pack mods. I realize default ATC has it's issues, but I don't seem to notice any more issues than normal using UT2. I also use FlightSimCommander for flight planning which can import the flight plan into FSX. Using an IFR plan you can get your SIDs and STARs to be "recognized" so to speak. I also use AISmooth.

I really enjoy Flight1's Ultimate Traffic 2. With this package the AI fly actual flight plans instead of just flying straight from departure airport to arrival airport. This causes you to have more interaction with the AI Traffic. Instead of just encountering a plane once in a while, you may find yourself actually flying the same route as some of the AI for a while. This means you have to watch for traffic a little more, which seems more realistic. I also find the interface easy to use. You can add aircraft models and repaints as well as flight plans. They offer updated schedules for purchase. Plus there is a freeware program that you can download to add flightplans from ttools type files as well as other options. That program is called UT2PowerPack. Plenty of AI packages out there, but these are just the reasons I enjoy UT2 so much.

you may have to reverse the brake axis of your pedals if controlled within FSX. I had to do this with my CH pedals until I started calibrating them through FSUIPC because the brakes would be "on" until I pressed the pedal down.

you could increase the rate of time. "r" then "=" to increase and "-" to decrease. if you only do 2x or 4x you still have weather and traffic and all without the sim having to redraw anything.

thanks for the heads up and links guys

I've noticed something similar on land once in a while, and only in one of the outside camera views such as spot plane; top down; etc. My plane will sort of bounce but has never been enough to cause damage or kill the engines. It doesn't seem to be any particular plane or scenery involved that I've noticed.

I really enjoy accu-feel...adds a lot to the immersion...very happy I bought it.

I believe you will need to re-install everything because of a difference in the version of SP2 for FSX that comes with Acceleration. Also doing something that major to FSX I personally would want to do a fresh re-install to make sure everything runs smoothly after. On my system since it's primarily for FSX I would even re-fomat and reinstall Windows. Of course that's just my routine. And you would not need to buy FSX Gold if you already have Deluxe and Acceleration. I have FSX deluxe, but recently bought FSX Gold w/ Acceleration so that I have a back-up copy just in case.

Have you given FSDreamTeam Airports any thought? -
Anyone Else Getting "Service Unavailble" When First Loading ASE?
eldar2112 replied to Kuckoo's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
this has happened to me a couple of times, but the weather still loaded properly and it only seemed to be temporary isolated incidents. happened a couple of months ago for me. just checked and it's loading properly for me. -
Wow! Another amazing set. Thanks for sharing!

that issue has been discussed here in the forums. I believe if you left mouseclick with the cursor in the open area when it goes into the folder you can then click ok and it adds the scenery, but search the forum for a better explanation if that doesn't work

If you wanna buzz around the Caribbean low and slow, FlyTampa has the Grenadines as well that go great with the St. Maarten package. Their Tampa is indeed very nice and FSDT has a nice Ft. Lauderdale Intl. You can build a pretty nice Caribbbean with just a few purchases and a whole lot of freeware scenery from here in the Avsim file library and PW Sceneries available fom http://www.strikingsoftware.com/.

Qesution about FSX & a 64Bit Windows 7 OS
eldar2112 replied to MartyK's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
If you have the oppurtunity to get another hard drive to install FSX to by itself you may want to try that as well. The consensus over the years here has been that this may yield some benefits as far as load times; texture loading; etc. If possible you may want to try turning off User Account Control (UAC) to avoid add-on install nightmares. -
Four top quality addon airliners. Which to buy?

Had dodgy AI before, but this one takes the biscuit
eldar2112 replied to beethamwest's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
in at least some add-on sceneries (older ones I thought), if aircraft ground shadows are turned on and you have AI models that were initially designed for FS9 (such as WoAI) the AI will not show up at the scenery. you might double check that setting and if turned on turn it off and check to see if the AI shows up. -

Take a look at Ultimate Traffic II over at Flight1 as well. The AI Aircraft fly flight plans instead of great circle routes. It seems this gives you more interaction with AI while in flight, both seeing them and listening to ATC transmissions. UT II also seems to give less of a hit to framerates than WOAI at least on my system and from others I've read. I use WOAI to fill in some of the airlines missing from UT II. It works out great! Good luck and have fun!!!
