  1. The new 3D rain and snow just refers to the actual rain and snow effects outside the aircraft, not on the windows. The windshield rain effects are just animated bitmaps on those aircraft that supported them in FSX and P3D, but they also need a surface poly defined in the model to be mapped to which does add a lot of polys on curved surfaces etc.
  2. I have every addon I need working in v3.2 which runs flawlessly on my current hardware. looks great with PTA I don't need anymore addons for now, all my Goflight modules work fine and i have never had an OOM. What i need to see in V4 before I throw money at hardware to utilise V4's advances fully: Evidence that V4 uses the new cpu's with many cores fully. this will influence my next build. The NGX and the Virtual avionics FMC software that I use ported fully to 64bit. Fsuipc V5 to get mouse macros reinstated. may not happen as this depends on LM Ezdok to get a V4 compatible version. Pollypot's Goflight Interface tool for V4 Something with the same functionality as PTA Someone to write a Scenery manager tool as this new scenery management system just looks like a lot of work and no fun. I will probably just read the forums to keep up with developments and maybe have a look at XP11 whilst things settle down to a point where everything I use now is available in V4 compatible versions. Fascinating times though for all of us.
  3. The Realair Turbine Duke and the FlySimware Lear both have great fps and both have rain effects.
  4. Do we know for certain they have completely left this out, or is it simply that no addon has been released with raindrops yet.

If you fly multiple types of aircraft and have dual throttle quads then you really need Fsuipc's profiles functions which will configure your throttles correctly as each aircraft is loaded in the sim. If you have lots of external hardware then Fsuipc's button and switch programming and mouse macro creation is essential, plus conditional button programming this all also works with the profiles. Imagine switching from a simple twin piston aircraft to the NGX and having to configure tons of switches and buttons and your throttle quads using the P3D controls dialog every time, with Fsuipc profiles it's automatic. It does so much more but really you need to read the documentation, it would take me too long to write it all out here but it's one of those programs that if you don't know why you need it, then you probably don't need it.
  6. That is the A2A Accufeel at work, works just the same if you add it to P3D

The freeware version is already on Pete's forum, http://forum.simflight.com/topic/80977-updated-modules/ the payware version should be on Simarket soon
  8. There is a 60 day trial period, just try it and see if your machine can handle it.

I doubt it, we have had almost 10 years of free updates to V4 as it is.
  10. They look great in screenshots but when actually in the sim they have limited draw distance and pop into view
  11. I am a P3Dv3 user, but that video pushed me a little closer to XP11 If only Austin would give some love to Ai and ATC that is.
  12. AS16 has a P3Dv4 version released, and it happens to be on a -30% sale at the moment. Far and away the best weather engine for any sim. https://hifisimtech.com/
  13. They are documents, The files are only small xml files for each addon pointing to the addons real location, its done this way so you do not need to reinstall all your addons when you do a clean reinstall of the Sim. A fresh install of V4 will automatically add your addons on first run, this is a much better system, and no more issues with badly written installers trashing your dll.xml and exe.xml files
  14. Surprised that REX have not developed something similar, seems like it would be a natural choice for them.
  15. They did and it is accessed directly in the sim.
  16. Remove one of those 1080 GTX's those days are gone
  17. No, but for balance you should mention the lack of decent Ai, ATC and the very rudimentary weather system. And before you counter with "use Vatsim for ATC" you should really mention the archaic Xsqawkbox and the available model matching sets that is not even close to where Vpilot is right now. It's those things that keep a lot of us away from XP11, and the fact that Laminar seem to have little interest in improving those areas. what is the point in the IEXG if the airliner environment is so lacking.
  18. You don't need to, if you have FTX central v3 installed it will copy your Orbx stuff across from P3dV3
  19. No, you will just see it spread out even further all around, to get rid of it you need better landclass than the default.
  20. Yes, Peter is working on it now http://forum.simflight.com/topic/83429-fsuipc5-upgrade-cost/
  21. I hope it is exclusively payware from this point on, he deserves it. Fsuipc v3,v4, has always been payware if you need it's advanced functions or even value the contribution Peter Dowson has made to the hobby over the years, lets not forget he has also provided free updates to v4 for the last 10 years.
  22. P3Dv3 already uses multiple cores as did FSX before it.
  23. Yes, lets spend years and millions of dollars building a Simulator of interest to a very small percentage of the potential customers that actually live on this planet. Those 1.3 billion Chinese, 1.3 billion Indians etc will never have any interest in Flight Simulation will they ? so why bother. Let's base it on a tiny area such as Norway or the PNW , that way a very small subset of Europeans and a few Americans will buy it. Even better we will be able to fly off the edge of the map just like we could two decades ago in Flight unlimited, no need for global real world weather either or a global navaid system. That's a much better than what we have in FSX, FSW ,P3D, I can't for the life of me see why someone does not pour millions into such a marketable project. LOL * * Someone did it was called MSFlight, look how well that turned out.
  24. Really ? mine only cost $59.95
