  1. I've been away from simming and have come back to it now that I have some free time. I've migrated to P3D v2.5 and am having problems running FS2Crew configuration manager after installing it because I don't have FSX installed. Can this be made to work? If so, what do I need to do? Thanks John
  2. Not sure if it's been posted before, but here ya go. Some lovely shots of Boeings latest aircraft John
  3. Thanks for sharing - really appreciated!
  4. The autopilot can work without the FD on though can't it? It's only there to give visual guidance to the pilots on what the AP would do to match the specified parameters. Could be wrong here though
  5. Not true. I jumpseated RYR and the Autopilot was engaged at 400ft after departure and only disengaged when the aircraft was 4nm out on the ILS for 28. Practically no hand flying to be honest.
  6. Installed HF4 last night and kept experiencing a CTD even when loading up the default Cessna. When I performed an uninstall, and then reinstall followed by HF4, I was able to complete a flight successfully without any problems. I've been lucky in that I had a pretty reliable and bug free experience, but fair play PMDG for addressing these problems in such a timely fashion!
  7. You could skip most of the phases by configuring FsPassengers to not modify the payload of the aircraft. That way, you can still earn revenue form carrying Pax and cargo
  8. Hi, I've been cruising around with the NGX since release and I love it. I've had no problems at all and as a software developer myself, I can imagine how difficult it was to put this product together - well done! I have service based failures enabled and recently encountered overheating & low pressure warnings for the electric hydraulic pumps. I consulted the QRH and it says the aircraft can operate with only 1 pump. Does this mean engine driven or electric? What are the consequences of both pumps being turned off or inoperative? I can only see a light for Feel Diff Pressure in the flight control annunciators on the overhead when I have one engine started. The light extinguishes after the second engine is started and the aircraft seems to work correctly other than that Now for my problem. I have tried clearing the failures a number of times. I have also serviced the hydraulics system. The CDU menu says the failures are cleared but the lights don't extinguish. I have tried changing aircraft to default and also other versions of the NGX. None of this works. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks very much,John
  9. I was lucky enough to fly Jump seat on a Ryanair flight last year and I noticed the captain engaging VS from Level change when it was about 1000 to go to the specified altitude. I asked him about it and he said it was for comfort and also to avoid TCAS advisories for other aircraft. Good tip ;-)
  10. Where can I get the AOA ini file from?
  11. Experiencing this as well - glad I'm not the only one!
  12. It really is incredible! Well done PMDG, as a software developer myself, I can imagine how much work went into this.

I have to say that I'm getting pretty good performance with the NGX. Maybe my CPU isn't the E6600 because it's definitely quad core. Windows 7 describes it as "Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @2.4ghz". You're absolutely right about Dell as well - will never buy them again because you can't overclock! I've no problems with the VC or blurry textures thankfully. It simply looks amazing! Unlike yourself, I've removed autogen and because I fly online, I've set air traffic to 0.
  14. No worries Michael, it wasn't entirely directed at you. It's just been tiresome reading through the posts by everyone with extremely powerful machines. I had a quick spin in her at lunchtime in my now very medium spec'd machine and was extremely happy with the performance - very smooth! E6600 2.4 GHZ (Quad)4GB Ram8800GTX 768MB Well done PMDG!!
  15. +1 I am absolutely sick of reading people with the latest and greatest systems ranting on about their concerns with frame rates. It's hardly as legitimate a concern as someone with a medium to low end system! I have asked on the other FPS thread on the general forum and of course, no answer. Just people with their 4+ ghz overclocked machines saying how great it is
  16. Wish you'd announced this after I'd finished downloading! Will head home at lunch and get her installed - so excited!

Anyone with specs similar to mine care to comment on performance? Dell XPS 710Intel E6600 Quad core 2.4ghz4GB RAMNvidia 8800GTX 768MBWindows 7 Professional (64bit)

  19. I'd say PMDG have sorted out hosting on a cloud environment as this will resolve any server issues. They can add more servers if required, and bandwidth won't be an issue.
  20. What graphics card would you recommend Ryan? Thanks,John mc
  21. Robin,You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. When that Icelandic volcano erupted, most of European airspace was closed for a few days. It was opened up bit by bit according to where the ash cloud had blown to. If anything, the "idiots" reaction was considered by many to be too severe.John
  22. No animation required for this. You just place an overlay image of shattered glass on the cockpit window. It has been done in the LDS 767 (not sure if FS2Crew added this though).
  23. Why would that suck? No queues for immigration, quick turn-around and nice scenery :-)
  24. As a software engineer myself, I can empathise with your workload right now. Thanks very much for the update, as tempting as it is to buy a different NGX, I'm going to hold out for this one.It might be worthwhile making this post a sticky?John
  25. Fantastic stuff, finally some information! Thanks for the update,John
