  1. Any recommendations for which one to buy? I have Frankfurt and love the detail, also have Oslo which is great. Am kinda wondering which is most recent or better performing, I do fly into Brussels more than the others and also like the idea of Paris/CGD and Schiphol but those three are starting to look just a little dated compared to some of the other releases. What do you like about Munich KornDog? At this stage I think maybe Zurich
  2. Thanks for the review an pics Al, as usual the voice of reason and fairness :) Good to know we're gonna have options for the 787 and hopefully this model comes down a little in price once the other manufacturers release theirs. I was lucky to see one of these in the flesh this week in Auckland (New Zealand), great looking birds, posted some pics on my flickr page following is anyone wants to take a squiz... http://www.flickr.com/photos/deeknow/tags/n787bx/
  3. Marshall, you need to learn to use the search feature, e.g. "pmdg 1900D fsx" will turn up the links you need e.g. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/320506-pmdg-1900/
  4. I wonder if they'll revise the purchase price when the QW model is released, or the PMDG for that matter. There's gotta be a good number of vrtual pilots out there who would go for a lite-787 but not at the current price
  5. Looks fantastic Gerard, if it wasnt for the crazy download caps in New Zealand I'd be grabbing these files :)
  6. Jeeze you guys are a tough crowd, and Ray mate not sure how you can be so dissapointed when we're only talking $9.95 here, really its pretty good for what you get. Theres NO WAY your gonna get anything neat this quality freeware and $10 is pretty close to free if you ask me. The external model really is lovely and the VC is pretty nice, sure there a are a lot of panel elements that arent active, but you can soup it up with the FMC/CDU/PFD package from ISG. Although I dont own the Virtavia C17 it sounds like its the pick of the two, but if like me your not a hard-core millitary flyer and just love the look of the C17 then I would definately reccomend the A51 model at this price. For the ISG stuff see following: http://www.isgsim.com/?page=panel_library⊂=retro_area51_c17
  7. Dont forget Ants YBBN, lovely work and WAY LESS impact on frame-rates compared to the Orbx YBBN (which I own but dont use in preference to Ants), check it out: http://aussiex.org/f...ports-brisbane/ CLS YSSY is getting on a bit now too isnt it?
  8. Yeah its a shame about the repaint kit, wonder if anyone will get around to knocking up that all-in-one layered base file?
  9. Oh dear, another PMDG Dash8 thread .. jeeze .. after all this anticipation I hope they dont pull the project
  10. Great topic :) and interesting that there appears to be a convergance of Kiwis and Beer .. LOL For me I usually have a bourbon and cola, and by usually I mean .. always .. LOL
  11. Thanks for responding to this Ron. It's a REAL shame they have this attitude towards the community, especially towards professional development houses like yours, let alone more amatuer efforts. IMHO it's a total crock of baloney that a poor model would harm their brand or sales, absolute rubbish. Is also a shame that people seem almost afraid to discuss the "Gulftsream issue" in public, as has been mentioned by others I'd pay a healthy premium to get a GIV, but I guess that's not gonna happen. I wonder if there'd be a market for a payware VC quality?
  12. Absolutely awesome, Dave is an excellent modeller, very generous to provide this sort of detail for free huh.
  13. Fabulous vid Doog, love the lighting, some really interesting camera angles there. Pretty narly landing there, good thing those C17s are sturdy :) Just subd your channel, you been pretty busy on youtube lately huh
  14. Hey Rodney, shame about the reaction, can only imagine it was a non-registered-member thing as Luke says. I flew w VSWA for a year or so and thought it was a great operation to be honest, good support from the hub managers, some nice techincal features, and a healthy forum, would reccomend them based on my experience. Hope things havent changed. Good luck with your venture by the way. All you southwest guys must be pretty happy with all the 73X options these days huh
  15. Thanks for the HU re the CLS model Al, have had the old model for awhile, lookn fwd to this FSX patch
  16. sorry lads, I'm not usually one to get in on these speculation threads, but this topic does interest me, so here goes my $0.02 :LMAO: The 787 has to be a given right, and just a matter of timing. I imagine the 77* & 748 projects will keep them busy enuff that an entire new project (other than the DC6) wont see the light of day this year. Seems like despite so few of the 787s are in the air that with PMDGs decent relationship w Boeing and operators (who is their partner operator?) that they'll get peformance data soon enough. I reckon there'll be pressure on them though to let the 77*/748 sell in the market for awhile before they distract buyers w the 787 so if I were a betting man I'd say late next year for the 787 release  The Airbus family just have to be out, lets be honest, I'd bet my house (if I actually owned it) on PMDG NOT releasing an Airbus of any shape inside the next 2-years. So apart from the 787 will there be another filler project like the DC6? Regional jet wise there seems to be way too much competition in the BAE146 area. I suppose a ERJ/CRJ entry is possible, lots of variants to model and sell and I think PMDG would probably secure customer orders away from the FeelThere offerings, and there are plenty of these in American and European skies to appeal to punters. In turbo-prop land either an EMB120, Saab340 or Metroliner (one of those underway elsewhere) would be fantastic as would a Dornier 328 prop or jet but not sure there'd be that much visibility or demand for them customer wise. There is a gap re the L-1011 Tristar but that seems like a big commitment and would kind of scavenge sales of the MD11 wouldnt it? Also cant see much likelyhood of a Russian airliner release (TU134/154/204, An148, Il76/96) which are fabulous machines but would the realistic systems modelling mean virtual western pilots might be put off coz its so unfamiliar? From the videos and interviews lately it seems like the Dash8 would be a canididate (as would a replacement for the Flight1 ATR), they're clearly started virtual construction on it, but the message from Rob didnt seem overly optimistic which is a shame coz the Dash is such a great aircraft. Now I know it'd hardly be a "filler" project, but I bet that between the 77*/748 and 787 releases that they'll announce a 737 classic series. It DEFINATELY fits the "aircraft people see" criteria, hardly a day would go by when a spotter wouldnt see one, and the Wilco Evo although an improvment (IMHO) leaves a lot of detail holes to be filled by someone like PMDG.
  17. Good luck with the launch Craig. Always great fun getting a new VA off the ground. Might be useful to potential pilots to hilight how you will differentiate your VA against the existing (and long standing, I have to say that :) virtual Air New Zealand.... see: http://virtualairnz.com/
  18. Hey Eddie. I've done one repaint with it and yes it was a pain to be honest. The fuselage sections as you now know are split into 4 so you have to line them all up which is pretty tedious. What it really needs is a single fuselage texture that you lay the repaint out on then copy/paste each section to the right indivual file. I'm sure someone could knock one up, but will need all the layers in it.
  19. Yeah I concur, she's a good model, and with that deal at PCAviator its a stealupdate - one thing that might be worth mentioning is there arent that many free repaints available, but there is a fabulous set from McPhat for about 10euro or so
  20. Jeeze this poor thread really is getting off track, might as well put my $0.02 in as an owner of both the old and new.For anyone (other than Fritz and the other Wilco haters who have made up their minds :-) who's considering the Evo... yes the textures are pretty poor, but the modelling is on a par with the old one, and VC in particular is a lot better, as is the 2D panel. Systems detail wise its very similar to the original. Overall I'm happy, especially with the FPS which was pretty bad on the old model. Yes I would reccomend this, although I agree that it does seem a little over-priced.
  21. Ben, cant you find out who posted that avsim article and ask them?I just took a look on the Wilco downlodable products page and nothing there, very strang, but good news that they've made a bunch of fixes huh
  22. Hey Craig, yeah I'd love to see an F27 too, you know about the VirtualCol Fokker 50? Its a good price and a nice filler till PMDG do one :)
  23. Excellent sounding service Jonathan, filling a real void there I think, good luck with the venture.BTW had a quick look around the website, seem to be getting 404's when I click the product listings
