  1. Set dynamic head movements in fsx.cfg to 0. Hope I've understood you correctly.
  2. With my Acer T230 I run full screen, undock 2D panels and drag them onto the Acer. There is a touch screen setup thingy in Win 7 that makes it work. It´s a big screen, but a joy to work the overhead panel on. In windowed mode I can also drag a pdf-file onto it, and read procedures.Bjorn
  3. Depends on the make. I'd google the issue and find inspiration. You can use MSI Afterburner to tweak the 260. Bjorn
  4. http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/ tend to go into much detail about those things, I have consulted that site many times.B
  5. Never buy PSU cheap, if you intend to overclock at least. Read up on reviews on the PSUs that interest you. Bjorn
  6. Then you have time to check out Scythe Mugen 2. Bought it for the exact reason that it's ultra quiet and very efficient, and it's pretty cheap. Great value for bucks if you don't need disco bling lights. Bjorn
  7. Was having same thoughts, and now I got the Warthog stick, it´s downright impossible to wait!Bjorn
  8. Get the best of both 2D and 3D, add an Acer touch screen to the setup, and drag 2D panels onto that and activate buttons, cdu etc. by hand.
  9. Add an Acer T230 touch screen to drag panels onto, work the buttons etc. manually, and enjoy the 3D view in VC ;) I did that, starting up a 757 is much easier now. And you get a cheap clickable CDU that way!Bjorn
  10. When on final try and keep your right hand on your engine controls all the way in. You´ll learn to use your left hand soon enough. Otherwise concider TrackIR, does wonders to the whole sim experience.Bjorn
  11. You´re welcome, mate ;)And remember, the lower the CAS latency (a.k.a. CL or timing) the faster the ram. For example my ram are timed 6-8-6-24 @ 1600 MHz, the first number is the CAS latency, and 6 is pretty fast. If you try to compare two sets of ram with different frequency as well as different timings, you take the CL and divide by freq., the lower the number; the faster the ram. So, for 1600 MHz ram, it doesn´t get much faster than the Mushkin Redlines (something new and faster may be out there now, haven´t checked in a while). You should also get a separate harddisk for FSX, an SSD preferably, Crucial Real C300 128 GB is not that expensive and should hold a lot of FSX and a big hangar, and they make ´em really small, you can just about tuck it anywhere in your case. If you spin the whole system including OS on one disc, you may not get as good performance. The motherboards for the SandyBridge type cpu have a design flaw and are withdrawn from the market, so unless you´re in a hurry I´d wait for their revised boards to appear. The SB type cpu seem to run fast easily.Bjorn
  12. Delete fsx.cfg, start fsx and let it rebuild the cfg. Then add your tweaks one by one, and see if one of them needs to be left out or changed. Bjorn
  13. I'm not knowledgeable about multi pc setups. But your plan sounds ambitious and very interesting. I would just give you a hint. An Acer T230 touch screen will allow you to directly activate buttons on panels and CDU etc. Good luck with your build!Bjorn
  14. Make sure Ram and board are compatible. Mobo manufacturers lists of compatible Ram tend to be short. If you search out the top three Ram you want with regards to frequency and timings, you search the respective Ram manufacturers lists of compatible boards. Mushkin has a forum where users share their experience with compatibility. Good luck with your build!Bjorn
  15. I think they're all good producers of GPUs. I tend to not buy Asus 'cause I've found them more expensive than others. But more important than to proclaim one brand the best, I read all the reviews on whatever gpu I'm interested in, and choose from that. Never heard of Gainward until I stumbled across a good review, and haven't regretted. Bjorn
  16. Hi I Can only say that I've seen posts warning people off USB connected screens. I have a suggestion, though. An Acer T230 touch screen. It would fit the other DVI output on your gpu. Got one myself, and it's substantial size lets you drag multiple windows over. The overhead panel in a proper size makes start up of a big bird very easy. And if you run windowed mode during start up, you can have yout pdf checklist open next to it. Bjorn
  17. You should decide on a cpu first, then choosing mobo gets somewhat easier. I can't comment on any Sandy Bridge compatible boards since they are new (and flawed, and suspended from the market). So, are you hooked on that new cpu you should wait a bit for the boards to come out again. I run four monitors off a Gigabyte UD-5 rev. 2, using i7 950 cpu overclocked and gtx460 2gb overclocked.Bjorn
  18. Low gpu usage comes from the system not feeding it, so the bottle neck is somewhere else, cpu? ram?Bjorn
  19. GTX 460 will run TH2Go @ 5040x1050, I got a 2gb edition and overclocked it a bit.Bjorn
  20. You can use MSI Afterburner, good for all nvidia cards, any brand. But heating up doesn't come from nothing. Dust may collect in fans and heat sinks. You should remove card and inspect it. Bjorn
  21. Did you change fsx.cfg? WideWiewAspect=True.Next change resolution in fsx setup to match your desktop res. Bjorn
  22. Was a bit quick on the draw regarding resizing the OH, it resized alright, but only the frame, the picture didn´t resize. So, got some buttons cut off from the panel. Found a work-around, though. Start cockpit in windowed mode, open 2D windows and drag them to touch screen. Then go wide. :)Bjorn
