Geof,Performance will only be what FSX is allowing at the time. We just add visuals too that.I really do appreciate your comments. I am commercial, multi, Inst as well and it is refreshing to have someone with similar ratings know and respect what we have set out to accomplish.(and recognize it) Regards,Jim
Well the visuals are stunning and for those that haven't experienced it-thats it! You are flying your merry way and all of a sudden the windshield goes in a matter of seconds and the wings look like that and you start looking for an immediate out while cranking your equipment. Simply stunning and I know there is lots more to discover-on my way now!

You have to remember Geof, this old boy lives in Indiana and I know you live in Michigan. We both know what icing looks like and what you better do....Best,Jim

Jim-For some reason I had it in my head you were in Texas...Ditto on icing-and it sure has not been pretty so far this winter. Tonight is a great night for anywhere between Chicago and Detroit to see the Mustang and icing conditions-go for it!

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

The Flight 1 development team has done a great job on this project and a tip our our hats to their accomplishments :( That said, we think users will like what we've done with regard to an in depth Citation X 2.0 w/full FMS to compliment their Corporate Jet collections.Just as in the real world there are different types to suite certain purposes so it should not be a surprise in the simulator as well :(
Hello RonBut will it have any glass in the windows? :-)only kidding, but it would be a nice option.

It'll have everything you need Mad Dog. We won't have time to do the cool icing effect that the F1 guys have done but she'll still be fine :( Anyway, this is a Mustang thread so we'll just step aside and let ya'll enjoy :(

Wow! Wow!

So when flying with 3 other passengers I guess there's no room to be discrete when taking a dump. "Hey guys, can you turn heads while I sit on the John?" Can you imagine the smell in such a cramped cabin? Ok, I'll stop. :(
Think back to Dec 1965 when the crew of Gemini 7 spent 14 days orbiting in a space less than 1/3 the size of the Mustang's cabin. They nicknamed the capsule "the flying toilet."Bob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

Spaceman,I would advice you again to read the manual and follow the procedures exactly.First put your new destination altitude in the PFD, then you put throttles in climb mode, hit FLC button, at that point the FLC airspeed bug will lock into your current airspeed. Next, adjust the FLC speed bug using the VS wheel to adjust your desired climb profile. For a steeper climb at a lower speed decrease the FLC speed bug. For a shallower climb but a faster speed you can increase the speed bug. And by all means, make sure you are loading over the default flight. If you have anymore questions, please visit our support forum.I hope that helps.Jim
Ok. Well I hate to say this, but I've now read the manual and followed your (and the manual's) instructions and the airplane still doesn't climb properly in flight level change. I saw oscillations of -500fpm to +1500fpm where it really never gained more than a few hundred feet in the process. So this is looking a bit like an autopilot coding issue.I've also found the following issues during my evening test flight:1. The wind direction and speed box showed the winds bouncing between 40 and 46 kts and 28 and 40 kts fairly rapidly. I'm fairly certain the winds were steady.2. The autopilot busted an altitude during descent by about 200-300 feet.3. After getting established on the ILS with both LOC and GS green and locked in, the autopilot deviated 2 dots off the glideslope high.4. For about the last 2-3 miles of the approach the GPWS system kept warning "Don't Sink" even though I was dead on the GS and descending at a gentle 500fpm.5. The GPWS altitude call-outs only announced "500" and nothing else. I couldn't find any information on what should be announced, so I'm not sure if that is indeed the only altitude call-out heard in the Mustang or they are missing.6. The speed brake is entirely too effective. It's like hitting a brick wall. You can go from 240kts to 140kts in about 3 or 4 seconds. From pilot reports that I've read, the speed brakes aren't that effective.7. In the Garmin 1000, the Select Departure page appears inoperative. I found that surprising given the attention to detail in the rest of the product. I'm sure many of these things are probably already being looked at, but just wanted to share what I've found so far. Other than the above mentioned items, I really like the airplane and hope that once the teething period is over this little Mustang turns into one of my favorite planes.
Been flying it around a bit and it will definitely be one of my top two favorites, if not numero uno.I took about a 10 fps hit. However this aircraft flies smooth as glass. Some of the less important text is a little hard to read, but the bubble help prevents the eyestrain. The glass displays in the VC are just incredable and the lighting is very nice.Anyway check it out. :( No I don't work for F1.
Stunning aircraft and a must for the hangar great stuff :(

This thing looks just great. I've been waiting all time for a reasonable (system depth, etc.) simplane that can be realistically flown as a single pilot. Before I buy there's just one question that remains and couldn't be answered elsewhere. Will there be updates for the navigation data? Is it a worldwide db?thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,We are looking at a more robust way to expand our database to meet the needs of all people. That might have been a bit of an oversight on my part by not making it as robust for non-US. But trust me, we will be and are diving into this even as we speak.Jim

Well Steve, I gave that a shot, but was shocked that as a paying customer I was treated so poorly on your forums. The simple fact is that this aircraft as released is broken and has several issues that have been reported by many customers. However, rather than address the issue, Flight1's policy seems to be to attack the persons reporting said issues and accuse them of improper operation. That seems a very poor business practice. For anyone who's interested here are some outstanding issues I still have with the airplane:1. ILS Glideslope deviations by the autopilot - Flight1's response is that the autopilot can't be trusted above certain speeds. They claimed that starting my approach at 140kts was the cause, however they never did say at above what speed the autopilot failed to function correctly.2. Lack of any SID or STAR capabilities in the Garmin 1000. - They would not respond to my request for what the status is on this. There seemingly was some sort of data screw up in the nav data, but I never got an answer on whether they just didn't model SID's and STAR's in the Garmin or if the data was missing.3. Overly effective speed brakes/excessive drag in the flight model - This discussion ended in a locked thread with one of the devs basically throwing a tantrum. To his credit the developer of the FM tried to provide an answer, but was never allowed to provide hard numbers for testing. Again, they don't take ANY criticism well, no matter how constructive it may be.These are the only issues I followed up with on the forum (which was a rather unpleasant experience due to the manner in which I was treated). There are still 3 or 4 other problems with the aircraft and that's only after a few test flights. Anyone considering purchasing this aircraft be warned, I wouldn't expect much help from Flight1. They treat you like an idiot for raising legitimate issues. The bottom line is that this airplane is turning out to be all looks and no substance. A real disappointment.

140kts is an airspeed good for heavies, but for a VLJ you're screaming in way too fast. Autopilots aren't designed to operate outside of a given flight envelope, which is why there are documents telling the pilot what the appropriate Vapp and Vref are. A typical Vapp for the Citation X, which is a heavier jet is 112-136kts.
2. Lack of any SID or STAR capabilities in the Garmin 1000. - They would not respond to my request for what the status is on this. So, because they didn't give you the answer you want... the aircraft is broken? You're kidding, right? Getting the database for nav data is expensive and time consuming... both. Why don't you ask Jeppesen how much they'd want to charge you for a current nav database in electronic form. It's waaay above the price tag on this addon.

Please provide documentation to back up your claims that the flight model is incorrect. Otherwise, you're basing it all off of percieved expectations, which isn't very accurate.

I don't work for Flight1. I don't own the Mustang. However, based on what you've stated... I would have to side with Flight1 on this one.
