Nope, it's the paint jobs, I've no problem with the company at all. I simply don't like the focus on glossy finishes and slightly too much dirt. If other people like them, and I know many do, then fair enough, but just because a lot of people like them, it does not mean I have to, and that doesn't mean I think they are a bad company or whatever either, it's simply my personal preference. So don't read anything into it that which isn't there.Al
I'm in you're boat. The actual texture work is very good, but isn't to my styling. My main beef though is that they tend to make a "stressed metal" appearance. This appearance would look at home to me on a WWII fighter or a 1950's commercial bird, but doesn't seem to fit on a modern airliner.

Funnily enough, this does bring up one of the things I've always really wished was possible in FSX, that being, the fact that skins on aircraft look rough when they are on the ground and unpressurised, but tighten up when the aircraft gets up to cruise and the pressurisation inflates the skin a bit.If any developer could pull that one off, I'd be seriously impressed. I guess it would require two different texture sets and some means to fade one through to the other, and I don't think that could be done, but I'm willing to be proved wrong.Al

I can understand the look of a highly used cockpit instruments, panels and switches (even though we will buy a used aircraft for the price of a new one :( ), but I can't stand a dirty cockpit :( .

Oh, you're paying roughly over 170mil for this aircraft? ^^ (price for new -600, -700, -800)

I'm going to emulate Micheal O'Leary and get a massive discount, so I'll be paying just 25 million LOLAl

Vin, can you pleaaaaaaaase stop posting photos from the real cockpit, and start taking shots from the VC :(

I'd also prefer a bit more tidy cockpit. I don't mind if it's heavily worn and used but still it could be clean. We'll see.

I just removed something like 10 posts - do not bring up the FS9 vs. FSX junk again please.I think it should be pretty clear from these screenshots Vin's been posting that this kind of modelling isn't even possible in FS9.

I think this perceived 'dirt' problem is overblown for the simple reason that this is an overblown (close-up) picture. You look at it later in the final product at normal distance and it may look quite normal albeit not as a factory-new product.

Guys any plans for this system to be available at certain stage on our NGX?Sure looks like a very useful tool>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) efb.jpgEFB is becoming the latest "must-have" device in the cockpit. They have the ability to do the following tasks:

  • Calculate take-off or landing performance.
  • Calculate weight & balance.
  • Contain the aircraft technical log.
  • Store navigation charts & plates.
  • Store company manuals, FCOMs, crew notices, etc.
  • Retrieve & display weather.
  • Display checklists.
  • Display on-board video surveillance cameras.

The advantages to crew are the accuracy of the data and ease of use. The advantages to the airlines are the cost benefits of a less paper cockpit and real time data transfer. There are three classes of EFB:

  • Class 1: Fully portable. Eg a laptop.
  • Class 2: Portable but connected to the aircraft during normal operations. Eg tablet & docking station.
  • Class 3: Installed (non-removable) equipment.

And the 'Class 2 plus' on the A350 - integrated and fixed display, but laptops for the skipper and FO which interface via a docking station.

I can't believe that people still use FS9... It would a complete waste of time and money to produce NGX for FS9.

Enough, please no more FS9 is dead or FS9 forever. Let this be about the NGX.Eric Szczesniak
