The problem is many of these FS9 users can't accept that eventually their sim will have to take a back seat to FSX. :( :( Add on makers are starting to 'wake up and smell the coffee' so to speak and sooner or later the FS9 users will do the same. :( B) Bryan.
Oh no not the back seat!!! I don't wanna be in the back seat!! waaaaaahhhhh! Mummy don't let them put me in the back seat! B)

HelloWith all due respect, we are three years into the life of FSX and the split is still 50/50Clearly there are some problems for FSX, abandoned by MS and unable to convert half of the userbase to transition froma seven year old platform. If I were a developer I would not bet my farm on FSX, I would try to generate as many revenue streams as possible. No matter how much hard work it turned out to be.Lets be clear with this, both Sims are dead-end products left behind by technologyIf there is ever a FS-next it will probably have no backwards compatability with these two aging platformsSo any work done now for FSX will have zero commercial value going forward.Lets just enjoy what we have now, both sims are flawed but they are the best we have for now.

Hmmmm. I am just trying to pick which proverb best suits the situation? Is it?A man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still. :( or is it?There are none so blind as those who will not see. :( Perhaps Both.

Jimburke - Fix your attitude and language please, I'm not sure of your age (by the looks of it, young), but no one in here is your chief or sport. Hope your next 5 posts are better then your first.Regarding screenshots - Any idiot can obviously see that FSX is far superior up close with the proper add-ons(lets hope so as FSX is FAR more recent...shouldn't it look better?)...no one will agrue with that. But get a couple of thousand feet up, and the difference is less (Yes, FSX still will look better in MANY situations with add-ons), but the point is I value my 60fps and smoothness in all situations a lot when compared to the 1/4(or so..ie..see Fengz shots again) of the overall graphics I'm missing out on.Again, not sure why people have to resort to belittling others because of our choice, be it fs9 or fsx, but hopefully their ignorance and immaturity is a consequence of their age.Lets make this a bit friendlier or end this thread.

With all due respect, have you seen and studied their market research data? Didn't think so. So how can you, or anyone else who has not done so state or even express an opinion that it is flawed? You can't. I wish people would stop saying such things.Well, ok, you can say what you want but it's pretty pointless and and has zero value as an argument.
I have not, but PMDG has stated several times in several posts that they are using sales data from the MD-11. I can think of quite a few reasons why that would be flawed data, but I'm no going to waste bandwidth trying to make a point...because you are right; it is completely pointless.

Hello StephenI have FSX with all the major addons, I have "seen" and then I returned happily to FS9There was a lot that I liked about FSX but in the end "something" was not quite right about it for me.FS9 just does it for me, maybe its the colours or the ambiance, it just feels right and I enjoy the experience more.I dont rule out FSX in my future and watch developments with interest, but all my sim spending is still going into FS9.Eaglesoft CX 2.0 last week , both new Eiresim sceneries when I get off night shift in the morning.Lets enjoy what we have.

I would never go to FSX. I would rather go to X-plane.

+1 for Red 1 and Mad Dog... Some of the attitudes here are just pathetic. I would love to see these people stand face to face with another human being and communicate like that. You would get either:A. Spit onB. Punched in the FaceC. Laughed at and walked away from...

Hello Brian:I pretty much agree with what you said with the exception of the following statement:"I can't find one who having tried FSX on decent hardware has wanted to go back to FS9."You found one.I will attach my system specs. and I think you will agree that I at least have "decent hardware", and I get flawless results in both FS9 and FSX.It surprises me a bit that if there is a post thus far (have not finished reading the complete thread), suggesting enjoying both FS9 and FSX yet, I am afraid I have overlooked it. Seems to be an either or mentality all the way in this thread which IMHO is a loss either way.I very much enjoy FSX with flawless performance, and still regress to FS9 many times thanks to some of the third party airports and aircraft that I love there and are not available for FSX (i.e. Dreamfleet's 727 and Baron, the Dassault Falcon 50 Panel, GV Panel etc.).However, to loose FSX, I would hate to be without the Dreamfleet Dakota and Eaglesoft Twin Comanche among others.I am personally somewhat at a loss as to why anyone is so negative relative to one of these versions, and so carried away by the other. I am very grateful for both. From the develper's standpoint, I very much appreciate the contributions that have been made for both versions. By retaining each, I feel that we have the best of both worlds.Respectully:RTHPrimary Computer:ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel ATX MotherboardIntel Core i7-975 Extreme Quad Core CPUScythe SY124010L CPU Fam6GB (3x2GB) 240 Pin DDR3 1600 OCZ3P1600LV6GK MemoryWinXP Pro 64 BitEVGA 01G-P3-1180-AR GeForce GTX 285 1GB 512 bigt DDR3 Video Graphics Card21

Gee,This is sounding more like mental illness than friendly banter.

Call it a mental illness if you like. I would also not call some of the posts friendly banter, I would consider them rude and demeaning and written from a pedestal (I am on a soap box, very different ;) ) I am not condoning the behavior. For myself personally, I would opt for option C and laugh and walk away if someone started calling me son and talking down to me like a 3 year old like in these forums, humor can almost always diffuse anger but I assure you some of the folks I know here in NY would not opt for option C and if they were spoken to in the manner some people post on these forums they would not hesitate to respond rightly or wrongly with some of the responses above...And I do not deny in any way I might be a few cards short of a full deck sometimes, it is part of my charisma ;) LOL I never claim to be "normal" ;)But alas, this should not be about me so I will politely bow out and watch from the sidelines.Cheers,-Paul

Red, don't bother. This individual has no idea to whom he rants or raves. I did have to laugh when he came to this elementary conclusion however:>> Why not just man up and say that for you FSX won't cut the mustard but for those of you that are able to run it with no problems, hats off to you. Is it jealousy that you don't own the hardware or skill to set it up?<<Little does he know we constructed a motion simulator costing 18-20 times what his florescent power box cost powered by 9 individually networked computers. And the work I do daily is done on the very things he simulates. So, yes, perhaps I am a little sporty. :)Am I frustrated with FSX. You bet. Do I constantly come on here and bellyache and moan about FSX? No. Quite frankly this is the first thread I recall having done so.I like many are in hopes that a better platform will be developed in the future. There is so much further this hobby can go especially as it relates to realism. Take a look at some of these other games that are developed and the graphics are just mind boggling. I never was a fan of DirectX but understand why Microsoft was compelled to design MSFS's engine around it. There are far better options out there as most of us know.Lets all agree that MSFS has given us (2) pretty decent platforms (FSX & FS9) that makes most of us happy in different ways. I'm ready to concede this......All the best,Mitch
