What's the most complex aircraft you have for FS9?

Featured Replies

I also have the Project Tupolev IL-62 installed...just been reading up on it so can't comment on it's compelxity yet but it looks pretty well modelled. There are a number of absolute gems on the Samdim site also including the An-24 (with excellent VC), TU-144 and Yak-42.I've heard the supersonic Tu-114 is also excellent - there are two different versions of this available, one is slightly more complex than the other I believe - I don't have the links at hand. Two payware models which aren't talked about very often are the SSW A310 and the SD Yak-40 - have a look if you haven't already - one of the best panels in FS2004 imo.
Yup, the PT Ilyushin IL-62M is pretty good as well. Its a little simpler than the PT Tu-154s because there hasn't been a lot of focus on the engineer systems. But its air dynamics and avionics are very well modeled as well as the 3D model itself. I have been hoping they may update it with detailed engineer panels and a VC at some point. Same with the SCS Tupolev Tu-134, it would be great to have a VC model of that one with even more detailed engineer panel(s). But even as they are, both of these are really good and great to fly in FS9. Additionally it would be really nice to see the same VC and engineer panel improvements for the David Maltby Vickers VC-10 (another classic freeware add-on for FS9) and the Samdim Yakovlev Yak-42.Samdim have also been making an updated version of their fine Antonov An-24, but this has been going on for a while - I hope they finish it soon. Also it is easy to get the numbers confused, but the Tu-144 is the supersonic Russian by Thomas Ruth and co, the Tu-114 is the turboprop wonder by Samdim - not the other way around. Both very good add-ons for FS9.

I have my picks, but I wanted to hear from the community first. What's the most complex aircraft you have for FS9?
Wow. Excellent responses! My picks for the most complex AC I use (in order from hardest to easiest)1. The Maddog 2008The Maddog 2008 is the absolute most complex AC I have in my hangar. From very rigid start up procedures and simulated failures to almost 0 online tutorials, the MD82 is one of those planes that you might fly 10 times and only have 2 successful landings. I recorded an autoland video for www.fs9blog.com the other day which was the result after 6 failed previous attempts. I do almost 90% travel with my day job and ride on S80s almost all the time (home field is KDFW), so I really wanted to learn this bird accurately.2. The PMDG MD-11This complex addon takes second place in my hangar for being extensive in it's accuracy. Although more forgiving than the MD82 when you mess something up, the community and online tutorials make this an easier bird to fly. This is also one of the most destructive planes you can pirate (as others have found out the hard way)3. CS Legendary C-130 Number 3 in the line up is the Legendary C-130 by Captain Sim. This plane took me over an hour to get through the start-up the first time around. Fortunately there are extremely good walk-throughs online that make the process easier.4. The PMDG 747-400Finally, what I consider to be the last complex AC is the PMDG 747-400. Accurately modeled and really fun to fly once you get the hang of it, the PMDG 747-400 has one of the best autoland systems around.

HelloI haven't tried any payware aircraft yet.But the most complex aircraft to date would be the BAE 146 with the project BAE panel(i think that project is finished now,but i would imagine the panel and plane are still available)this took some serious working out,and I did manage it eventually, but the problem I had was having sorted it out,i went back to my usual dumkopf POSKIES.IFDGs.PAs etc with easy simple panels and promptly forgot how to use the BAE.Eventually i decided to go reinstall my simple BAE panel by Targon Unamutz and I must admit that when i am tired and want a nice relaxing flight i prefer this type.My particular fetish is getting visual Hand flow landings(jet liners) correct and I am getting much better(after years trying I have to admit)so i am quite happy giving the complex aircraft a miss until i get hand flown landings sorted. The most complex i use regularly now(this is where all you PMDGs users probably laugh loudly and mockingly)Are Alain Capts MD11 PanelGrabowski's Embraer 135-145 etc PanelAnd the rather nice PSPanels (for 737NGs)That does me for the moment.PS I do have a hankering to get the hang of the FMC though and currently have a VASFMC equipped A 320 waiting for me to try and suss out.Anyways some thoughtscheers Andy :(

SD Yak 40 is probably the most complicated one I have for FS9. I've got all the standard favourites like the PMDG 747, Aerowork B200 etc, but that Yak 40 is in a league of its own.Al

Maddog 2008 Pro.No other aircraft gets close (and I have wasted money and time on plenty :( )Couple this with FS2Crew, and you are in heaven (once you have put in the hours).

When you ask about "complex"- are you referring to impact on frame rate or the aircraft systems themselves? In my hangar, RFP 742 qualifies on both counts.Alex Reid

Leonardo Maddog 2008 MD-82!as well as- Digital Aviation Fokker 70/100- Project Tupolev Tu-154M- Level-D 767-300ER- RFP 747-200 is also great but the addon got a bit old for meThey also happen to be my favourites of all times!Although I admit I haven't flown the Tu-154M for some time. And temporarily I don't feel like, you know... :(

I would have to say-PMDG 747-level D 767-aeroworx B200All these above I find them quite system extensive but have mastered themThe one aircraft that I cant seem to come to grips with for some reason is the coolsky super 80. ive tried on many occasions but just cant seem to "get it"I've even used the built in turoriuls but I have found to be quite shall we say "all over the map" in the way it was designed.

Complex to me is an aircraft you CANNOT start or operate without a checklist or manual present. The question was not the best or most enjoyable aircraft but MOST complex.Show me a FS pilot who can start the (1)Project Tupolev 154 without the manual and by memory.Show me a FS pilot who can accurately go through ALL the start up procedures for the (2) Maddgo 2008 Pro. I have tried and could not. Level D 767 is not that hard and PMDG MD11 will tell you what you have missed on the alert screen.Carl Perry 7+year sim pilot

Thats the beauty of modern jets! Hell, all the new biz jets have about 4 items on the start up check lists including 'turn engine start knob to on'...

That's not supposed to mean, that he is not complex. In RL, it will also alert you when you miss something. Complex mean that everything is simulated, including those alert messages, not that one is harder to start than the other.Cheers! :(

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

Show me a FS pilot who can start the (1)Project Tupolev 154 without the manual and by memory.
I can, but I've been flying the PT Tu-154B2 and Tu-154M in FS for a very long time now. Also I'm familiar with the aircraft from before as I wanted to fly these for BALKAN Bulgarian Airlines when I was little.

Under the circumstances that's understandable. My condolences for Poland's tragic loss.
