So what happened to "Simulator"...?:(
Now they wont have to build in backward compatibility, which is what has held the sim back for the last 10 years.

Cheers, Andy.

You never know, it's getting harder to tell these days. Judging from the water animations it could be in-game video.
Right, but I don't think the background sky is. Big%20Grin.gif (although I'd certainly like it)

Yeah, that sky looked pretty sweet :-)Assuming that it is going to work along the same lines of all the other FS versions as to being able to add planes and sceneries from 3rd party developers, I wonder if it will be like all the past versions of FS and be written to work well with the computer of tomorrow or will it finally be able to work well with what we have today?

It will be marketed and sold the same as any other PC game, i.e. it will be scalable to the hardware available at the time and in the future, just the same as every other PC game out there.

Cheers, Andy.

I hope I'm not out of line posting a screenie, but checkout the shadows:

Well this got me by surprise! I really hope we get some more info in the following months I really have to wonder is it built with the old engine and rebuilt modified? I really hope the engine uses as many cores as you can throw at it to increase performance. And I can imagine that it would use allot of shader's in this version something the fps genre has been using alot. well at least I can hope lol. well I'm really happy about a new simulator coming from ms. I'm just so used to looking forward towards the next version of one of the longest running games.

They finally got it 'As real as it is' :( so they dropped Simulator.

I'm guessing that video is not in-game (it would be great if it was)... I hope the MS devs are open for dialogue here on Avsim... it'll be very interesting to know what new direction they're taking with this.
Indeed. That's a good opportunity to thank Phil Taylor for his fair and open-minded past dialogue with us.

I like the new name; Microsoft Flight ... I feel the new name gives the franchise a new and fresh feel, which is probably the reason why they changed it.Flight Simulator 11 does sound pretty boring.

Until we know more; long live FSX.
Or FS9 for that matter, sorry, couldn't resist.
When they start adding vixens usually signals silly marketing tactics geared towards attracting teenage gamers...
In the not too distant future third party devs will release soundpacks that aren't just for aircraft, if you now what I mean.:wink:Anyway, interesting, but... meh...Edit: by the way, if this is really happening, act fast and create a new subforum, we're gonna need it. I hope.

Mike...

I'm excited guys. Finally, a new version announced. YEAH!
