Eh? Nah... Wellington is a piece of cake! Try Queenstown or Milford Sound for a challenge.
Agree....I flew into Qtown a couple years ago and couldn't believe the approach through the mountains on both sides and the steep bank near the threshold to get to the rwy. Do they use RNAV or RNP to get in there?Regards, jen noulet

Its funny, I just looked up my HS to see if there were any notable graduates of CDO and found out that the NFL ref Ed Hochuli and Texas Rangers Ian Kinsler both graduated from CDO as well. I never knew that.
Ed Hochuli is related to my band's drummer somehow, he always talks about it when he's the ref in a game we're watching haha. You know he's a fully trained/accredited lawyer in addition to being an NFL ref? Pretty crazy.

They have RNP approaches into queenstown. Cant wait to fly in there in the NGx

But the RNP approaches are still not modelled in Navigraph as yet. Hope they will be.

They have RNP 0.3 approaches, but these are restricted to a limited number of operators. The approach itself is propriety so it is unlikely that we will get access to the details any time soon (the charts are there, but the coordinates of the fixes are not available).Other airlines use NPAs to get into the Queenstown basin, before circling-to-land; this is not your everyday circle-to-land either. With hills and peaks everywhere, there are predefined paths that pilots must be trained to follow to get to the runway, ALL visually and without FMC guidance. What's even more interesting, is that due to the terrain, square circuits cannot be flown at Queenstown. Even Cessna pilots must fly figure eight circuits as the terrain is just that close by. Have a look at this example of one of the approaches: http://avigation.net/events/crosstheditch/autumn2010/videos (Note: This website if for a past VATSIM event - don't make a booking here! :) )

And Navigraph dont cover New Zealand very well ( I wish they did )

I 'flew' the Queenstown approach in a full size 737ng sim (The one in my Avatar!) whilst in NZ a couple of years ago! Pretty tricky, but managed to land OK!

I know this is a very touchy topic on these forums but does anyone know if the 737 will be released relatively soon. I say that only because I was thinking about getting a payware plane to use if the 737 is going to be a month or so. Im not trying to squeeza date or a range but is there at least three months lee way so I don't buy it then the next day the 737 comes out.
Not a touchy subject really. Simple, no release dates period.... Full first and last name as per forum rules.
