Kinda confirms a few fears i had,, I do go for a complex addon, but not so much that most of the hidden features, we wouldnt use, until we reallly really searched for them.. Also with a possibility of 2 products, proves a very expensive prospect, but we can only wait, i guess :/.Thank you for the update, and also being quick to respond to people's question!! :),, i hope the fps are still the best out there, compared to previous versions.

You know Benjamin, not that this is pointed at you, but it seems a lot of people who remain on FS2004 to fly airliners do so for that fact that they get great performance, which is understandable if you have an older rig that just wont cut FSX at medium to high settings. However, in the same sentance, 99% of the time the same guys always throw in the term "I can run FS9 with 100% AI which is very important". Which in the end seems that for a lot of people who like to fly airliners in FS2004 do so mainly cause they like a boat load of AI.That being said, if you have an older rig and turn down the scenery complexity sliders in FSX, it will perform much like FS9, not to mention lowering your AI settings or using a product like UT2 which doesn't rely on bgl based traffic and is general more FPS friendly due to the way it injects traffic vs. having non flying a/c sitting around the airport. The point being, would you rather fly in FSX with an airliner like the HGX because you want to simulate flying what is probably the most accurate airliners ever made, or would you be happier in FS9 with a 737 that is less complex but you can have loads of AI and every slider cranked to the max. Frankly, sometimes I feel that FS9 airline flyers are more concerned with looking at and spotting traffic, than they are with actually flying. Not that there is anything wrong with that and I understand that having a good amount of AI around the airport and gates makes it seem more immersive of an experience, but none the less it just comes down to what is more important to you.I'll say this as well, if you look at the rig in my sig, which is pretty old by today standards, and the a/c that I use, which is mainly the PMDG 747 and LDS 767 for 95% of my flying, I can still manage to get into hubs like FSDT's large airports with 100% UT2 traffic, and scenery complexity set either a notch or two from the top depending on where I am flying into and still manage FPS greater than 25 most of the time. If your rig is at least as good as mine or better and you have it adn FSX set up properly you should have no problem. You could always get the NGX and if your still not satisfied with you performance, then the most you'll be out is the price of the NGX and that most certainly wont bankrupt you since it probably wont be more than $80, or at least you'll have it if you ever plan on upgrading your rig.Sean Campbell
AI is not the reason I use FS2004. These are my reasons::1) FPS in crowded areas, such as EHAM or KJFK are better for me in FS2004.2) There are still aircraft and sceneries in FS2004 that I use that do not work in FSX.Ultimately, FS2004 works just fine for me and the aircraft I fly there are great also (Leonardo Maddog). I have my reasons to continue using FS2004 even though it's about 8 years old now. I do not wish to turn this NGX thread into a FS2004/FSX type of thread, so i will further say on the subject is this: If the NGX, despite it's detail, performs well, I will seriously consider buying it. My experiences with airliners and heavy airports in FSX just haven't been as good as they have been in FS2004, so before I buy a FSX airliner, I need to know that my computer can handle it.

I have a question, and Ryan I think you answered it a while back, but there are already so many pages! First off, such Beautiful work from all of you at PMDG! My question deals with this image below. I noticed on the side of the engine Nacelle, that there are reflections of clouds, however, from the actual jet you would most likely not see anything, or at least a reflection of the aircraft itself. Can this be implemented or is it an FSX issue? I tried finding a good picture online to show what I mean, and even found a video taken on a AA738 at MIA, clear day... from the video I really can't see any reflection of anything on the inside of the starboard nacelle.NGX_External_Preview_021.jpg

Oh hello, and I love the 3D modelled shaft driving the flaps. Hope it'll be animated during extension... haha j/k LOL.gif
Well, as this was my question earlier and I said I was kidding but then again who would have dared to expect...:
To extend and retract the flaps on this airplane, we thought it would be interesting to model them in detail. To do this, Jason capitalized on our engineering access and used the plan views for the actuator assemblies to create the actuators within the wing of the model...They are hard to see unless you have a product that allows you to move around the wing of the airplane- but they are in there- AND THEY MOVE CORRECTLY.Even the jackscrew rotates appropriately- and can be seen from the right locations...I told you were were going for details. :(
Hah! Now I'm a happy camper! When I saw the flap track sys on the real deal up close for the first time I was blown away by the mechanics. So cool, especially when you look at the small details like how the rearward flaps (the smaller ones) are moved and stuff. Incredible.
Yup already in, they bounce during taxi, takeoff, in turbulence, they flex even more if you pull/push hard on the yoke. No worries, we got it ;-)
Great. Especially love the taxi and takeoff part. Love it when they bounce up and down whenever you hit grooves on the tarmac... :(
Okay- as promised here is another preview image selection showing the same airplane, the 737-800 with winglets during test flying out of KRNT...
You know what, the shot that kinda stunned me the most, was that wing view shot, and in that shot, the engine attachment. I don't know why but I think it has never looked like that anywhere in the sim. It just seems about right this time. :(
The information projected on the HGS actually sits in space in front of the cockpit geometry like the wiper blade, glareshield etc, yet it still maintains it's optical collimation and conformal properties. This has never been done before to our knowledge and it took more work to do than you'll ever know. You can see that part of it is sitting in front of the wiper blade in the last shot of the original post in this thread. We'll have a new HGS video showing it off a bit better in the future.
Dang - you were pointing out the HUGS pic is projected like what, 200 ft in front, eh? Now I get what you mean. I certainly understand you can project usual gauges onto transparent surfaces nowadays, but I have no clue how you and the other HUD devs out there actually make the image only visible when looking through the combiner. Will it be 2d cockpit?
If it will have a 2D cockpit? Yes, we just don't know if it's ready. Probably this will be the last PMDG plane with 2D cockpit. It seems that future developments will be VC only.

One thing that i noticed on all of the screenshots... There is no shadow. Are there any reason for that?

That's correct.

We'll show the lights soon. Seriously though, with what you've seen here do you really think we'd put default lights in? tongue.gif
We all know the screens are photoshopped! :( Seriously though. Good job on the external screens thus far. Really have me re-thinking about scrapping the money together to purchase the Orbx scenery. Been sitting on that one for awhile. Must say with all the extra detail if it is even remotely close to the J41's FPS performance I will be happy.

To conserve FPS I guess... if you noticed, on the earlier shots the overall graphical settings of the entire world except the aircraft were rather low.

Looking foward to some movies from the stairs and the flaps.:(
Looking forward to see some movies about a daylight approach with vc view and a night approach with the HUD. :(

Looking forward to see this bird in action and can't wait to put my hands on this plane. Also want to see the 2D.
