It's actually a more stylized version of our old logo, which was like what's at the top of this box here - the swirl is supposed to represent an engine.
Someone pointed out that our logo looks a bit like the hurricane symbol on a weather map...At the time we were selecting the logo- the company was in the midst of proverbial hurricane... so it just seemed like that logo was more and more appropriate. :( It has definitely served us well these past few years!

Talking about landing lights... one more question: in the real world, if you select the Retractable landing lights ON (switch directly through EXT to ON), from the outside you will see a light beam, which is pointed straight down, pitching forward. I saw this when I was on a beach at night watching the traffic coming in, and it took me a while to find out that as soon as you select the retracts ON, they illuminate, even if the lights itself aren't fully extended at that point. Is this also simulated in the model or is it impossible because of FSX limits?

What is the story behind the pogo sticks anyway?

For those asking about having internal sounds for the wingviews - I looked into this and it's not going to be possible unfortunately. To do it requires the wings to be fully modeled in the VC - wingviews are normally made in FSX using the external model. We can't model the full wings + engines and everything in the VC - the reason is the animation limit I've been talking about - we've already maxed it in the VC itself. The wings require a ton of animations - the control surfaces, the engines, the flexing etc - all that is done with them and there's just not enough left over to do two wings that way. There's no other way to assign interior sounds to a view than by making the view part of the VC - sorry but we're going to have to live with external sounds in the wingviews.
just wondering, but could you maybe make a seperate plane where the sounds are all just interior sounds so that we could have the wing view with VC sounds. I'm not a developer but just thought this might be possible, but I could be wrong :S Just mentioning this, because I for one would not mind at all if you didn't have exterior sounds for one of the planes, because me personally, I fly with cockpit view, and wing view, so I would not miss the external sounds. Sorry if that seems a bit incoherent, but its 0400hrs here :Pkind regards,Suraj Hussain

Do you know how it says 'Terrain' on the ND?Is it not supposed to say it on the HUGS?It's not important, I'm just wondering.

You meant on the last pics of the first series here?I think that's the indication that the terrain radar is active and the the GPWS :( But, Ryan or anyone else who can answer this: Are the GPWS warning displayed anywhere in the 737?I'm just wondering because sometimes I fly without having sound on my Computer (I have everything which can make sounds on the same speakers because the ones i have are so great :( ) because i'm watching TV or just listening to music, so it would be good to see the terrain warning on a display befor I'm crashing into the mountain :(

Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!

I love those pictures, i used to work on this aircraft daily but unfortunally we hardly have any maintenance on it where i am, but im still fully licenced technician and flight engineer on it :) so i have a few questions.1. the 737NG often gives a wrong "PSEU" (Proximity Switch Electronic Unit) fault at power changes, often when changing from ground power to APU and then to Engine power, is this modeled? this will need a tech to reset the computer from the forward electronic compartment :( this is often done with the engines running.2. is it possible to have engines at takeoff power with parking brake on? or is this a problem with FSX? i have allways wondered why this wasnt possible on other aircrafts.now back to read the company FCOM i just got as a PDF :) i got a lot of catching up to do, im a little rusty on the 737 since i mostly work on the A318-321

Yes, the (E)GPWS cautions and warnings are displayed on the ND. A "Whoop, Whoop, Pull Up" warning for terrain is also diplayed on the PFD as "PULL UP" in red below the artificial horizon. Maybe more are displayed, but this is the only one I've encountered in real life (one airport in our database is not correctly mapped, short final on the ILS is always noisy because of the EGPWS).

RSR is just saying that we intend to use the ORBX scenery (and a couple others from different regions of the world we'll be using) as backdrops for our screenshots - we want to try to help promote the amazing work these scenery developers are doing, it adds hugely to the immersion and they sometimes don't get the attention we feel they deserve vs. aircraft. Both are important as our previews will show!I should add too that I'm using REX2 Overdrive in these shots (sky textures, water, and a whole host of cool improvements to the sim) - Tim is a friend and you should check it out if you don't have it already!
You could have a look over at Vector Land Class New Zealand the land of Lord Of The Rings www.vectorlandclass.co.nz These guys have done some great work for New Zealand scenery.

Gents,Out of interest does anyone know (guessing the PMDG devs will :( ) what sort of drag penalty the Wi-Fi domes add? Seems to me that these days even tiny percentages in reduction of efficiency lead to big costs? Surely these domes stuck on top of the fuselage cost something in terms of airframe drag?(If it does, I bet the team have modeled it :()Thanks

The whole PMDG Team - Just read through the new update from Robert, and one thing struck me the most - how much your pride in your work comes through in how you write the updates and your products! And that's not something I mean you've put on, it's just natural! Great to see a company who still retain what a lot have lost or never had!! Sam.

Ditto! When you spend money on a product from PMDG, you just know its well worth it! I can't imagine how many hours i've logged in the old 73G and now the MD11 in FSX, I just keep coming back. The NGX will take up the rest of my sparetime - for sure! :(
