Externalities and the NGX

Thanks for the update! Cant wait for Alaska Flight 32 from SEA-MSP!!!! :D
I'm looking forward to doing some Alaska flights once the NGX is released. Southwest colors will definitely be my main choice, but I'm sure I'll do some flights in Alaska colors.

Ok, well thats insane, truly, you guy's should not be working FSX, someone should hire you ie Beoing, Lockheed NASA you know? How do you expect to make any money with this, like you must of spent thousands of hours. Wish you all the best though, I seriously will fly nothing other then this for a year, easily.

One Quick question... Will the NGX Be sold all together (600,700,800,900) or will it be like the Previous NG... (600,700) and (800,900)? Thanks.-Chris

+1Where will you do your 1st Southwest flight from? I think i'll do a flight from KAUS to KBWI, or maybe from KORF to KTPA.

I think it's safe to say that PMDG will have a licence to MINT $$$$$ after they release the NGX. Heck, folks who are die hard FS9 users are sure to want to upgrade their systems just to get access to this plane. I predict FSX sales will go up once the NGX and testimony from users is out. They are going to be filthy rich and they deserve it!

Ryan said some weeks ago something about a unseen feature in the HUD. Something anyone have done before. Maybe it's it.
Alright, I'll let you in on the secret now - this is subtle, but it took a hell of a lot work to accomplish and we're very proud of Vin and Alex for making it happen:The information projected on the HGS actually sits in space in front of the cockpit geometry like the wiper blade, glareshield etc, yet it still maintains it's optical collimation and conformal properties. This has never been done before to our knowledge and it took more work to do than you'll ever know. You can see that part of it is sitting in front of the wiper blade in the last shot of the original post in this thread. We'll have a new HGS video showing it off a bit better in the future.

WOW!!!!I just transfered another $100 into my "new computer so I can fly the NGX" account that "She Who Must Be Obeyed" doesn't know about. Secret.gifOn a more serious note, Thanks for choosing to highlight the NGX with scenery from my home town. I think I'll be looking into buying that ORBX scenery when I get that aforementioned new computer.Michael

Awesome, the detail in the pressurization system sounds incredible. If you guys don't mind, I have a somewhat irrelevant question: PMDG's logo strikes me as a fairly nice bit of graphic design, how exactly did it come about, what is it intended to depict, if anything?

Can't guarantee we'll do the state flags ones, but I'm sure someone will, whether it's user-made or done by someone like McPhat. A complete SWA pack would actually be a great product for them I'm betting.
Yeah, McPhat would probably do some great paints for the NGX, but my concern and the only reason I never buy their work is mainly because in my opinin, they go way overboard on making the a/c look to dirty and worn out, more so that I have ever seen airliners in real life. If they had a clean and dirty version of their work I would probably already own a lot of their paints, but as it stands now I dont care for most of what they put out, which is ashame because they seem to have a great deal of talent.
A note here on scenery is due: I mentioned in the earlier update that Orbx has partnered with PMDG so that we can provide some magnificent looking backdrops to preview images of the NGX products and the 777s... The images in the earlier preview thread were not set up optimally to highlight how amazing the Orbx FTX-Pacific Northwest scenery really is- but this image gives you a better idea... I'm not sure how many of you have flown in/out of the Seattle area, but this view is nearly photographic in terms of the scenery quality...
I wasn't going to say anything, but I was wondering what was going on with the ORBX ground textures in those first shots posted yesterday. Glad to see that you got it set up better and they look much better in the latest shots.Sean Campbell

To paraphrase Nelix, "That sounds very impressive, i have no idea what any of it means, but it sounds very impressive." Does that mean that in other HGS, it was actually a transparent object that the projection was 'textured' on to? Where as this is...I don't really know how to explain it. That's the part I'm confused on. Now to have the proper projection appearance, you can't texture the projection. I get that part, but I'm still lost.:(

I will be doing a soutwest airlines flight # 546 from KONT-KSJC. Hope this gets released before Feb 11 because that is when i fly next. man i love southwest airlines(but not as much as a girlfriend).Ian Besemer

Excellent updates this weekend! One question... Does the drogue smoothly move when in flight to stopping and/or sway in the wind on the ground?

Yeah that's the general idea - in the past HUD/HGS has been an object that would disappear behind geometry - not so here.

Yes it does, the drogue has a physics model behind it. (yes we are insane geeks, we know)
