Oh Frank, shut it down will you? You are digging yourself into a deeper and deeper hole. If you object to John Venema's statements, then take it somewhere, anywhere else, please. Most of us agree with him, and disagree with you. Why? ...because we have considerable knowledge, experience and expertise that lead us to the same conclusions he has. You had best cool your jets for your own sake. Knock it off and be quiet. Kind regards,
Might I ask in what ???

You could also call it common sense.

I have a trivial question for those who are either using P3D or know a lot about it.Have the rain and snow effects been improved to look better than what FSX offers or even as good as how they looked in FS9?

Lol, and what ever happen to good sense...seems like it's underrated these days ;)
Might I ask in what ???
lol, in many thousands of hours of working with the FSX software from day one, modifying, tweaking, experimenting, and observation. Such experience makes for difficult to acquire knowledge and collective expertise in FSX in general, and it's embred peculiarities and the machinery combinations required to successfully run it, amongst a hundred other things. I am sure each of us have our areas of special knowledge that when collectively shared and reproduced have moved us all forward from that struggling choking original software. Even still, nothing fancy claimed, just experience and common good sense, and lots and lots of it.

Wowww! Stephen, Heiko and other who disagree with Frankla, as I do respect your opimion I have to say something here, I was born and raised in Quebec Canada (french speaking), I've been in the US for 20 years + and one of severals things I love about this country is the first amendment http://www.law.corne...First_amendment , peoples are killed in other country because they dare speak their mind, the US lost a lot of good soldiers not even old enough to drink fighting to protect these rights.....you need to stop for a sec. here and think twice about telling somebody to shut up because you disagree with him but guess what....you have the right to say it. How many here made fun at me because they disagreed with me....who's laughing now, but they all had the right to say what they wanted about me, they have that right. Back to Frankla's post, (remember that my native language is French) ....after reading John's post over and over again Quote"John Venema : Flight is not what people are expecting, it won't compete with FSX at all, it's a completely different sim category. FSX is the serious sim platform for the hardcore and will be for at least 5-10 years, and certainly hardware is now capable of overcoming most of the shortfalls of the code. We are also very excited about Lockheed Martin's PREPAR3D, which is built on FSX and has a bunch of ex-ACES guys fixing all the major bugs and making it work with today's CPU/GPU hardware. We are waiting on some new pricing models to emerge and then it becomes a serious alternative platform for Orbx and its customersEnd of quote. I have to agree with the way Frankla is understanding it, now you want to crusify him for speaking his mind on something you can all read by yourself......you have the right to disagree with him and you have the right to tell him to shut up because of it, but last time I checked this forum was not based in China and I think he can speak his mind if he want to...

Nothng better than experience !An hour doing something is usually better than an hour reading about it.I have lots of experience in flight simulation too, both desktop and professional. I really do have doubts about MS Flight and going by anything I have read and seen in the past yearit looks to me like it is going to be a very commercial, game orientated type of thing. At least Lockeed now have the chance to make something special for the more serious flight sim community. Enough! It is 2:15 am where I am and my eyes are closed more that they are open. The rest of the Prepare3d should continue downloading for a few more hours. Anybody want to argue, pick someone who is still awake and cares, and have a go at him. Two things Alain. Free speech and expression is a fundemental right in Canada and everywhere else in the free world, not just in the United States. Slander and libel and their accompanying defamation of character are neither legal, moral or a basic right in any of them and is never acceptable where there is rule of law. Character assination were someone is accused of breech of faith in an NDA is a serious offense if not proven in a court of law under stringent rules of evidence. So yes, Frank should be quiet. Good to see you old friend. Kind regards, Good Night

alainneedle1, you’re spot on. Good and bad ideas, yours or mine, will get revealed by discussing them. So asking frankla to just shut up makes me think folks don’t actually have a better answer. I’d say to frankla the interview has a context…and people are going to make much more of the comments than intended. But don't make it personal. And folks making conclusions outside of MS PR are still just speculating - rushing and filling in the details. Doing their best to explain away any uncertainty.

I agree with you on that.... I guess it's a matter of interpretation .....

I went to bed 7 hours ago, I woke up and THIS has transpired in between!!?? WOW. Seriously, we are in such a bad need of a decent simulator.

We just got one, finally!

In no place did I claim that they broke an NDA. Nor did I ever claim they are under NDA. I said that if they are not under NDA then they are spreading rumors. If they are under NDA they have broken it. The word "if" removes any intent of accusation and places my statements as opinion. That is not libel nor immoral. Stop using non truths to discredit me. Please don't tell me that criticizing a vendor's behavior is character assassination and slander. Its your way of trying to censor what you don't like to hear.
If I told you the same thing as Orbx stated today in their interview, you would laugh me out of these forums and call me a troll. However after Orbx was quoted here, everyone, including me got worried. So obviously they do have more influence than you care to agree.
I treat everyone the same, doesn't matter whether they are a developer or a regular forum member, and you can be sure that I would never laugh anyone out of the forums, or 'call anyone a troll', for if I did, I'd probably get (and deserve) a stern warning for having done so. That little green forum tag I have comes with some degree of responsibility as far as what I can and can not say on these forums goes. Some of that is self-imposed, but believe me, you have more free reign to express your opinions than I have because of it, since anything I put down could be seen as being representative of Avsim, which means I would not want to write anything which reflected badly on Avsim. I don't mind that, but it does mean I have to sometimes think twice before posting, it's the price of being on the staff! Even if that were not the case, incidentally, I still wouldn't have called you those things, since you are entitled to your own opinion, although I will say that one always ought to be careful not to give oneself enough rope when expressing them. Don't get me wrong here, in everyday life I'm not always so amenable, as a person I'll argue with someone until the sun goes down on occasion, but I'd never resort to personal insults either on a forum or otherwise, for one thing it's indicative of not having a better argument :-) Al
