The pre-release is for ASE users only, and is a special promotion to give ASE customers a chance to upgrade and use AS2012 before anyone else, and receive an exclusive discount.As stated, the official public release is Monday the 19th.

Holy cow...the discounted upgrade price is 30 euros (~42 USD), and the full price after this Sunday is a whopping 50 euros (~70 USD).What's new in this new version for those of us that already have good HD cloud sets in our other addons? Beyond the cloud textures, I honestly I don't see much that isn't already built into ASE...

OK, riddle me this, then. The Simmarket site shows 49.99 euros lined out (without VAT), with a discounted price of 29.99 euros. 40% off of 49.99 is indeed the current price of 30 euros. If the non-discounted price is going to be 39.99, then the current price of 29.99 isn't 40% off as advertised...it's really 25% off.Yes, my conversion is a bit high...it's more like ~$40 and $66 US for the Simmarket-advertised prices.

You need to add VAT if you live in europe. So It's not 29.99 but more like 36.

The transparent cloud issue is an fsx limitation has nothing to do with ase or Rex or anything like that. Part of the problem is that fax only uses 2d clouds....not 3d which is kinda crap but what are u going to do. I might get the new ase I donno I like the ase I have now and I really don't know how they could improve on it. My textures are from Rex and I really don't think Rex can be improved on so who knows

As mentioned there are limitations, but we have certainly worked on this for AS2012. Please check out the cloud screenshots on our website, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

The pre-release event expires on the 19th, when we will have an Introductory sales period of 20% off that everyone can take advantage of and it lasts for 3 weeks. I can't help it. The sim limitations are the same since FSX came out, the weather engine improvements get described vague and the 'discount' price is a tough one if one isn't looking for textures but for an improved ASE weather engine only.Is there something like that or is it just about the textures? How about a weather engine only 2012? Would be much appreciated and may come in way cheaper. Don't read this the wrong way, the discount idea for existing customers is a nice character trait. But maybe some of us aren't interested in the texture part.Yes, I've read the salesmen texts in the Hifi forum and on the site and while I don't have a doubt that extra work went into the old ASE engine, I wonder if the guys looking for a more stable weather impression will see an improvement worth the extra costs. So if one already runs REX, which is discounted by 50% these days (~ 17.50 Euros for the full set), I fail to catch the point that should trigger some 36 Euros on a product I already own, which is ASE.Sceptical, I know. Looking forward to user reports which may describe some improvements on e. g. the 'advanced interpolation'.

The European folks don't pay that retail, they pay the price plus VAT, which ends up at approx 60 Euros. So a more or less huge part of your customers can't calculate with that retail price, unless they want to get into trouble with their governmental forces.
