Featured Replies

Dirk98,You should be able to install on the second client just fine. You will however need your installation key for ASE handy.Regards,Bob

Bob, I have only ASX key, as ASE was an upgrade ontop of installed ASX. Hence was my question. Should I use ASX key??Thanks,Dirk.

JBZ, is this using DWC mode on your flight?
Yes, DWC and FSUIPC wind smoothing both on.

Dirk,There was an upgrade available for purchase from ASX to ASA and then a free update to ASE for those that owned ASA. I do not believe that there was ever an upgrade available from ASX to ASE. In order to upgrade from ASX to ASA, ASX would need to be installed and then you would install the ASA Upgrade with your supplied installation key for ASA (then install the free update from ASA to ASE).So you should have two installation keys one for ASX and one for ASA. Your ASA key should work for upgrading to AS2012. My ASA upgrade key worked fine to install AS2012.Regards,Bob

Right, I

By the way, So thumbs up on the improvements, but maybe you get my 'chuckle point'. No offence intended, Jeremy. As said, keep the reports coming, sounds promising.
LOL!I'd hate to tell you the amount of time the beta team spent on that one issue!!I can honestly say that this is the most realistic weather I have seen in FS since day 1.I think you will be peasantly surprised.Vic
Since folks say weather generation has improved in AS2012, and the textures are still not as good as Rex overdrive. One option might be to get AS2012 for weather and retain REX for textures, AS WEVE ALWAYS DONE!!!!.
I guess if you like REX OD thena that works but if you don't..........Unfortunately graphics are purely subjective - it's in the eyes of the beholder. I think they're better then OD and others disagree. We are both right. This is something that will take each individual user to discover. If you buy it because someone says it's better than OD or if you do not buy it bevause someone says it's not as good - you are making a mistake. It's more expensive that way but you get t make your own decisions.Vic

don't forget you can mix and match as2012 textures and rex textures simply by un ticking some texture features in as2012, I really love the wx influenced theme, but I unchecked some of the texture options because I like rex better, for example I love the rex ftx clam water set, the taxiway and parking spots and the runway lights, so when as2012 creates a weather influenced theme it will not touch these textures. The interface is better the weather engine is awesome, the textures are great and so are the sound sets, like the rain and the thunder, plus Im glad to get rid of that maroon colored interface.LOL.gif

Bought Active Sky 2012 and here is my first impression.1. 3GB total. Nice idea to split the install package into 6 packages. Make it much easier to download.2. Easy to install.3. Setting up textures is much better compared to previous versions as there is now a preview for each category.4. I have always liked the Active Sky weather engine compared to other products and it is still the best in 2012.5. New HD textures are on par if not better than REX IMHO.

I used ASE and REX. Downloaded AS2012 yesterday because I am a fan of HIFI. Their weather engine has always been the best. And it still is. Working flawlessly. And as far as one flight can tell, resulting in realistic weather and weather depiction.I need to play with the graphics to get my optimal set but I am sure it is going to work out.Oh, and last but certainly not the least, performance in combination with the NGX was indentical if not better than with ASE and REX.Thanks HIFI, it is a pleasure flying.....Menno

Hi,I agree, your statement hits the nail on the head for me as well.

I can live without the fancy GUI, the textures, what I really want, are the fixes. Seems the only way to receive them is to buy the new program. While I appreciate your efforts and the small discount you gave us previous owners, this will most likely be the last HiFi product that I purchase. I think the only way you'll get me to open my wallet again is to come up with something that is going to "WOW" me. We as consumers should not be forced to pay for bug fixes

Now that I've completed my flight, I can give my final thoughts. Now, onto my personal opinion to HiFi as a consumer....again...just an opinion. I understand development costs money, and I think you all did an excellent job with AS2012 and the new texture sets. However, the fixes that were applied (at least the ones that I noticed) should have been applied as a patch to ASE, not force us to buy a whole new program. Thank you. A review that really helped me make my decision.

I don't know about you, but I got ASE for free since I was an ASA user in FS9. Although I used REX initially in FSX I was not happy with the way visibility was handled. ASE solved that problem. And like I said, it was a FREE download. In the meantime I applied all free updates that HIFI the past 2 years released. Now that HIFI has released AS2012 I have no problem whatsoever to purchase that new release. ASE was different from ASV. Now, HIFI finally requests a new payment for a new version. HIFI has changed our hobby dramatically and I have no problem paying the 36 odd Euros and support this developer in enhancing our flying experience. After 3 flights I can state that it is not 'just' bug fixing.Menno

Neither do I - but not for the proposed high price of €36. That is in general an average price of the full product.I simply expected a better deal for loyal customers. 36 euros is simply not a worthy upgrade to the existing ASE engine, imho.

I bought ASE 2012 last night, and I'm currently downloading it, I'll post a review in a bit. I have been a long time loyal fan of Hi_Fi and I'm sure I'll love it

Totally agree with your comments. I stated something similar to your comments earlier. In addition, I can still use my FEX textures but I don't think I'll be doing that as I think the textures and graphics I have seen so far are very impressive, especially the water textures in the oceans, rivers and lakes. Best I've seen so far from any graphics program. In stormy weather, they look forbidding...Best regards,Jim
