X-Plane caters to simplistic systems.
Again, you know this is false because you've been corrected on this point in the past. What is it with you? Did Austin Meyer kick your dog or something?X-Plane can easily model systems at least as complex as anything you'll see in FSX. Check out www.ixeg.net some time, unless you want to tell me that a 737 doesn't have complex systems. :(
Why would people move onto other sims?
Because the core of FSX will never improve. In that sense it really is a dead platform.

So if I can easily justify ignoring the "only for purposes other than personal/consumer entertainment." provision, is it equally valid to ignore the one about "Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise reduce the Software to a human-readable form."?Not that I would (in fact I don't even have the ability of performing such a feat), but I'm just asking. How far is one able to justify breaking an EULA?
Mike, seriously... install ADE9X and create and/or modify your local airport's aircraft facilities file. Upload the file to AVSIM or elsewhere for public (free) download. Voila! You are now a legitimate developer...

I bought FSX Gold just last summer, played it for a while as vanilla and then started to buy addons. During last couple of months I've bought addons easily with over 500$. And now it is like another sim and every addon I am buying, it gets even better. Next will be A2A P-40, I hope.Pretty good for a platform that practically died somewhere in late 2008 :(

The P3D Eula doesn't mention developers. What you suggest is still personal/consumer entertainment.

So basically, you need to spend a ton of cash just to keep the experience worthwhile? I'm sure the third party devs love you for it though. I'm not criticizing you, as I've done FSX addons ad nauseum myself. If you're having fun, go for it!

The $10 gains you two licenses to use for doing development. It's there to see at the p3d site. Now, given that the fsx eula states that it is for non commercial use do you think that the licensed content from aircraft manufacturers should allow them to make microsoft audit it's customer base given we know that it is used commercially in various places? No, it's not microsoft fault that someone may try to profit from it, they have done what they can, in the eula.

In my opinion I would have to spend the same amount to XPX to have the same experience and still lacking most of my favorite devs. That's why I'm not going to jump easily.
Agreed. When P3D V2 comes out and there are some major improvements, and EZCA/NGX are updated for P3D, then I will do another hardware upgrade. Until them I am not investing any more money in hardware only FSX addons.
According to the people in the Prepar3D forum, both the NGX and EZCA work already in P3D.

I know that EZCA does work. I hope p3d v2 is not too far away. My advice woube be to not jumping ship until then unless you have specific issues with fsx that you know prepar3d will fix. I would not think that v1.2 of p3d is big enough leap for most to justify the move but it looks like v2 is attractive.

There are a couple of things regarding P3D that people claiming it's the future and FSX is dead are forgetting! One from a technical standpoint P3D is a modified version of FSX + LM's improvements, and as such many FSX addons work just fine with it. So it's likely most addons for this market will probably continue to be developed for FSX then ported to P3D, as seem to be the plan for many developers, OrBx, FS2Crew, stated in this thread, PMDG et... So from that perspective FSX is far from dead. The second thing is people are forgetting that LM is a company not known to produce consumer products/software. Their core business model is to market to Government, Military and other Commercial enterprises. Making P3D available to us this way, is a side business to them, and is generally insignificant to it's success, (Even more so then we were to MS) as such they could close this form of licensing at anytime. In regards to the existing licenses out there, I would be interested to know in it's EULA, if there is a phrase stating they can terminate the license at anytime or any reason?

And even after all of that, you're just putting window dressing on a product that will never see any core improvements.

Quite possibly, as I said previously, I'm not criticizing you. It's your decision to make, I'm fine with that.

What do you think P3D is ?FSX with tons of core improvements.Fred.

Yes, v2 is when it will become worthwhile.
